The college formerly known as National Maritime Academy is one of the seven legacy institutes that became as IMU in 2008. The college has fine infrastructure with all basic amenities needed for training cadets. The new 300 acre campus is under construction which will make it the Asia's largest campus. The campus has second largest simulator in the country after the navy.

It is the oldest marine college of India opened by our Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in year 1949 and is a Central Government College. Earlier it was affiliated to Jadavpur University but in year 2008 it came under Indian maritime university. This is a very prestigious institution with its high placement percentage and educational quality. Here teachers are highly qualified mostly are chief engineers in faculty members of this institute.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty and good placements.

Placements: IMI is the only college in North India that conducts marine engineering. It is the best option for those near Delhi NCR. In my batch of 40 students, 30 are placed; the rest got placements but it took time. My senior batch had around 70% campus placement, while junior batches achieved 100%. This college grows year by year in terms of placements. IMI collaborates with some of the biggest companies like Maersk Line, M.Sc. Fleet Management, Pacific International Line (Singapore), Dayra, and others. ...

How can I not recommend HIMT because its one of the best.

Placements: The placements at HIMT are way better than rest of the institute, In my batch nearly 85% are placed in various reputed companies like Synergy, Western Shipping, VR Maritime, Wallem, Feet Management, M.Sc. and D'Amico Shipping etc. Efforts put on by the management regarding the placements are appreciable, and they are reason behind all our success.

Good infrastructure and facilities and good placements with well experienced faculty.

Placements: In my college, 80 percent of students got placements. Top recruiters are BSM, MEARSK, M.Sc. EASTWAY, etc. More than 80 percent of students got internships. The fee for the ETO course is like 3 LPA for the full course, including food and hostel. The fees are less compared to other colleges by 20-30 percent. It has one of the most hi-tech VR labs.

We have many companies like MOL, MOLTA, PIL, D'amico, Eastaway, Marshall, Sanmar, and many more. If you stay clear throughout your semesters, it's not difficult to get placement in HIMT.

Placements: Approximately 70% of students were placed during the placement interviews for top companies like Synergy, MSC, Maersk, etc. However, the placement rate decreased after the COVID-19 pandemic. The companies offer roles such as deck cadet in the shipping industry.
