Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, enriched its collection of ancient Sanatan wisdom with the inauguration of a dedicated Ramayana website. The launched coincided with the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir today on January 22, 2024. Users can access shlokas and translations from the Valmiki Ramayana at valmiki.iitk.ac.in. Also, the platform allows users to become editors, enabling them to actively contribute by making modifications to the content.
The official website issues an announcement, encouraging users to become editors, and states, “Users can now edit content. If you wish to be an editor, please submit your credentials.” Users of this portal can explore shlokas and translations conveniently organized into categories such as Sarga Wise and Shloka Wise.

Step 1: Visit the official Ramayana website of IIT Kanpur: valmiki.iitk.ac.in.
Step 2: Go through the homepage or use the provided links to access "View Shlokas and Translations" (Sarga Wise or Shloka Wise)
Step 3: Now, select the preferred script, language, and other customisation options
Step 4: The information will appear on the screen
Step 5: Download all the required information as needed
IIT Kanpur is also home to the “Gita Supersite,” a valuable online archive of Indian philosophical literature with a focus on Srimad Bhagwat Gita, in addition to the Ramayana website. This resource is consistent with new research indicating that reciting Sanskrit “shlokas,” or mantras, is directly linked to enhanced memory and increased brain activity. The Bhagavad Gita is available in English audio translations on the IIT Kanpur Gita Supersite, which also features Sanskrit chanting by Swami Brahmnanda.
