In India, there is no clear definition or consensus about the tier structure for universities. But Central University of Jammu would probably be regarded as Tier 2 based on a variety of sources and rankings.

The general knowledge of the tier system is broken down as follows:

Tier 1: These generally comprise a few National Institutes of Technology (NITs), a few Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs), a few well-known central institutions with a solid track record in academics and research, and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Within the Central University of Jammu campus, there are multiple hostels available for students, with four hostels designated for boys and four for girls.
