About FTII JET
The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) conducts the Joint Entrance Test (JET) to shortlist candidates for its Film and TV courses in FTII and SRFTII. The FTII JET exam is conducted annually. It is one of the top Film and TV exams and is conducted in offline mode. The FTII JET exam has two stages - Written Test and Interview. FTII Eligibility Criteria
The exam conducting authority prescribes the minimum eligibility criteria for the FTII JET. Desirous candidates who wish to pursue a career in filmmaking by taking admission into the FTII or SRFTI must meet the minimum eligibility criteria. As per the official website of FTII, aspirants must be above 21 years of age and the minimum educational qualification required to fill the FTII JET application form is a bachelor's degree (in any stream) except 3 three-year PG Diploma in Art Direction & Production Design and a 3 Year UG Certificate course in Animation & Visual Effects Design. As for these two courses, the graduation needs to be in specific subjects as mentioned in the table below:
Q: How much to score to qualify the FTII entrance exam?
There is a cut off which is defined after the exam is conducted. The FTII JET cut off is defined based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, total number of applicants who appeared in the exam and the shifts under which the exam is conducted. Candidates who score equal to or more than the FTII JET cut off will qualify in the exam. As far as the minimum passing marks of FTII JET varies, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII for General Category is 50% for General category while that for OBC NCL category is 45%.
Q: What is the passing marks for FTII JET?
The minimum passing marks for the Film and Television Institute of India Joint Entrance Test varies, however, the minimum final cut-off marks to qualify for admission in FTII are: i) 50% for General category. ii) 45% for OBC NCL category. iii) 40% for SC/ST category.
Q: Can I apply for more than one course at FTII?
Yes, candidates can apply for more than one course from each of the three groups on the FTII JET application form. However, candidates will have to pay the application fee for like wise as the FTII JET application fee for one course is INR 2,000/-, for two courses it is INR 3,000/- (2000 + 1000) and for three courses it is INR 4,000/- (2000 + 1000 + 1000).
Q: Can I get a scholarship to get into FTII?
According to FTII, Pune's website, there are several scholarships that the institute offers and several others that potential students can avail. The institute offers the following scholarships based on merit and performance credits during the students' time there.
- Entrance Exam Merit - Given to toppers in each of the film wing courses; INR 12,500 per year.
- 1st Semester Merit - Given to the first 3 toppers; Common Module (Editing, Sound Recording & Sound Design, Art Direction & Production Design and Screenplay Writing); 1st topper get INR 24,000, 2nd gets INR 21,500 and the 3rd gets INR 19,000 every year
- Given to acting topper; INR 24,000 / year
- Given to screenplay writing topper; INR 24,000 / year
- 2nd to 5th Semester Merit - Given to the 1st and 2nd topper of each course; INR 13,500 and INR 11,500 respectively.

Being a government institute the FTII Fees for the programme is nominal and affordable for students. However, to boost meritorious students as well as to support students who are not financially sound, the institute offers scholarship opportunities. Candidates can find the name of the scholarship and financial aid in the table below -
FTII provides scholarships to 7 toppers in each of the Film Wing Courses. The aid is INR 12500 per student. It also provides 5 scholarships on Common Module (Editing, Sound Recording & Sound Design, Art Direction & Production Design, and Screenplay Writing) first three toppers and the amount of INR 24000, 21500, and 19000 respectively. Acting Topper gets a scholarship of INR 24000, and Screenplay Writing Topper gets INR 24000. There are 14 scholarships for each course's First and Second topper; the amount for 1st is INR 13500 and 2nd is INR 11500.
