IIT Delhi hostel fee hike: Students protest against administration
Students say the continuous hike in mess fee left us with no other option but to protest against the administration.
IIT Delhi students are protesting against the fee hike in hostel and mess charges. The students have claimed that the average mess fee has been increased to approximately INR 7,000 per month, which is higher than other IITs.
The agitating students have also claimed that they pay INR 80-90 every day for the salaries and pensions of Board of Hotel Management (BHM) workers. BHM handles the salaries of hostel mess workers and it is drawn from the fees paid by the students. They said they also met the Dean of Student Affairs but to no avail. So, they started a protest against the administration today (April 10) in IIT Delhi.
IIT Delhi students also took to Twitter to highlight the issue. The students tweeted, βIIT Delhi, Institute of Eminence, where we have the best minds of India. Here, students have to fight 4 theie rights, to get good food at reasonable amount. It's often that administration have clear statement that if you feel fee is high just leave the hostel.β They went on to add, βIs this the solution from the administration side? Also, every time they have same excuse that it is due to inflation. Students are continuously being suffered in the Institute and they are not able to focus on their studies due to this type of scenario. @iitdelhi @AppscIITb.β
