AMU UG courses

Eligibility Criteria

Age limit 

BSc courses in Home Science, Agriculture, Life Sciences

Candidates should have completed Class 12 with Science subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology/ Geography/ Computer Science/ Home Science or equivalent exam. Also, English should be among the main subjects of Class 12 examination. 

They should have secured at least 50% marks in Class 12 examinations

24 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BA courses 

Candidates should have obtained a Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination from a recognised education board, or Bridge Course-Senior Secondary School Certificate from AMU, or

An equivalent Degree/ Sanad from AMU recognized Madarsa/ Institution in India

They should have secured 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying exam. 

24 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BA in Foreign Languages

Candidates should have obtained a Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination from a recognised education board, or Bridge Course-Senior Secondary School Certificate from AMU. 

They should have secured 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying exam

24 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BA LLB course

Candidates should have obtained a Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination from a recognised education board, or Bridge Course-Senior Secondary School Certificate from AMU. 

They should have secured 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying exam. 

22 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BCom course

Candidates should have qualified SSC exam or an equivalent exam with English, and one of the following subjects Accountancy / Economics / Business Studies / Commerce / Banking / Entrepreneurship / Mathematics / Computer Science / Business Administration / Financial Markets Management, or 

Diploma in Secretarial Practice examination of AMU

They should have secured at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination

24 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BVoc course

Candidates should have obtained a Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination from a recognised education board. 

They should have secured at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination

24 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BSc Nursing course

Candidates who have qualified the SSC exam from AMU or an equivalent board exam. They should have studied the subject combination Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) along with English Core / English Elective 

They should have obtained at least 45% marks in aggregate of subject combination - PCB.

17 years or above as on December 31, 2025. 

AMU Entrance Exam 2025 Eligibility Criteria for PG courses

Here is the course-wise eligibility criteria for all postgraduate courses to be offered on the basis of AMU admission test 2025:

They should have obtained at least 50% marks in the qualifying law degree

No age restrictions 

MCA course

Candidates holding a bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Architecture / Computer Applications / Information Technology / Computer Maintenance from a recognised college or university, or 

A BSc/ BA/ BCom degree with at least 2 courses of Computer Sciences Govt. approved mode at 10 2/graduation level OR complete the Bridge course from the Department in the first semester of MCA at AMU.

Candidates must have studied mathematics in class 12 or equivalent exam. 

They should have obtained at least 50% marks in the qualifying law degree

27 years or less as on July 1, 2025

BEd

Candidates holding a BA/ BSc/BCom/ BTh with relevant subjects or a Master’s degree in Science / Social Sciences / Humanities with 50% marks,  or

Bachelor in Engineering & Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks.

Note: Candidates with Malayalam / Bengali subject will only be considered as School Subject at Malappuram / Murshidabad Centres respectively.These subjects will not be considered as School Subject for AMU Aligarh

BLibSc

Candidates holding a BA/ BSc/BCom/ BTh or equivalent degree with at least 50% marks

Q:   How many seats are there for AMU BSc course?

A:

Aligarh Muslim University offers a three-year full-time BSc course at the undergraduate level. Apart from the BSc course, the University also offers BSc (Hons) courses. AMU admission to the BSc course is based on candidates' performance in an entrance test conducted by the University. The total seat intake for the AMU BSc course is approximately 1260. Q:   How many marks required to get admission in AMU?

A:

The minimum marks required for admission to AMU depends on the selected course. Generally, for all the UG courses the minimum requirement is that the candidate must have passed class 12 with a minimum 50% aggregate and for AMU PG courses admission, 50% in graduation is required.

Q:   What is the minimum age limits for AMU B.P.Ed admission?

A:

AMU offers a Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed) course for a duration of two years in a full-time mode. To be eligible for the AMU B.P.Ed course, candidates should now be more than 27 years as of 01st July in the year of admission. Apart from the age limit mentioned here, students must also be required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria set by Aligarh Muslim University for its B.P.Ed course. 

Q:   Does AMU accept CAT?

A:

AMU conducts its own entrance test called Aligarh Muslim University Common Admission Test (AMU-CAT) for admission to the MBA course. The Admission Test shall be held at Aligarh, Kolkata & Kozhikode. Based on the marks secured by the candidates in the AMU-CAT entrance test, a merit list for admission will be drawn. Candidates whose names appear in the merit list released by the University are then required to appear for the Group Discussion & Personal Interview (GD & PI) round. The final selection is based on the candidates' performance in the counselling process, conducted by AMU.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for B.A. LL.B. at Faculty of Law, AMU?

A:

Eligibility for the B.A. LL.B. program at the Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), candidates must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board of education. Graduates of Deeni Madaris must also have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Age Limit: The maximum age limit for the programme is 22 years as of July 1 of the year of admission. However, there is a relaxation of up to five years for candidates with physical disabilities.

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens to be eligible for the program.

It's important for candidates to carefully review and satisfy all the eligibility criteria before applying for the AMU B.A. LL.B. program.

The selection is based on an entrance examination conducted by AMU at various locations. 

 

 

 

Q:   How tough is the AMU MBA entrance exam?

A:

Admission to the AMU MBA is done based on the performance of the candidates in AMU CAT.The competition level is high for Aligarh Muslim University MBA admission and it is also reflected in the entrance exam conducted by AMU for admission to the MBA programme. The entrance exam is a computer-based test consisting of 100 questions (1 mark each), divided into four sections and they are as under:

  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension: 25 Marks
  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning: 25 Marks
  • Quantitative Ability: 25 Marks
  • General Awareness: 25 Marks

Those who qualify for the entrance exam will be selected for the counselling process followed by document verification and fee payment for final seat allotment.
