Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How is the overall infrastructure of LPU?

A:
{Source: BFA students & alumni]

LPU Campus Life provides an inclusive environment for girl students, allowing them to participate in extracurricular activities within restricted timings and dress codes. The college offers various sports facilities, coaching, and placement training, but charges extra for these services. Students have access to a well-stocked library and practical teaching methods using case studies. Security measures include guards and CCTV cameras, and outsiders cannot enter the campus without permission. Ragging is strictly prohibited, and students must seek permission to leave the hostel premises. Overall, the college provides a hygienic and supportive atmosphere for students with diverse backgrounds.

Based on the reviews provided, the overall infrastructure of the college appears to be mixed. Some students have reported issues with the quality of food, hostel accommodations and medical facilities, while others have praised the availability of Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms and libraries. It seems that some departments within the college may be better equipped than others. Additionally, some students have expressed frustration with the lack of time for sports and extracurricular activities due to strict attendance policies and heavy workloads.

Summary: The infrastructure of the college is inconsistent, with some areas such as Wi-Fi, labs and libraries receiving positive reviews, while other aspects like food, hostels and medical facilities have been criticized. Some departments seem to be better maintained than others and students have expressed concerns about the lack of time for sports and extracurricular activities.

Q:   Will I get a direct admission in LPU with 65 % marks in Class 12?

A:

No, Lovely Professional University does not offer direct admission. However, there are few courses to which admission is merit-based.  Aspirants scoring a 65% aggregate have a good chance of getting admission in LPU. Candidates seeking admission must visit the official website of the university to apply online. To apply for LPU, aspirants need to register for LPUNEST for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. LPU admission to most of the courses is based on LPUNEST score. However, national-level entrance exam scores are also accepted for admission to BA LLB (Hons), MBA, BTech, etc. Candidates must complete Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG courses. The selection rounds are followed by counselling and document verification.

Q:   What is the last date for LPU admission?

A:

LPU has released some of the important dates regarding admission 2025. The procedure to book LPU NEST 2025 exam slot can be checked here.  After completing the LPUNEST exam application process, the exam will be conducted as a remote proctored or test centre-based exam. The candidates can also check LPU NEST Exam Pattern and LPU NEST Syllabus here.

Check below the LPU admission process:

  • Application: The mode of application is online. The exam fee for LPUNEST is INR 1,000 for males and INR 500 for females.
  • Selection rounds: The university conducts LPUNEST for shortlisting candidates for various courses. LPU also accepts national-level entrance exams like CAT, MAT, CLAT, etc.
  • Admission confirmation: As soon as the selection rounds are over, candidates need to pay a fee to confirm their seat in the university.

Q:   Is LPU better than IIM?

A:

IIM has limited seat and getting into an equally good college for MBA can be difficult. LPU has marked a place among the top private universities. LPU gives students qualifying CAT an advantage to get into the top university with their CAT score. Wheather, it is ranking, placement, fee; the MBA course of LPU is a great option.

Rankings

When we talk about rankings, LPU MBA course has been ranked by NIRF under the 'Management Category' in 2023 rankings at 32. The university is ranked in Business and Economics at 2nd position in the World University Rankings 2023.

Placements

LPU has an excellent placement record. Looking at the past placement data of LPU, it gives a tough fight to low ranked IIM. During LPU placements 2022, 1,050 recruiters participated in the placement process and placed students in various new-age job roles. The LPU the highest package offered in 2022 stood at INR 64 LPA (domestic).

Fee

IIM has very high fee when we compare it with LPU. So, getting into LPU can be easy financially than IIM. The fee range of LPU MBA is between INR 7.60 Lacs and INR 9.60 Lacs whereas, for top IIM fee ranges between INR 20 Lacs and INR 27 Lacs as per an unofficial source.

Q:   How much percentile is a good score in CAT exam?

A:
The worthiness of CAT percentile depends on the MBA college you want to take admission into. For a Tier 1 B-School, 95 + percentile is a good score, whereas for a Tier 2 institute, 80-90 percentile is a good score. Admission cut offs of the Iims are always 95 percentile and above.

