Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Is DAV University good for BCom?

A:
The University is approved by UGC. DAV University (DAVU) offers degree and Diploma courses to candidates at UG, PG, and doctoral levels. The university offers the BCom course at UG-level lasting for three years. DAV University BCom course fees  range from INR 80,00 to INR 2.2 Lakh
Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, candidates can summarize the overall review of the courses offered:
  • Teaching and Curriculum: The teaching quality is overall good, with professors being helpful and knowledgeable. The curriculum is considered suitable for students, with a mix of theory and practical learning.
  • Placement Opportunities: While DAV University doesn't guarantee 100% placements, many reputed companies like Hero Cycles, Reliance Jio, and Samsung have recruited students. However, students must be prepared to compete with peers from other departments, and placements might depend on individual performance.
  • Infrastructure and Facilities: The university has decent infrastructure, with modern classrooms, laboratories, and recreational spaces. Hostel facilities are available, although some students find the food quality lacking.* Campus Life: Festivals and cultural events are celebrated throughout the year, providing opportunities for socializing and skill-building.
  • Research and Internship Opportunities: While these seem limited, some students reported getting internship offers during their summers, which can be beneficial for career growth.
  • Scholarship Options: Scholarships are available, making higher education more accessible to deserving students.
In conclusion, while DAV University may not excel in every aspect, it seems like a decent choice for those seeking a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. With its relatively affordable tuition fees and decent placement record, students may find it a viable option for pursuing their academic goals.

The college is academically good.
Placements: Out of 26 students in our class, 4 students got placed in different companies. Only 10-12 students appeared for interviews or screening rounds as most of us wanted to study further. Placements have a few pros and cons. If you are an average student, you get placed. If you are fortunate, then the company tend some strings, and you won't even have to appear for the last semester of your degree. You can get placed immediately. It gives you exposure even if you are not interested in a job at that time. All of the companies were technical, and even if there were one or two biology background companies, they were only offering customer care centre or HR positions. The salary package offered is generally low, i.e., 1-2 LPA. B.Sc and M.Sc students would be competing for the same position, which is the biggest con because an M.Sc student is more qualified than a B.Sc student. Still, healthwise companies selected many B.Sc students than M.Sc. They held interviews on the campus.
Infrastructure: The hostel I lived in the last year was the campus basement hostel. During rainy days, it becomes a swimming pool of sewage water. I suggest not to even think about opting for a basement hostel if it is an option. There is a new hostel which is under construction for boys, and it looks good. I think if it is available, I suggest to choose it. Non-vegetarian is not allowed in hostels or on the campus, so I suggest to opt for a PG. Girls are not given freedom in campus hostels, so I suggest to apply for out campus hostels or better PGs. Academic buildings and auditorium are good structurally, and there is no problem. A day scholar would enjoy infrastructure, parking, etc.
Faculty: Biotechnology faculty members are mixed. Mostly, there are amazing teachers who taught us with patience and care. If you are a hard-working student or even average, you can succeed with only a little revision. Labs are great for B.Sc students, but if you want to pursue PhD or something else, then I suggest to opt for a state university.
Other: There are a lot of fests. Even in lockdown, we had a couple of events which are an amazing entertainment booster. We have a student council, which is supervised by the dean of student welfare which includes student heads of all the clubs. I was also a part of it.

I'm satisfied with the faculty but not the other amenities provided by the university.
Placements: The university offered no placements for students of B.Sc. in biotechnology. But, there were some placements for other streams, especially business management and engineering. The university has below average placement rate. There were no placements for the senior batches of biotechnology too.
Infrastructure: Since the university was built only around 5 years ago, the infrastructure is still developing. But, the established infrastructure is good. There are decent labs, but they are not properly equipped with all the instruments required.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are well qualified and provide good education to the students. They support students in every aspect. They used to teach using PPTs as well as books. They provide proper notes to the students related to the topics for their exams. They maintained a healthy relationship with students.
Other: The university does organise extracurricular activities like fests and occasional activities.

Absolutely mindbogglingly, beautiful university.
Placements: Placements are not provided by the university for B.Sc students. But placements for MBA are decent enough with packages offered up to 8 lacs per annum. B.Tech students also have placements with the average salary of 4 lacs per annum. Companies like Intel, Wipro visited the campus for placements.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is available 24/7. The university also has a library which is open from 9 am to 10 pm. Hostel facility is good with separate hostels for girls and boys, and the food is healthy, nutritious and tasty. Labs are well-equipped to perform experiments and handle a class of 30 students.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, qualified, knowledgeable and friendly. Teaching quality is very good, and the faculty to student ratio is 1:10. The course curriculum is vast with heavy knowledge and exposure. The course is according to AICTE and very interesting with practical teaching kits.
Other: The university has different clubs for different areas of interests like music, debates, and extracurricular activities. The university is well-connected by roads and railways. The university conducts seminars with many motivational speakers.

Satisfied because of faculty and infrastructure.
Placements: The bachelor's in biotechnology have lesser placement scopes in India and all over the nation, because of the subject's more demanding the input for research. The placements are obvious after certain extra laboratory certificates post-graduation. The university is newly constructed. Only single batch has passed by. The placement took place in Ranbaxy, the leading pharma company with a package of about Rs. 5,00,000 per annum. The university has a placement cell which is much guiding and helpful.
Infrastructure: The university is fully Wi-Fi, all kinds of labs with all equipment and sufficient lab attendants, library with a quiet environment to study and various books, instant medical help, all sports and games are available, plenty of grounds, and gym facility. The classrooms are well-furnished with A.c. All the buildings have elevators. The university has a large canteen, and various stalls of bru, CCD, and other vendors at various locations.
Faculty: The university is under DAV brand, known for their teachers, approachable, and abundant faculty available. All the teachers are well-educated and experienced. They are strict and moral. Helpful, well guided, and treat us like they are our parents. The teaching staff is easily approachable.
