B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2028

An insight from the inside of VIT.
Placements: I am studying B.Tech Computer Science (first year). Our batch has nearly 4,500 students in computer science alone. My passing out year is 2028. In my college, almost 90% of the students were placed this year. The highest offer was 1 crore per annum, while the average is 10 LPA. The lowest offer was 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Meta. Most of the third-year and some of the second-year students try for internships, and the college provides good opportunities to both groups, not only for internships, but also for placements in their upcoming session. The top roles offered are software development engineer, data analyst, and data scientist.
Infrastructure: The labs are up to industry standards, and the Wi-Fi facilities inside the labs are top-notch. Some labs have old computers, while others have computers with up to 32 GB of RAM. Classrooms are well-equipped with smart boards. The library has the best environment for studying and focusing on daily goals. The hostel facilities are good. Each hostel block has two caterers, and students can choose their caterer each month. Both provide good food with enough nutrients. There are many food stalls here, each providing quality, tasty food. There is a medical center where students can go if they are suffering from any illness, and they will be treated, admitted, or quarantined based on their needs. Our college has two football fields, three volleyball fields, two tennis courts, and one cricket ground for sports. Students can also play chess, carrom, and other indoor games in their free time.
Faculty: Each faculty member here has a doctorate from a reputable university. They teach in a very friendly manner. There are some faculty who don't teach well, but they provide us with sufficient knowledge. The course curriculum for the first year is not up to industry standards, as students are required to study physics and chemistry, but it gets better from the second year, where core subjects are included. The curriculum from the second year on is industry-relevant and on par with industry needs. The exams are easy to moderately difficult, and students need 50% to pass.
Other: Computer science is a blooming field, and choosing this course has never given me any regrets. I have exposure to various domains, such as web development, Android development, full-stack development, and ethical hacking. This course could be further improved by taking students on more industrial visits and having them discover industry needs in their domain. Our college has two main fests, called TechnoVIT, which happens in September, and Vibrance, which happens in March. The exposure on campus is good, and we can connect with people of various cultures. There is a large crowd at VIT. We can take part in any club we like, grow our connections, and indulge in our interests. There are almost 133 clubs at VIT, each with its own unique demeanor. Students can enroll in these and make the most of their time.

VIT - A place to learn and grow.
Placements: Nearly 90% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered is around 24 LPA. The average salary package offered is 8 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is around 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Google and Amazon. They provide entry-level jobs. As a fresher, I don't know how many percentage of students got internships. Other than that, placements are pretty good.
Infrastructure: Our college provides all the necessary facilities. Every class has a projector, speakers, mic, and Wi-Fi access for all students in both the college as well as the hostel. Our college library is a great place if students are seeking a silent environment to study. It has a large amount of books from journals to fictional books. Our college also has every kind of lab needed, and it contains a variety of standard tools and machines to practice with. The infrastructure of the hostel is great but the quality of the food available is not up to the standards. Medical facilities are decent and there is a large number of sports and games to play in our college like basketball, football, table tennis, etc.
Faculty: All teachers present here are well-knowledgeable. They teach students in a way where one would get an interest in the topic. The course curriculum is relevant and provides a fair amount of knowledge and practice to make students industry-ready. Semester exams are pretty hard to score high marks but it is pretty enough to clear the course. The pass percentage is around 95% for our course.
Other: I chose this course because it has value in the future as the semiconductor industry is developing rapidly. As a fresher, I can't say anything about improvements until I get experience around here. Also, our college holds many kinds of events and fests like Vibrance, Technovit, and many more. Campus life here is great. There are many spots to hang out here. Our college provides scholarships that are approved by the government.

A journey of ups and downs of the college life of a student.
Placements: More than 80% students get placed in our department. The highest package offered was 1 Crore for an international company and 59 Lacs was the domestic package. More than 500+ companies visit our college with top companies being Deloitte, Infosys, TCS, Mahindra, etc. I don't remember the exact percentage of students who got internships, but companies do come to recruit the students based on the skillsets.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are Wi-Fi-enabled and there are less number of modules in our courses. Also the lab is very useful as it helps to get practical exposure which is required for a particular company. Hostel is good and we are having separate beds and fans for each individual. But we all know the quality of food in the mess is not good. Overall, the sports and medical facilities are good.
Faculty: The faculty members are highly qualified and they help us in every situation. They make us understand through practical applications so that we can do things in a better way. The course curriculum is relevant to the demands in the companies. There are a lot of exams in our college but the level of exams is on the easy side.
Other: There is a cultural fest called Vibrance which is held in the month of March and a technical fest called TechnoVIT which is held in the month of October every year. Overall, the campus is not that crowded when compared to the Vellore campus.

Review of Vellore Institute of Technology - Chennai Campus.
Placements: I am currently in the 2nd year of my course, B.Tech CSE (AI&ML). The main reason I joined this college is the placements opportunities it offers. The highest salary package offered is 1.2 crore per annum and the average salary package offered is 10 LPA. This data is from last year, as the current year placements are ongoing. Placements percentage is around 93%.
Infrastructure: The attractive part of this college is the campus infrastructure and hostel. It is very well-planned and built. Whole campus is equipped with Wi-Fi. Labs of all courses are very well-equipped with top-class equipment. The quality of food provided in the hostel is excellent.
Faculty: Every professor in our college is highly qualified with a PhD in at least one subject. Their teaching techniques are really good. The difficulty of exams is moderate would be the most appropriate way to describe it. The pass percentage is above 80%.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Absolutely amazed by infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: About 60% of students are placed in this year’s placement drive with the highest package of about 75 L, the lowest of around 3 Lacs, and an average being 9-10 Lacs. The top recruiting companies of this year were TCS, Krypto, Microsoft, and AppDynamics. The internship rates are very high here with an approximate of 70-80% in companies like VITSOL. The roles offered in my courses are Design Engineers, Automobile Engineers, Aerospace Engineers, etc.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure of the college are good, with good classrooms and various labs such as CAD Lab, IC Engines lab, Programming lab, physiometric lab, Robotics Lab, Calculus Lab, and so on. The college has an amazing three-floor library with a centralized AC system and easy book borrowing and submitting systems. In the hostel also, there are various facilities such as 24/7 water supply and drinking water. Even if you want hot or cold water, the water coolers are placed at every floor for this. The only drawback is the time of hostel is 9 P. M. and they don't allow any kettles or induction in there. The food provided by the mess is amazing here, especially CRCL and Fusion. They have good hygiene and maintain cleanliness in the dining area.
Faculty: The faculty here is good, but there are some exceptions also. The teachers here are highly qualified in their field, and their teaching style is great too. The course curriculum here makes a student ready for an industry, and these curricula are relevant too. If you want to opt for some electives about your interest, you can take that too. They also have a fully flexible credit system which allows you to create your own timetable according to you. Here, there are three exams taken per semester: Continue Assessment Test 1, Continue Assessment Test 2, and Final Assessment Test, which are at a good level, not so easy, not so hard.
