Bangalore University BA Admission 2022

Bangalore University offers three year BA programmes in the field of Arts. The BA programme is offered across four specialisations. Under BA programme of Bangalore University, candidates have an option to choose approved combinations from the following subjects:

Ancient History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Bharathanatyam, Carnatic Music(Vocal), Co-operation, Criminology, Dance, Drama, Data Processing, Drawing and Painting, Economics, Education, Geography, History, Journalism, Linguistics, Military Science, Music, Marketing, Theatre, Philosophy, Physical Education, Political Science,

Psychology, Public Administration, Rural Development, Secretarial Practice, Social Work, Sociology, Tourism, Western Music (Instrumental) and Women Studies

NOTE: BA in Criminology is a four-year course.

Admission criteria: For admission to both these courses, students must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria set by the University.

Eligibility criteria:

A pass in two-year PU examination conducted by the Karnataka PU Education Board or any other exam considered equivalent
Those opting for Bharathanatyam / Carnatic Music (Vocal) / Western Music (Instrumental) must have undergone two years of training from a recognised institute of Dance or Music or one-year bridge course in the field of Fine Arts
A candidate opting Drawing & Painting must produce a certificate for having undergone not less than three years training in the respective subject

Placements: I have still not yet entered my final year. I am not sure about placements or have much idea but I heard that the highest salary package offered is 10 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Infosys, Wipro, etc., visit the college for placements. We also have options to apply for internships during our second year in many firms.

Infrastructure: We have a Wi-Fi-enabled campus and a digital library. It has a good environment for studies and engagement. It also has good and budget-friendly canteens helping students to maintain their monthly expenses. It also has spacious classrooms with a decent amount of members.

Faculty: Faculty members are well-trained and versed. All teachers are friendly enough and help us gain real-world knowledge. Semester exams are typically easy if students analyze and study materials are provided. The college provides us with real-time teaching with well-trained faculty members. It has real-time curriculum.

Placements: About 100 students were placed in B.A. Psychology, which was divided into two sections, A and B, respectively. About 80 percent of the students are provided with internships, which give a lot of experience in their fields. However, the internships in psychology are not paid.

Infrastructure: The college has a lot of facilities available to the students, and the classrooms are pretty spacious. The college has three big libraries, which are accessible at any time. There are many hostels available at Kristu Jayanti College as well. The college has several clubs, such as the sports club, cultural club, and dance and drama club.

Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and understanding. Their teaching methods are really effective. The teachers at Kristu Jayanti College are very well-qualified and are mostly Ph.D. holders. There are two exams per semester, and sometimes they can be quite tough.

Other: Kristu Jayanti College is one of the best colleges for psychology. They provide internships to the students as well, giving them a very specific understanding and experience in that field. However, the network is quite bad on campus, and the Wi-Fi is not easily available to the students.

Placements: Most of my classmates are pursuing higher studies, while many others are working as teachers in schools. Some have secured positions in banks and companies. However, all these roles and jobs were obtained through their own efforts, not through the college, as there are no internships or placements offered by the college.

Infrastructure: The college has a good infrastructure with two buildings. The new building is equipped with modern facilities, including an auditorium. The campus also has Wi-Fi facilities and a canteen that offers affordable food options for students.

Faculty: The faculty members are helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable, with many holding Ph.D. degrees. They aim to make students industry-ready by organizing presentations, PPT sessions, and industrial visits to companies and banks. The semester exams are moderately challenging, but students can pass with proper preparation.

Other: I chose this course because of my interest in literature, history, and economics. It provides a comprehensive understanding of various topics that affect our surroundings. The campus hosts many events and fests like Ethnic Day, Folk Day, club inaugurations, and club valedictories. Scholarships are available from both the state and central governments. Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is so good with a nice ambiance. There is library, labs, classroom, free Wi-Fi, etc., are available. The college provides 3 hostels 2 for girls and one for boys. Hostel also provides mess. The food is also good. The college provides sports and games for students.

Faculty: Faculty members are good and friendly. The college is so good at conducting exams for students.

Other: College is so good to study and students are encouraged to participate in the college fests. College fees are not high and budget-friendly. The college conducts extracurricular activities and personality development programs for students. Academics and culture sports day is conducted in our college.

Placements: The previous batch had campus placements, and on average, per batch, there were 50 students who got recruited. Internship opportunities were provided, and certificate courses as well. Many companies like Google, EY, airline companies, and finance managing companies are also aligned with the college.

Infrastructure: The campus and infrastructure are very beautiful. It has a great environment and crowd. Hostels are average, but the other college facilities, like classrooms, labs, library, canteen, medical room, playgroup, and sports zones, are commendable. The cafeteria and the library are the best ones.

Faculty: The teaching and non-teaching faculty are very helpful, kind, and approachable. The teachers of the particular subjects are excellent at their work, and they provide us with knowledge that is relevant to real life as well. Semester exams and mid-term exams are followed up by the faculty in a very professional manner.

Other: My course is a Bachelor of Arts with a triple major in Psychology, Journalism, and Sociology, with additional languages and self-development programs. This college has given a huge range for my passion in psychology.

Placements: The placements are lousy. Mostly only people from the commerce department are the ones who get placements because the companies coming in are only suitable for them. Along with that its also minimum wage job offers like call center, exception worker etc. Internships too are not great and you'll have to find them yourself except one journalism internship they used to conduct but that tok was for the people from outside the college.

Infrastructure: I haven't stayed in the hostel, my mother did not like it. However there are 2 hostels the boys one that's off campus and girls one that's on campus. I have heard things about them that aren't all that bad or good. In time and curfews are at 6:30 pm so that's not good and you can't keep or use appliances like kettles.

Faculty: Several points: 1. A few teachers when I joined were beyond amazing. Eventually they all left college due to internal conflicts. One of them is still in college though. A few new ones who joined were good too but again most left formbwtter jobs. 2. Most teachers now, are one to hold grudges except w few they'll be unfair and subpar at teaching. 3. The course work and exam is by the Bangalore University. It's a v. bad course design. 4. Exams are timely but results are not I had to drop a year to get into Masters because of the delays.

Other: 1. Events campus fests are all fun because of student diversity so that's a good point. 2. Things to improve about the course, especially for psychology is to update it. Include relevant subjects and syllabus. 3. I had chosen a triple major (discontinued now) because at the time the professors were amazing. Wouldn't suggest the same now.
