The overall score for a candidate in JEE (Advanced) 2024 will be the sum of their marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education, Pune, has recently released the top 20 percentile cut-off marks for 2024. For General and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates, the minimum required marks are 378, while for OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) candidates, it's 383. SC candidates must achieve at least 364 marks, and ST candidates need 366 marks. This marks a notable increase from the previous year's cut-offs, which were 348 for general and EWS candidates, 352 for OBC NCL, 331 for SC, and 323 for ST. To gain admission to IITs, candidates must satisfy one of two conditions: achieve a minimum of 75% in their 10+2 exams or be ranked within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective board examination categories.

For the top 20 percentile requirement, candidates must have passed their Class XII (or equivalent) board exam with at least five subjects and be among the top 20 percentile in their board exam. This calculation encompasses all mandatory subjects within a single academic year. Candidates aiming to enhance their board exam performance can either aim for a 75% aggregate (65% for SC, ST, and PwD) in one or more subjects after improvement or strive to rank within the top 20 percentile by improving grades in all subjects.

The subjects considered for calculating aggregate marks and fulfilling the top 20 percentile requirement are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language (the one with the higher marks if multiple languages are taken), and any other subject (the one with the highest marks).

The JoSAA 2024 counselling registration is expected to start on June 10. The result of JEE Advanced will be out on June 9 and the candidates who will be aligned ranks can then participate in JOSAA counselling for admission to the IITs.

IIT Madras conducted the JEE Advanced 2024 exam on May 26.  This year's exam comprised two papers, each totalling 180 marks with 51 questions. Passing JEE Advanced for IIT admission requires candidates to pass each paper individually and achieve a minimum aggregate score. Last year's cutoff for general candidates was 86 marks, but this year it may rise to approximately 95 marks.

More than 1.91 lakh students have registered for JEE Advanced 2024. Last year saw 1.89 lakh registrations, which have now risen to 1.91 lakh, with expectations for further increase. This figure marks the highest in the past 11 years of JEE Advanced records. 1. Download the JEE Advanced 2024 response sheet and also the answer key to be released on June 2.
2. Compare your answers in the response sheet with the answer key to determine how many answers you have marked correctly and incorrectly.
3. Refer to the marking scheme of JEE Advanced 2024 to calculate the total marks for the correct answers. Assign the appropriate marks for each correct response according to the marking scheme.
4. Identify the number of incorrect answers marked and subtract this count from the total marks of the correct answers.
5. The resulting score, after subtracting the marks for incorrect answers from the marks for correct answers, represents your final score in the exam.
