A:

In the past five years, there has been a steady decline in enrollment for B.Tech and B.E courses due to a reduction in job opportunities in core streams. Fresher hiring by IT companies has notably decreased,  dropping from 26% of overall passouts in FY22 to 15% and 10% in FY23 and FY24, respectively. However, there is still hope in specialised areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, which continue to experience niche demand.

During 2022-23, there was a 9% decrease in fresher hiring compared to the previous year. It is anticipated that this trend will persist into FY24, with a further 5% decline expected.

On Best Engineering Colleges in Mumbai (All): Ranking 2024, Fees, Courses, Admission, Placements

Q:   How can I get admission into top engineering colleges in Mumbai?

A:

Candidates interested in pursuing a BTech course must meet the prerequisites established by the colleges. Candidates that meet the eligibility requirements may apply for the course. Check out the following common eligibility criteria for admission to BTech programs in Mumbai colleges:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 60% aggregate in Class 12 from a recognised board, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core courses (the pass percentage may vary amongst universities).
  • Admission is determined by merit, written exam, Group Discussion (GD), or Personal Interview (PI), and varies by college.

Q:   How many times can one appear for JEE Mains?

A:

Candidates can appear for a total 6 times in JEE Mains. The number of attempts is calculated from the year of passing class 12. For example, if a candidate have passed class 12 in 2023, he/she can appear in both attempts of 2023 as well of both attempts of JEE Main 2024 and 2025.

If a candidate opts not to appear in the exam in a year/session, that attempt will forfeit. For example if a candidate who passed class 12 in 2023 but did not appear in JEE Mains in 2023, he/she will have four attempts remaining in 2024 and 2025.

As candidates have a plenty of attempts (six), it is advised to prepare well for the exam and then appear in the exam. Appearing in the exam without proper preparation could effect the performance.

Q:   How many months are required to prepare for MHT CET exam?

A:

The time-period required to complete the MHT CET preparation varies. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 3-month time is good enough for completing the MHT CET preparation. Students who have started preparing from class 11 or 12 can easily prepare for MHT CET in 6 months considering the topics of CET syllabus have already been studied in class 11 and 12.

MHT CET preparation is most effective with class 11 and 12 as almost 90-95 percent topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire MHT CET syllabus as well as syllabus of class 11 and 12. After the board exams, students get 2-3 month time where they can focus entirely on MHT CET.

Students who have started late for the MHT CET exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in class 11 and 12. In the next two months’ focus on solving questions of MHT CET and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last one month should be focused on solving mock tests and MHT CET previous year question papers
