It is an average course. However, there is a good infrastructure and excellent campus life.
Placements: The post-graduate course offered by the university caters to students who wish to pursue their doctorate. Therefore, most of the students opt for a PhD. Some of them also opt for government jobs. Only a very few students had applied for campus placements, and about 60% of them got placed. The highest salary package offered was about 6 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. Most of the recruiting companies here were startups and local companies. About 30% of students got internships in some physics institutions like JNCASR, SINP, etc.
Infrastructure: Our university was established in 1916. Most of the labs and libraries undergo regular up-gradation of infrastructure. The classrooms are good and provide an ambient environment for studies. The library is open during the exams to help students. The hostel facilities are good, and the food available in the mess is nutritious and of decent quality, as can be expected from a college hostel. The university has good medical facilities. Sports events are held regularly, and students are encouraged to actively participate in the same. Facilities like basketball courts, badminton courts, cricket and football grounds are available and are maintained well.
Faculty: Most of the teachers here are helpful and qualified. The teaching quality is good. But the curriculum needs to be upgraded as it is not up to the mark for a post-graduate course. A rigorous and thorough approach is required to train students for their research which was found to be lacking in the current curriculum. Semester exams are not difficult, and almost every student passes as they are expected to study a couple of derivations which are regularly repeated in the exams.
Other: I chose this course because I could concentrate on my government job exams. This course seemed to be easy for me and did not require much studying. The course is not industry-relevant and needs to be updated a lot to prepare students for research. Events are lively, and the campus fests and crowd are lovely. There is a vibrant display of different cultures and languages of students who come from different parts of the country. The campus is surrounded by greenery, and it has many gardens for students to relax. There are many kinds of scholarships for all kinds of students.
