NIMCET 2025 syllabus will be prepared and released online at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. The list of subjects, units and topics that the candidates will have to study and prepare for the entrance examination can be checked through the NIMCET syllabus 2025. Before commencing the preparation process, the candidates are advised to check the official syllabus of NIMCET 2025 carefully. According to the NIMCET 2025 syllabus, the candidates will have to prepare topics from Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning and General English. The authorities will use the syllabus to prepare the question paper for NIMCET 2025. Q:   What is the difficulty level of the syllabus of NIMCET?

A:

In terms of difficulty level, the NIMCET syllabus can be considered moderate to tough. The NIMCET syllabus will consist of four subjects: namely General English, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, Mathematics, and Computer Awareness. The NIMCET exam will be conducted in an online mode. The NIMCET question paper will comprise of 120 objective multiple-choice questions.

Q:   Where can I check the official syllabus of NIMCET?

A:

The NIMCET 2025 syllabus will be released on the official website. Candidates will be able to access the NIMCET 2025 syllabus through the official notification at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. The syllabus for NIMCET consists of a list of the topics that students should cover during preparation. Along with the syllabus, candidates should also check the NIMCET exam pattern so that they can strategize their preparation journey.

The authorities have not yet announced the NIMCET MCA 2025 exam date. The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) is the entrance test that provides admission to the MCA course. The NIMCET 2025 exam date will be announced online at nimcet.admissions.nic.in.

NIMCET Syllabus - Mathematics

Units Topics
Set Theory

Concept of sets - Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting; permutations and combinations.

Probability and Statistics Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.
Algebra Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices.
Coordinate Geometry Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and the intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola.
Calculus Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, and applications of definite integrals to areas.
Vectors The position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
Trigonometry Simple identities, trigonometric equations properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations.

NIMCET Syllabus - Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning

The questions in this section will cover logical situations and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

NIMCET Syllabus - Computer Awareness

Units Topics
Computer Basics Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), the structure of instructions in the CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and backup devices.
Data Representation Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating-point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

NIMCET Syllabus - General English

Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics - Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, the meaning of words and phrases, and technical writing.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of NIMCET?

A:

The difficulty level of NIMCET is normal. Questions from computer awareness sections is of BCA/BSc IT level while English, logical reasoning and Mathematics questions are of intermediate level. However, the questions asked in NIMCETs are tricky and required in-depth understanding of the subjects. Students need to have conceptual understanding of each topics to get a good score in the exam. Students who studies NCERT and have good understanding of topics can get a decent score in NIMCET.

In such cases, candidates can have a look and refer to the previous years’ question papers to analyse which topics are of utmost importance and which can be left out.

While more or less all the concepts have been covered across the subjects in the official NIMCET syllabus. We advise you to not stress too much and focus on the prescribed syllabus provided by the exam authorities.

NIMCET 2025 Exam Pattern

Candidates are advised to check and be familiar with the NIMCET 2025 exam pattern. The details regarding how the entrance examination will be conducted can be checked through the NIMCET exam pattern 2025. According to the NIMCET exam pattern, the authorities will conduct the exam as a computer-based test. Within the 2-hour duration, the candidates will have to attempt 120 objective multiple-choice questions. The marking scheme is different as per the section of the question paper. 

NIMCET 2025 Marking Scheme

Section Marking Scheme
Part I - Mathematics

12 marks will be awarded for every correct answer

3 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer

Part II - Analytical Ability & Reasoning

For every correct answer, 6 marks will be awarded

1.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer

Part III - Computer Awareness

For every correct answer, 6 marks will be awarded

1.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer

Part III - General English

4 marks will be awarded for every correct response

1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer

Q:   Is there any negative marking for wrong answers in NIMCET?

A:

As per the information brochure of NIMCET, each correctly answered question will give full marks, while each incorrectly answered question will result in deduction. For Mathematics, 12 marks will be awarded for the correct answer, and 3 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. For Computer Awareness, Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning, 6 marks will be awarded for the correct answer, and 1.5 marks will be deducted for the wrong answer. For General English, 4 marks are awarded for the correct answer, and 1 mark is deducted for the incorrect answer. Candidates are advised against attempting questions if they are unsure of the correct answer. However, no deduction will be made if a question is left unanswered. Selecting multiple answers to a question will result in negative marking.

Q:   What if a candidate marked more than one answer to the NIMCET question?

A:

As per the exam pattern of the NIMCET, for every correctly answered question, full marks will be awarded, and each wrongly answered question will lead to a 25% negative mark. Also, if a candidate marked more than one answer against a question, then it will be negatively marked.

Q:   Will there be any break between the NIMCET exam duration?

A:

No, there will not be any break during the NIMCET exam. The NIMCET exam will be conducted with single paper containing 120 multiple-choice questions, and the questions will be asked in English language only. The three parts of the CBT will appear to the candidate one after the other. Time assigned for each part is fixed. Candidate should complete each part in allotted time only as movement to one section from other is not permitted.

Q:   What are the topics covered in set theory and calculus in mathematics for the NIMCET exam?

A:

The Mathematics section of the NIMCET exam will consist of 50 questions. Topics covered in set theory and calculus are mentioned below:
