Our classes are mix of lectures, discussions and moot sessions: R. Shanmuga Sundaram

I wanted to be a small fish in a big pond for a change. After completing our schooling, it is a particular phase in our lifer life where we need to take an important career decision. In today’s age, there is a plethora of options but my first preference was Legal Education. The Legal Education is the main foundation that helps the society to work towards the welfare of people. After completing high school, when the time came to choose the college, I got to know about the Chettinad School of Law, CARE. It is the one of most disciplined institution with the best infrastructure among the prevailing universities in the state, approved by BCI and recognised by UGC. The School of Law is also the member of IUCN Academy of Environmental Law. These accreditations and the overall reputation of the college made my decision easier.

Before I came to know about this college, I had plans of joining other universities or institutes and tried few options too. However, I finally made up my mind for joining BA, LLB (Hons) programme at Chettinad School of Law. The School of law has a dedicated Internship policy where the students are send to different places for gaining hands-on experience from the beginning. The school also has a variety of tailor-made new-age honours courses/specialisations both at UG and at PG level. The students are immensely benefitted by the various Capsule courses conducted by the college throughout the semester such as, in the last semester, school invited a renowned professor from Poland

The basic eligibility criteria for joining a Law course is a valid score in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The entrance exam is conducted annually every year and the admissions are based on the cutoff scores announced by the institute. Some popular Law colleges also accept LSAT scores also. I appeared for both the exams and prepared by myself by going through different study materials regarding the legal education. I prepared regularly to achieve my aim of joining a reputed Law University.

Our classes are mix of lectures, discussions and moot sessions. These sessions and classes help us understand the law system and grasp the concepts with ease. We are allowed to interact freely and raise questions and take part in discussions. Moreover, we are also encouraged to take part actively in various sports activities, extra-curricular, inter-collegiate events and conferences.  I’m eagerly waiting for the next Moot Court competition. All these interactive session and activities helps to boost my confidence and prepare for a better tomorrow.

Post completion of this course, I have plans to pursue post-graduation (LLM and PhD) courses in the same university. My ultimate goal is to work for the welfare of the society. Through a detailed understanding and knowledge of Legal Education, I would ensure that justice prevails in the society.
