MAT May 2026 registration process has started. Candidates planning to appear for the exam in May, can fill the MAT application form 2026 at the official website. Last date to apply for MAT May PBT is May 25 and the deadline to submit MAT May CBT form is June 8, 2026. Candidates can opt for either of the two exam modes or both exam modes according to their requirement. They have to mention the number of exam modes and test city preference in the application form.

AIMA has increased the MAT application fee by INR 100. Now, candidates have to pay INR 2300 for a single session. Those who choose both modes (PBT+CBT), will have to pay INR 4000. Scroll down to read all about MAT 2026 registration and application process.

Documents Required for MAT Registration 2026

Candidates will have to upload a recent passport size photo and signature in the following format and specifications in the MAT application form 2026:

Q:   Do I need to fill separate forms for multiple MAT attempts?
A: 

For every MAT attempt in different phases you need to fill a separate form. However, if you are planning to go for more than one attempt in the same exam phase, they you can apply for a combination of two exam session.

Candidate can take MAT in the following modes and combinations:

  • Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or
  • Double Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT) or
  • Paper Based Test (PBT) or
  • Paper Based Test and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (PBT+IBT) or
  • Computer Based Test (CBT) or
  • Computer Based Test and Remote Proctored Internet Based Test (CBT+IBT) or
  • Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test (PBT+CBT) 

 The MAT application form will be common and candidates will have to only mention their exam modes in it.

Q:   How to select MAT test cities in the application form?
A: 
AIMA MAT provides two options as test city. Candidates have to select any two cities from the list mentioned in the online application form for test centre allotment. The MAT test cities are different for PBT and CBT, thus candidates must make sure they choose the mode of exam which will be conducted in their cities of preference. Candidates opting for MAT IBT exam do not have to select any test city as it is a remote proctored test and can be taken from any location. The option to select test city to MAT CBT and PBT candidates is given in the application form. Candidates have to fill their options in the form where the field appears. 1. Register for MAT session at AIMA MAT website 2. Login with the application number shared by AIMA and password 3. Fill the relevant fields in the first page of the application form 4. Select the exam mode from the drop down 5. Select any two cities from the drop down on the relevant page 6. Make fee payment and fill the rest of MAT application form 7. Click on submit to confirm exam registration.
Q:   Can I change my MAT exam mode from PBT to CBT after registration?
A: 

No, there is no provision to change MAT exam mode from PBT to CBT or from CBT to PBT after you have completed the registration process. You will have to appear for the exam in the mode selected in the application form and in the test city mentioned in the already submitted form. Thus, make the selection of exam mode carefully in the MAT application form.

Important Instruction for Filling MAT Application 2026

Given below are a few points to keep in mind regarding the MAT application form filling proces:

  • Fill the MAT 2026 application form with correct data and make no error as there is no provision of form correction.
  • Review all the information entered in the form once before hitting the submit button.
  • Personal information mentioned in the MAT application form will be used for further admission process, fill thefields with information mentioned in government IDs.
  • Check MAT eligibility criteria before applying. Applications of candidates not meeting the eligibility criteria will be rejected.

  • MAT application fee is non-refundable and candidates cannot claim refund.

  • For multiple MAT exam sessions (in different phases), multiple forms will have to be filled. The MAT fee is to be paid per session. 
  • However, candidates can combine 2 MAT sessions in the same examination phase for additional amount of INR 1,600.

MAT 2026 Application Form Filling: Common Mistakes to Avoid 

MAT application form 2026 cannot be edited once submitted. So, candidates must avoid making the following error while filling up the exam form:

  • The name should be as per the date of birth certificate or Class 10 certificate.
  • Select test city for PBT/CBT according to your convenience and availability, as once selected the options will be considered final.
  • Check fee payment status after making the payment to ensure the MAT 2026 application process is complete. The form will not get submitted until the fee is paid 

  • Mention functional email ID, phone number as all communication by AIMA will be done through phone and email.

  • Upload scanned image and signature in the AIMA MAT form as per the dimensions specified to avoid error. If the specifications are not correct, the form will be rejected.

MAT Application Process 2026: How to Apply?

MAT exam is conducted in February, May, September and December. The form filling process for every session is same. Those who have an existing login ID can use it for filling the form in multiple phases. Check below the process to fill MAT application form 2026.

