The Supreme Court on Friday, July 2, issued a notice on a plea against the delay in NEET MDS counselling 2021. The plea, filed by a group of NEET MDS aspirants had sought direction to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to announce the date of counselling at the earliest. A Bench led by Justice Chandrachud has sought a response from the Centre, National Board of Examination (NBE) and Dental Council of India over the "unjust and infinite” delay in the counselling schedule.
The National Board of Examinations had conducted NEET MDS 2021 exam on December 16 and the results were announced on December 31. Students said that even after so many months, there are no updates regarding the NEET MDS 2021 counselling schedule.

"Umpteen efforts were made by the Petitioners to get in touch with the Respondents in order to get an idea about the schedule of the counselling, however, till today there has been no update, regarding the counselling," the petition said.
The plea also raised concerns regarding the conduct of NEET MDS counselling with NEET PG 2021 for which exam will be conducted after August 31, 2021. The court will again hear the matter on July 12.
