Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How many marks are necessary for B.Tech at G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology?

A:

Your score and rank in JEE Mains will determine the chances of you getting into the college. Also, only your rank in JEE Mains is going to decide the branch you will be alloted. There are total 9 engeneering branches in the university out of which 1 is headed by College Of Basic Sciences and Humanities (Biotechnology Engg)while the rest are under the College of Technology.

For branches like Computer and Information Technology, you really need to score good. Especially for general category students the closing rank is about under 40-50k. And for branches like electrical and electronics and communication engineering your rank must be around 90k. And for the rest branches like mechanical, industrial and production Engg, agricultural and civil engineering lower ranks under 3 Lacs may be considered.

Hope this helps.

Q:   Is it worth pursuing BVSC at GBPUAT?

A:
{Source: BVSC students & alumni}

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the key points:

Pros:

* Good teaching quality (some teachers are exceptional)
* Availability of dairy farms, poultry farms, and pig farms for hands-on experience
* Best campus, peaceful, and conducive to learning
* Scholarship opportunities for top-performing students
* Extracurricular activities, including webinars, sports, and cultural events
* Helpful faculty members and support services
* Good infrastructure, including hostels, laboratories, and library
* Opportunities for international exposure and scholarships

Cons:

* Limited job placements (around 15 students out of 40 get placements)
* Lower salary packages (Rs 25-30,000 per month) and limited scope for growth
* Infrastructure issues, such as outdated equipment and lack of maintenance
* Quality of food and hostel facilities could be improved
* Course curriculum can be overwhelming, leading to stress and burnout

Conclusion:
While GBPUAT offers a good academic environment, internship opportunities, and exposure to global practices, the job market outcomes might be limited. Students pursuing BVSC at GBPUAT must weigh the pros and cons carefully before making an informed decision. With improvements in infrastructure, teaching quality, and job placements, this institution has the potential to become a top choice for aspiring veterinarians.

Our college has good infrastructure.
Placements: About 65% of students get placed every year in our college. Many students got placed in the mechanical branch. The average salary package offered ranges between 6 LPA - 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies are L&T, Infosys, TCS, Byju's, Wipro, etc. Our college offers internships with a stipend of Rs. 20,000 per month. Students get internships if they score a high CGPA. All students should do industrial training for 1 month in an industrial area.
Infrastructure: Our college provides a whole floor for the ECE department. It has 2 regular classrooms and 2 conference rooms. We have smart classrooms. There is a separate section where all lab rooms are present. All labs are quite good with all the equipment. They are good in condition. Labs have assistants. Each department has Wi-Fi. There is no dedicated library in the department. We have a huge 5-floor library. It has a peaceful environment. You can get all your curriculum books for free. You have to return them after a fixed amount of time. The library has computers with high-speed internet. The internet speed is very slow in the hostel. All hostels are well-maintained and cleaned regularly. They have a 3-floor building with a warden. The hostel rooms and washrooms are very good in condition. Around 2 students can share 1 room. The Saraswati Hostel is for 1st-year students. The Mandakini Hostel is for second-year students. We have a separate mess. There is a canteen inside the mess. The first-year mess is very good. The food served in the mess is delicious. The hostel has a large space for games. We can play badminton and volleyball in our college. Our college has a huge stadium to play in and represent your college at different levels. Our college provides sports for girls like basketball, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, etc. A university hospital is located in the middle of the campus for free. You can get very basic medicines from here. The hospital staff is not the best.
Faculty: All teachers are qualified. They share their past experiences. They have good skills. The teaching quality is like NITs or IITs. The course is not perfectly relevant. You have to study mechanics in the ECE branch. The course does not make you industry-ready. It prepares you for the GATE exam if you take it seriously and do hard work by yourself. We have 2 prefinals, 1 lab final exam, and one final exam each semester. We have semester exams after every 4 months. We have to study the previous year's papers to pass exams.
Other: I have got my admission through the PMSSS scheme. I chose this course because it provides various options. Our teachers should provide better notes. Many events and fests are held every year in our college. You can participate in every fest. You have to pay ticket money. Our college conducts a main event named Colloseum. Our college conducts cricket competitions between branches. Sports events are held every year in our college. Our college conducts athletic meets.

