Students can choose from two-course options for graduate-level (duration – four years) - BSc (Basic) and BSc (Post-Basic), postgraduate level MSc in Nursing (duration – 18 months to three years) and PhD in Nursing (tw0 to three years). Eligibility criteria for the two is mentioned below:
- BSc (Basic)– Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and should be medically fit.
- BSc (Post-Basic) –Candidates must have passed Class 12 in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). One has to get a certificate in GNM (General Nursing Midwifery) and register him/herself as RNRM (Registered Nurse Registered Midwife) from the State Nurses Registration Council.
- MSc in Nursing -Candidates must have passed BSc Nursing / BSc Hons Nursing / Post Basic BSc Nursing with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate.
- PhD in Nursing -Candidates must have passed MSc Nursing with a minimum of 55 percent aggregate.

For nursing courses in Kolkata, Candidates need to qualify some exams and they are:
- NEET: The National Eligibility and Cumulative Entrance Test (NEET) is the only entrance exam in India for MBBS and BDS admission. The exam lasts three hours and 20 minutes and is administered offline once a year. For admission to MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BAMS, Veterinary, and other medical/paramedical schools in India, the National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the medical entrance exam. - JENPAS UG: JENPAS UG stands for Joint Entrance Test for Nursing, Paramedical and Allied Sciences Under Graduate Courses. It is a state-level entrance exam. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts the common entrance test and counseling for admission into the following Undergraduate Courses of Nursing and Paramedical & Allied Sciences for the academic session 2023-24 in various institutes in West Bengal.
