Excuses are never the solution: Shivam Chawla
During my schooldays I had a keen interest in Commerce so I did my graduation in B Com from Shyam Lal College, Delhi University. Now what's interesting in my story is that I did what I am passionate about and not what others told me. And my friend, if you do something with passion you will definitely succeed in life.
I scored 8.4 CGPA in class 10 then and took up Commerce in class 11 and 12 because I believed I could score 90%.I didn’t score as per my expectation but I didn’t complain because excuses are never the solution. I joined Shyam Lal College. In college I participated in many extra-curricular activities. I also started giving tuitions for extra income. After graduation, I appeared in CAT to get enrolled in an MBA programme in a reputed institute. I couldn’t score well in CAT, but I didn’t lose hope and appeared in IP University MBA entrance exam. I scored 123 rank.
I would like to share what you should do from Class 12 onwards. If you are from Science stream the good options for you is BTech, BSc Computer Science or any other certificate program based on your interest from a reputed institute. On the other hand, if you are like me, from Commerce stream you can do BBA, BCom, BCom (H), Eco (H), English (H), CA, CS, etc. But what is important is that if you don't get the desired course, never feel disheartened. Graduation is just the beginning and you can do more with your skills.
Don't completely rely on your graduation that it will give you your dream job because 99% it will not. So, along with graduation, participate in extra-curricular activities and prepare for entrance exams for post graduate courses. Because only graduation is enough in current job scenario.
One more important thing is to work really hard. Giving tuitions side by side or studying financial market also very good option as these activities develops your mind, you become more hardworking.
Now some important tips for entrance exams like MBA, MCA, BBA, CPT:
- Pay more attention to Quant, Data Interpretation and English.
- Read as many newspapers, business magazines, journals, novels as you can to improve your vocabulary and reading speed and knowledge about current affairs.
- For vocabulary remember words with mnemonic dictionary. It will give you memory aids which is very useful.
- Also, if you don't like reading newspapers, work on your GK daily
- Practice from NCERT books from 6 to 10 also helps you.
- Work smart. Download apps related to vocabulary, Quant and other topics There are millions of applications available online
- Reading novels is very important. Develop a habit of reading. Trust me you will like it and it will be very beneficial.
My advice for you is to start preparing from today because there is no right time. If you postpone and think about doing it after exams or after some occasion; believe me you won’t be able to prepare.
After reading this, don’t think that you are late or you missed so many days. You have only one life and if you live it with regrets then it will be very difficult.
The main thing is, your life is based on binary system where there is either 0 or 1. So, ultimately it’s you who can do something to get in that 1 zone because there are no space for average people. This is a hard fact of life.
Hope this article helps you. All the best.
