IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IIT Madras are the other institutions from India among top 200 in the world.

Four Indian institutions led by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru have been featured among the top 200 universities in the world in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2021.

The IISc Bengaluru is ranked among the top 100 in the world as it has been ranked between 90-100. It is followed by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay ranked between 126-150. The other two institutions from India ranked among the top 200 in the world are IIT Delhi and IIT Madras ranked between 150-200.

Among the top 10 universities in the world, all the positions have been grabbed by the United States and United Kingdom universities, with only exception being Tsinghua University ranked at 10.
Harvard University is leading the table followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, Stanford University and the University of Cambridge in the top five.

The World Reputation Rankings 2021 are based on a survey carried out between November 2020 and February 2021, which received a total of 10,963 responses from 128 countries. β€œ{Harvard University tops the ranking for the 11th consecutive year and the US remains the most represented country, with 57 institutions (down from 60 last year). The UK still has the second-highest number of representatives in the ranking – 25, the same as last year,” reads THE study.

As per the THE, in the survey, scholars are questioned at the level of their specific subject discipline. They are not asked to create a ranking themselves or to list a large range of institutions; they only name at most 15 universities that they believe are the best in each category (research and teaching).