Still a Long road ahead for LPU.
Placements: Not many companies come for Fine arts. And even if they come only one specialisation gets placement. And they don't keep a check on how companies are treating their students. Only internships are offered in our course so that's really bad and not satisfactory.
Infrastructure: A lot of facilities were missing. Hostels are bad. Over priced and poorly maintained. Wi-Fi is everywhere but there are a lot of things more which are missing. Not many books for every course are available in Central Library and department library is having very less access hours.
Faculty: Faculty members are always busy in paper work rather than teaching. Highly qualified yet poor teaching skills and the biggest issue is language. Teachers from other states find it very difficult to teach sometimes. A few teachers are good but majority of the staff is bad.
Other: Its a Mini world.

I am dissatisfied with the management and poor placements for our course.
Placements: They are charging high for in-school placements. None of the companies is interested in taking students from the fine arts department. Our department faculty members request other departments like animation & design to try sending their placement companies for our students also.
Infrastructure: Our department is working well with carrying the facilities and infrastructure development to make it workable for students. Their demands get approved. As an artist or a designer, I can say it's good.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful, but they are stuck in between the teaching and stabilising the ongoing business of Lovely Professional University. It is pathetic to any person who is indeed a qualified teacher and just came here to spread all his/her knowledge to the students.

Average. Infrastructure and facilities are good.
Placements: About 30% students were placed. The highest package was 20k per month, the lowest was 8k per month and average was 12k per month. Amazon, code brew were top recruiters. 20% students got internship in code brew. Graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, sculptor, painter.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is fine. Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library are good. Each department has their own library and has all the books related to the courses. Hostels are fine, security is tight. Canteen, medical facilities games and all are available. Food is not that good but you can survive on it.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful and some are not. They are qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is okay-okay. The course curriculum is relevant but they need to improve it a little by teaching students software like illustrator too. We learnt that software on our own.
Other: I chose this course because I was always interested in art. Best thing about my course is you can learn everything that is sculpture, graphics, painting and photography in first year and in second year you have to choose between those 4 options for your career. If I had an opportunity to improve something about my course then I would give students more knowledge about more software rather than just asking them about their assignments. Lpu is really good for events and extracurricular activities, surroundings also nice.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of faculty.
Placements: 5 to 6 students got placed out of 40 students in internship. Maximum salary is 8000. No top companies come for my course. Companies like Code Brew came to the campus where no one wanted to get selected. Few students got forcefully selected. Top roles are junior graphic designer.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is poor, Labs are fine, classrooms are fine, Library is good. The quality of food available in the mess is not good. They rebuilt the hostel canteen into a dormitory. Medical facilities are okay but huge amount of Medicines are provided for a simple fever. You can't play sports because of less time and compulsory attendance and assignments.
Faculty: Only few teachers were knowledgeable. These teachers left soon.

Keep in mind that individual experiences may vary, but overall, LPU appears to be a reputable institution for studying Architecture.

Q:   What is the difference between CAT score and CAT percentile?

A:

CAT score is the total marks a candidate receives out of the maximum marks, calculated by subtracting the marks of incorrect answers from the marks of correct answers. For every correct answer, +3 is given to the candidates, for every incorrect -1 is deducted from the overall score. Apart from this, a candidate's rank is calculated by normalizing the scores of all candidates and placing them on a common scale based on the difficulty and attempts of the candidates. It is important to understand the difference between CAT score and CAT percentile because IIMs and all MBA colleges in India select candidates on the basis of their CAT and other MBA related exam percentiles and not score.

The CAT percentile is referred to as the rank of a candidate against the rest of the test takers. The percentile indicates the total percentage of candidates who scored less than or equal to a particular candidate in CAT.

Suppose,1,000 people take an exam and you bag the top rank, which means 999 candidates scored less than you. Then your CAT percentile will be 999/1000*100 = 99.9.
