I am satisfied with the faculty, but the infrastructure and facilities didn't meet my expectations.
Placements: Almost 60% of students were placed until now. Placements are still going on smoothly. The highest salary package offered till now is 30 LPA. The average salary package offered is 10 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Flipkart, Cisco, Optum, etc. Around 40% of students got internships in companies like Amazon, Flipkart, ZS Associate, etc. Top roles offered are SDE, data analyst, full-stack developer, GET, etc.
Infrastructure: We have Asia's 2nd largest digital library that consists of centralised air conditioning with the availability of various books. Every semester, they provide 4-5 books to every student. Labs and classrooms are well-furnished with projectors and CCTVs. Wi-Fi is decent for daily work, but sometimes it slows down.
Faculty: Our teachers are helpful and approachable. They have well-qualified teaching skills. The teaching quality is excellent. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready, I also got a job in an industry recently. Exams are from medium to high level depending upon the subject credit.
Other: I chose this course because I had a keen interest in electronic devices. This course provides the integration of electronics with instrumentation. It is relevant nowadays in all industries. Up to the 3rd year, the daily class schedule is hectic interacting with the regular assignments, projects, and labs. That's what I want to balance so that students get some extra time to explore themselves too. There are various events held in our college, among those Incandescence and Tecnoesis, which are the most popular where we get to show our talents and also get some exclusive experience along with concerts of famous artists. The connectivity is not that good because of its location. Scholarships are given to all eligible students. There are various extracurricular activities including sports, dance clubs, singing, etc.

Above average college because location is not good.
Placements: In civil engineering, 70% of eligible students get job offers. The highest package is 28 LPA, and the lowest is 6 LPA. I cannot reveal company names. Internship opportunities with stipends are very few. You may get research internships at IITs, which do have stipends. Graduate engineer trainee is a common role.
Infrastructure: For Wi-Fi, you will get a LAN cable, which has very high speed. Sometimes you will face difficulty accessing the internet used by students. Labs are good; you can perform every experiment mentioned in the curriculum. The mess is decent, not good. Canteens are good. Our campus has a dispensary, a cricket ground, a football ground, a volleyball court, basketball courts, table tennis tables in each hostel, and a badminton court.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful. All teachers have knowledge, but the delivery of some is boring. The course curriculum is 70% relevant. In the lab, AutoCAD and STAAD.Pro are included, and you can use software during projects. The syllabus is the same in all NITs. The first year is typically more hectic than the rest of B.Tech. life.
Other: I chose civil engineering due to my interest in construction and my family background in civil society. It has many government job opportunities. They should change some of the outdated syllabus. Events (Technoesis, Incand) are held on a 625-acre green campus, so there is no crowding. You can get an NSP scholarship. Extracurricular activities include NCC, the karate club, and clubs for each sport that conduct sessions for inter-NIT competitions. There is also a trekking club, etc.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2027

Very disappoint, had expected more.
Placements: The placement of CS and ECE branches is good, but it's not the same case with the electrical and other branches. Placements for the electrical branch were at 35% in the 2023 pass out batch. This was stated by none other than the professor who manages CCC services at NITs. There seems to be a reason behind it that I can't disclose here; you might want to consult a senior studying at NITs for further details.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi available in my institute. A LAN connection is provided, but it functions improperly 50% of the time. Regarding cellular (mobile data), if you possess a 5G-capable device, you might be able to browse the internet; otherwise, it's important to note that using 100MB on a 4G handset will be challenging due to the speed. The quality of the mess food is extremely poor. Medical facilities are accessible 24/7, while sports and games are available 8 hours a day, 7 days a week. None of the colleges can rival the natural beauty and scenic views that our college offers; this is its sole positive aspect.
Faculty: I would again advise you to speak with someone studying at NIT Silchar. The teachers and faculty members there are truly knowledgeable. If you study consistently, you will surely pass. However, I can assure you that this rule may not apply to one or two subjects per semester.

A short review by a Mechanical Engineering student on NIT Silchar.
Placements: Over 90% of students are placed through college campus recruitment. The highest salary package offered was 80 LPA and the average salary package offered was 6 LPA. Every student must complete an internship at the end of the 6th semester, which is compulsory. However, if one wishes, they can pursue other internships on their own.
Infrastructure: Hostel premises are built with various designs, and each hostel is unique in its layout. In the hostel, we are provided with Wi-Fi and all the basic facilities we need. Canteen offers food at a very reasonable rate, and the mess food is okay, though not always appetizing.
Faculty: Faculty members are helpful, and all are highly qualified to deal with students. Course is relevant to every mechanical aspect that we need to know. Semester exams are moderate, and the pass percentage is around 90% to 95%. Yes, it prepares students to be industry-ready.
Other: It provides everything needed to grow in life, but the course is a bit expensive, I would say. My course is mechanical engineering. Best things about my course are the teachers, their helpful nature, and the subjects I love.

Internal review of the college .
Placements: The admission and placement scenario of our campus is decent. Many MNC companies have come, and many are coming. Nearly 200 companies come every year. The internship scenario is also decent. In the ECE branch, most students are placed in tech, and others are in core companies. Some tech companies are Microsoft, Atlassian, and Goldman Sachs. Some core companies are BEL, BHEL, and some PSUs.
Infrastructure: Classes are not up to the mark, and labs are not good enough according to the NIRF ranking. Hostel facilities are also not good enough. Some classrooms are old and broken. The hostel Wi-Fi system is not good, and the food quality is very poor.
Faculty: Some faculty members are very good, but some are very poor. They don't know what they are teaching. The curriculum is relevant for industrial systems, but semester exams are very difficult, and questions are very tough in some subjects.
Other: My batch of 2026 in the ECE branch has nearly 190 students. Everyone comes from different places and states, so we can learn about other cultures, traditions, and languages.

I am satisfied because of the good ROI and helpful seniors and faculty.
Placements: For CSE students, the placement is almost 100%. The highest package offered last year was 80 LPA, the lowest package was 8 LPA, and the average is about 16 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Goldman Sachs, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, LinkedIn, etc. The internship opportunities are also good here, with companies coming from the 5th semester onwards to hire interns.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is decent, and the Wi-Fi is also quite good. However, the labs and classrooms' condition is on the bad side. The library is fully air-conditioned and is Asia's biggest digital library. Hostel life is amazing, but the mess food is very bad. The breakfast and dinner are eatable, but the lunch is the worst.
Faculty: The teaching faculty is very knowledgeable and helpful, with a decent teaching quality—not exceptionally great, but not bad either. Semester exams are very hectic, with no gaps between exams. The curriculum is considered very stressful, although it is designed to make students industry-ready.
Other: I chose this college because of its good placement and good ROI, and the fests are amazing.
