There are number of good MBA colleges in India which accept CMAT scores in this range for their postgraduate management courses. Some of the college that accept CMAT score of 65-75 percentile include, BIMTECH-Greater Noida, BIT-Mesra, DY Patil School of Management-Pune, DY Patil School of Management-Pune, Calcutta Business School, New Delhi Institute of Management (NDIM) New Delhi, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) Chennai, IES Management College And Research Centre, Mumbai, Jaipuria Institute of Management Noida, FIIB Delhi: Fortune Institute of International Business, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII Ahmedabad), VESIM Mumbai, Durgadevi Saraf Institute of Management Studies, Delhi School of Business, EMPI Business School New Delhi, Jaypee Business School (JBS) Noida, International Institute of Management Studies (IIMS) Pune among others.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in CMAT?

A:

Yes, there is a negative marking in CMAT exam. For each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. For example, if a candidate attempts 18 questions from Logical Reasoning and gets 15 questions correct but 3 questions incorrect. Then the candidate's score for this section will be 15x4-3, i.e. 57. However, no marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.

Thus, candidates must choose only those questions to solve which they are sure of solving accurately. It is anyway not possible to solve all 100 questions, so candidates must weigh their options viz. Strength and weak areas and then choose questions carefully.

If candidates are not sure of answering a question correctly or it is taking too much time, then they should leave that questions and move to next as they also need to keep a tab on the time limit.

How is CMAT Percentile Calculated?

CMAT percentile score is calculated from the scaled score normalised from both exam sessions. It is calculated on the basis of the rank of a candidate vs the total number of candidates who appeared in the exam. Given below is the formula for calculating CMAT percentile prescribed by NTA:

Formula to Calculate CMAT Percentile:

Percentile P = 100 x Number of candidates appeared in the examination with raw marks equal to or less than the candidate/Total number of candidates appeared

For example, if about 10,000 candidates appeared in CMAT and a candidate scored highest marks (350/400) their rank will be 1 and CMAT percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99

CMAT rank can also be calculated with the below given formula:

10,000 - 1/10,000 x 100 = 99.99.

Take a look at the image below for reference:

Two or more candidates getting the same rank: In case more than one candidate secure same ranking in the CMAT exam, the same rank will be assigned to all of them but will be displayed by sorting their names alphabetically. The CMAT rank of the subsequent candidate will then be extended by the number of additional students having the same rank. Eg: If three students are at 25th Rank then subsequent student will be ranked as 28th.

Q:   How to calculate CMAT percentile?

A:
Since CMAT is usually conducted in two shifts, there are chances of the question paper of one shift being slightly tougher or easier in comparison to the question paper of other shift. In order to negate the possibility of any candidate having an advantage or disadvantage due to this, the exam authorities normalise the CMAT scores before percentile calculation. Once that is done, the authorities use the normalised score for percentile score calculation. CMAT percentile is basically a rank of a candidate vs the total number of candidates who appeared in the exam. Given below is the formula for calculating CMAT percentile prescribed by NTA: Formula to Calculate CMAT Percentile: If 10,000 candidates appeared in CMAT and only 1 candidate scored the highest marks (365/400). Since they have scored the highest in exam, their rank will be 1 and CMAT percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99.
Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   Is there any difference between the CMAT score and percentile?

A:
Yes, the Common Management Admission Test score is the total marks one has scored in the exam (sum total of marks scored in the five sections basis correct and incorrect attempts), whereas the Common Management Admission Test percentile is the rank of an applicant compared to all other test takers. Common Management Admission Test Percentile Calculation: Percentile P = 100 x Number of students who appeared in the examination with raw marks equal to or less than the candidate/Total number of candidates who appeared. For example, suppose 10,000 students appeared in the Common Management Admission Test exam. And student A has got the Number 1 Rank. His Common Management Admission Test percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99 You can also calculate the rank with the below-given formula: Percentile (P)= 10,000 1 (rank)/10,000 x 100= 99.99. Common Management Admission Test Score Calculation: 1- For each correct answer, 4 marks will be allotted. 2- For each incorrect answer, a 1 mark will be deducted. 3- There is no negative marking for unanswered questions. 4- The total score will be calculated by totaling marks gained or lost in each question. 5- The Common Management Admission Test question paper carries 100 questions, equally divided into four sections. Total marks allotted in 400. For more information, you may visit the Shiksha Common Management Admission Test exam page. (https://www.shiksha.com/mba/cmat-exam). I hope this will help you.

FAQs Regarding CMAT Result 2025

Check below Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to CMAT result 2025:

Q:   Am I eligible to get admission in PGDM marketing with 66 percentile in CMAT exam (general category)?

A:
Your chances of admission to a PGDM program in marketing will depend on several factors, including the specific program and its admission criteria, as well as the number of applicants and the competition for admission. A percentile of 66 in CMAT exam in the general category is a decent score, but it may not guarantee admission to the top-ranked institutes. However, there are many good PGDM programs in marketing that you may be eligible for. To get a better idea of your chances of admission, you should check the admission criteria of the PGDM programs you are interested in. Many institutes also consider factors such as academic background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in the personal interview and group discussion rounds. In addition to your CMAT percentile, you should also focus on building a strong application that highlights your strengths and achievements. This could include showcasing your academic performance, highlighting your work experience and leadership skills, and demonstrating your interest in the field of marketing. Overall, while a percentile of 66 in CMAT exam in the general category is a good score, admission to PGDM programs in marketing is competitive, and there is no guarantee of admission. It's important to research different programs, prepare a strong application, and have realistic expectations about your chances of admission.