Our college is very good.
Placements: Around 60% of students got placed in companies from on-campus placements. Many students got placed through off-campus placements. The average salary package offered ranges between 7 LPA - 8 LPA. The salary package offered by Byju's ranges between 6 LPA - 7 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, and L&T. Our college has a placement cell. Our batch of students can prepare for the GATE exam, and after clearing that, one can get a government job or better scopes of doing higher studies from IITs and NITs or go through tech lines. They can get placed in IT or tech companies. A few years before, one M.Tech student got an opportunity to go to South Korea for Ph.D.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is not much good. At first, you will not be able to locate our department as it gets shaded by the computer department. We have 2 conference halls with ICR boards. Some teachers take classes in these rooms while others take classes in the regular rooms. The regular rooms are not well-furnished. Labs are not much good. We don't have proper lab assistants. Around 4 hostels are allotted to B.Tech students. In the first year, 3 students can stay in one room which decreases by 1 through the following years, and in the final year, 1 student can stay in one room. The food served in the mess is not much good. The morning breakfast aloo ka paratha is best among the other food dishes. You will get boiled eggs, milk, etc. They provide chicken once a week. The food is almost the same every day with the same deals and vegetables. They provide a variety of food items. The nearest one to our hostels is the TIC canteen. The other canteens like Brijwasi and ABC are available near the hostel. There are markets on campus where you can buy basic needs. Wi-Fi facility is available in the hostel. A huge stadium is available in front of our hostel with 2 basketball courts and gymnasiums. Our college provides facilities for sports like basketball, basketball, cricket, table tennis, and chess. Our college has a library. It has good environment. You can get all your curriculum books. The library is equipped with air-conditioners and Wi-Fi. It has other civil services books.
Faculty: Our department has fewer teachers. Most of them are TPs. Sometimes 1 teachers teach 2 subjects. We have a lot of free time. Lab classes are conducted every week. There are 2 prefinals, 1 lab final, and 1 final examination for every semester. If any prefinal is missed then one can take re-exam in the pace of that. The pass percentage is 50%. Almost 80% of attendance is mandatory in our college.
Other: Our campus is very spacious with beautiful scenery. There is a lot of greenery and space for walking around the campus. Many events and fests are held in our college. They organise sports events, athletic meets, accolades, conflux, etc. Students can get financial help by applying for scholarships through the Nbsp portal. All your tuition fee is Rs. 50,000 got from Nbsp, and you have to pay for the mess and hostel charges.

Our college provides average placements.
Placements: Placements provided in our college are good, especially in the top branches. The average salary package offered is 4 LPA to 4.5 LPA. Many companies visit our college to recruit students. New startup companies offer a good salary package of 8 LPA to 10 LPA. Placements provided in ECE in the previous year were good, but this year, placements were dropped. Around 40-50% of students get placed in good companies.
Infrastructure: Our college has a computer center facility with more than 100 computers and a good LAN connection. Wi-Fi is available in our college, library, and some hostels. Labs have equipment. Library has all the books required for exams but of older versions. Food quality served in the hostel is average. It serves aloo paratha every day in the morning. Our college has a hospital for medical services. There are enough resources for sports. Our college organises many sports tournaments in a beautiful Stevenson stadium. Sports facilities are good.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are skilled and have 25-30 years of experience. Professors are always helpful to students. The course curriculum is the same as other colleges as our college follows AICTE courses and guidelines. Our college conducts two prefinals for 25 marks and an end-semester exam for 50 marks. If the course contains labs then prefinals are conducted for 15 marks and labs for 20 marks. The required pass marks are 50 for the course. It seems difficult in starting but average further.
Other: I chose this course as it is important for the future and has a vast scope in today's world. The syllabus is hard, but there are many opportunities. Our college is strict about attendance as students have to maintain 85% of attendance and for medical or some emergency cases it should be 75%. Our college organises many events every week and 7 to 8 big fests. Our college gives scholarships of Rs.800 per month to the top 3 students from every branch and tuition fee waiver to some students having a good CGPA and income certificate. Extracurricular activities are available, and there are some societies in our college.

Review of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.
Placements: Companies like TCS, Tech Mahindra, etc., provide placements to 90% of students. Most of the alumni of this college are working in reputed organisations like Oppo, Samsung, TCS, Tata Motors, Ashoka Leyland and many other international companies.
Infrastructure: It is a government college, so the infrastructure is very old. I will rate the hostel 4 because in most of the hostels, Wi-Fi facility is not available, and the food is not much good. No paid canteen is available, and girls don't get to eat food outside after 7 pm.
Faculty: The faculty members are very good, and they provide the best teaching to the students. Most of the machines and equipment are available for practicals. Professors are friendly and provide all kinds of help in tutorial classes. Even during the covid 19 situation, they conducted online classes well.
Other: Fests like Colosseum, Spardha, etc., are conducted here. Stevenson stadium is available for students.
