JMI Entrance Exam Pattern 2025: The Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) prescribes the JMI Entrance Exam Pattern. The JMI Entrance Exam 2025 exam pattern consists of the stages of the exam, sections, time duration, and marking scheme. Candidates preparing for the JMI entrance exam are advised to go through the exam pattern before starting their preparations. As per the exam pattern of the JMI entrance exam 2025, the B.A. Hons (Mass Media), will be of 100 marks out of which part A will be of 40 marks while part B will be of 60 marks. The time duration will be 1 hour 45 minutes. For the M.A. (Mass Communications) the total marks will be 200 out of which part A will be 120 marks while part B which will consist of Interview and Portfolio will be 45 and 55 marks respectively. The time duration of this exam will be 3 hours. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer for MCQs in all programs at the University. Candidates obtaining less than 15% marks in the Multiple Choice questions will not be shortlisted for interview/ admission. As per the general guidelines released by the university, candidates obtaining less than 30% marks in the descriptive part of the Entrance Test, wherever applicable, will not be shortlisted for interview/ admission. JMI or Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exam is a paper-pencil based test. The duration and pattern of test varies according to the course. The test duration for Mass Communication course is of 3 hours, whereas test duration for other courses lies between 1 hour 30 minutes to 3 hours. There are a total of 200 questions which are both multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and descriptive questions. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the Objective Type/Multiple Choice questions in all programs of the University. No marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempted or extra attempted questions.

Hence, on an average, candidates will get around five minutes for each MCQ. Candidates must keep a tab on the timing as JMI Exam is a time-pressed exam. Before the exam day, candidates are advised to prepare a time management strategy wherein a particular timing should be assigned for each section or subject. They must also note that they will not be given any extra time to complete the exam, nor will they be allowed to take breaks in between or leave before time.

The entrance exam for admission to courses offered at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) consists of two sections – A and B. These sections are explained in the table below.
