Project Management Syllabus for Official Certifications

Let’s look at the most popular certification-based project management syllabi.

PMI’s Project Management Professional (PMP) Syllabus

The PMP certification is one of the most reputed for all kinds of project management professionals.

As one has to appear for the PMP exam to earn it, the training prep includes learning the material from the latest PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) guide.

These include the 10 Project Management Knowledge Areas

  1. Project Integration Management
  2. Project Scope Management
  3. Project Time Management
  4. Project Cost Management

  3. Business Environment - Factors, both external and internal, that directly or indirectly influence the project management decisions.

PRINCE2 Certification Syllabus

The PRINCE2 certification comes with Foundation and Practitioner levels.

In both, the main PRINCE2 principles must be understood in terms of how they integrate together.

The main principles of PRINCE2 are people, practices, processes and the context of the project.

This involves understanding the different themes, including business case, organisation, quality, plans, risk, change, and progress.
