B.Arch is a popular career choice that can be very rewarding in terms of career growth and reputation and is one of the most sought-after courses after engineering and medicine. This course is offered in various popular Architecture and Planning colleges across India and is one of the most important disciplines of all. B.Arch is opted for by thousands of students every year. Architecture courses are offered by a few IITs and NITs as well as other private and state universities. To pursue a Bachelor of Architecture from a renowned architecture college, students need to keep in mind the eligibility requirements for various entrance examinations and colleges in India. B.Arch Admission Procedure 2024

The admission to BArch course is usually offered based on JEE Mains or NATA.

BArch Admission through JEE is as follows:

Step 1: Check the basic eligibility criteria for the BArch course

Candidates applying for BArch should ensure that they fulfil the basic eligibility criteria prescribed for the course before proceeding with the application process.

Step 2: Read the official notification of JEE Mains entrance exam

Candidates are advised to read the official notification of the JEE Mains exam wherein the form-filling process is explained in detail.

Step 3: Fill in the JEE Mains online application form

Students have to complete the registration process on the official website of the entrance exam. They are advised to fill in the necessary details and upload the required documents as per the formats mentioned in the notification. Pay the application fee to complete the registration process.

Step 4: Download the Admit Card for JEE Mains exam

The admit card for the exam is usually released a month before the exam is conducted.

Step 5: Appear and qualify for JEE Mains Paper 2

Candidates who perform well in the exam and score marks above the cut-off can appear for further rounds.

Step 6: Appear for the JEE Advanced Exam and qualify for it.

JEE Advanced exam is the second round of exams for admission to the BArch course. It consists of 2 papers which are conducted in a single day.

Step 7: Appear for the AAT exam and qualify for it.

The AAT Exam is the third and the last entrance exam that has to be qualified by the candidates to secure admission to the BArch course.

Step 8: Participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) process

Candidates can choose their colleges to pursue BArch based on their performance in the entrance exams and their preferences.

Step 9: Participate in the Document Verification process

The candidates have to carry their original documents and get them verified. This is usually the last step in the admission process through JEE.

A. Bachelor of Designing and Bachelor of Architecture are both undergraduate courses that may sound similar to the candidates but there are wide range of differences between both the courses. 

B.Arch B.Des
It is a five year course. It is a four year course.
Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12th are eligible to apply. Students from all disciplines can pursue this course at undergraduate level.
It doesn't offer any specialisations. Candidates can specialise in various areas such as Footwear Designing, Fashion Designing, Interior Designing, Textile Designing, Animation and Film Designing.

Q. What is NATA?

A. National Aptitude Test in Architecture popularly called as NATA is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admissions to B.Arch programme across top architecture colleges. This entrance is conducted by Council of Architecture (CoA) in three phases and is a computer-based test. Candidates have the option to either give one or two or three attempts. The total number of questions are 125 and the exam is conducted across 136 cities in India. NATA doesn't conduct their own counselling and candidates have to appear to their desired colleges for admission on the basis of the score and rank in NATA.

Q. What are the designing and drawing skills required to clear B.Arch. entrance examinations?

A. To clear AAT or any other B.Arch entrance examination, candidates must be well-trained and proficient in designing and drawing skills. They must have knowledge on freehand drawing which consists of simple drawing of domestic objects. They must also know about Geometrical Drawing which consists of drawing geometrical figures and have a knowledge on plan and elevation. They must also be well-versed with perceiving three-dimensional objects and its visualisation and possess architectural awareness.