  • Visit the official website of AIMA MAT, and click on register option.
  • Enter Name, Phone Number, Email ID, State/City and set a password. Confirm details and click on submit button. 
  • An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number.
  • Verify phone number using the OTP to confirm registration.
  • Use the credentials sent in email to fill the form.
  • Upload a recent passport size photo and signature. 
  • Select five MBA colleges from the given list. For more than five college selection, you will have to pay extra amount.
  •  Pay the MAT fee of INR 2200 through debit/credit card or net banking.
  • Add personal details, academic details, address, etc. in the next page.
  • Click the declaration check box to complete the process.

  • The minimum eligibility criteria for MAT is graduation. There is no minimum marks requirement for the entrance exam, but score accepting colleges have a minimum academic requirement of 50 % marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD canddiates)

Q:   What are MAT eligibility criteria?

Since MAT is an entrance exam for post graduate level management courses, the minimum eligibility criteria for MAT exam is graduation. Candidate should have completed graduation in full-time or part-time mode in Arts, Commerce or Science from a recognised university. The eligibility criteria for MAT PBT, CBT and IBT are the same. Final year graduation students who will be giving their final exam or awaiting results are also eligible to appear in MAT. There is no minimum score requirement in MAT. Candidates need to have passing marks in graduation.

Test cities for MAT CBT and MAT PBT are different. So, while selecting an exam mode in the MAT application form, candidates must check the list of cities in which that MAT exam mode is being held or not for that session or exam phase. Q:   How can I edit already submitted MAT application form?
A: 

There is no option to edit already submitted MAT application form. The online form once submitted will be closed forever. Admit card and test city allotment will be based on the information mentioned in the form. Thus, candidates must be very careful in filling the MAT application form. They should review every information and every field of their form before hitting the submit button.

Candidates can register again for the next exam phase, but in the next phase too, they will have to pay fee per session. MAT registration will not be carried forward.

Q:   Is the MAT application fee different for IBT, PBT and CBT?
A: 

The MAT application fee is same for all exam modes. The fee amount to be paid is INR 2200 for every single attempt irrespective of the exam mode. If a candidate wishes to combine two attempts (e.g. IBT+IBT, PBT+CBT, IBT+PBT, IBT+CBT), then they will have to pay INR 1500 additionally. Those who opt for additional test will get the benefit of additional 2 Management Institutes for sending their scores in addition to existing option of selecting 5 Management Institutes.

If you wish to take the MAT exam in following combination, then you will have to pay INR 3,600.

Q:   Is the MAT application fee refundable?
A: 

MAT application fee is not refundable. Candidates, while filing the MAT application form must make sure they have not made any error in the form so that they don't have to fill a fresh form and pay the fee again. There is no form correction option available either in MAT so in case they want to make any change in the MAT application form, they will have to fill a new form.

Q:   Can I edit the MAT application form after submission?
A: 
There is no provision to edit the MAT application form after submission. Unlike other MBA entrance exams, there is not provision of form correction in MAT. Forms submitted once will be final. If a candidate has made a mistake in the form or wishes to change any information they cannot do so. They will have to fill a fresh MAT application form with a new phone number and email ID. They will also have to pay the application fee again. Aspirants must note that the MAT application fee is non refundable so they cannot request for refund if they have filled the form incorrectly. Thus, it is very important for candidates to check each and every field of the MAT application form before hitting the submit button. In case they have filled incorrect information in any field, they must edit it before final submission.
Q:   Do I have to fill two MAT application forms if I wish to appear in both CBT and PBT?
A: 

No, candidates do not have to fill two MAT application forms if they wish to appear in both CBT and PBT. They only have to select both options in the MAT application form and pay the fee for second exam session too. The fee amount to pay for two MAT session (PBT and CBT) is INR 3800.  The fee is to be paid at the time of registration.

Yes, MAT score valid for MAH CET counselling for MBA/MMS. Candidates can apply for admission to Maharashtra MBA colleges by registering for the CAP round under non-MAH CET category. MAH CET CAP is conducted in July-August, every year.

MAT cut off is not the only criteria for MBA admission. Candidates have to appear for Personal Interview and Group Discussion conducted by the institutes for final selection. Those who do not clear this round are not selected for admission.

MAT exam duration is 120 minutes or 2 hours. Candidates have to solve 150 questions in the given time limit. There is no sectional time limit in MAT.
