Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Patna

•          IIT Patna, the premier institute of technology, was set up in 2008, by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. This autonomous university enjoys the approval of UGC. It has also collaborated with Louisiana University and New South Wales University, Australia. No doubt it is the best engineering college in Patna.

 

Entrance Examination: Like any other IIT, this college also admits students into undergraduate courses on the basis of JEE Advanced, held in May. For admission to postgraduate courses, it considers the candidate’s performance in GATE.

 

Courses: IIT Patna conducts four years’ undergraduate (B.Tech) programme in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Science and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering. It also offers postgraduate and PhD programmes in various disciplines of engineering and technology.

 

Fee Structure: The fee for the first year of B.Tech courses is Rs. 212,169 and that of postgraduate programmes is Rs. 22,669.

 

Placements: Students of IITs always grab the best jobs in the industry. Students here receive an average package of INR 11 LPA while the highest pay package reaches INR 39.5 LPA.

National Institute of Technology, Patna (NITP)

•          NIT Patna, one of the top B.Tech colleges in Patna, was established in the year 2004 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It bears the approval of UGC and AICTE. It conducts undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes in various disciplines of engineering and technology.

 

Entrance Examination: To secure a berth in B.Tech courses, the candidate would have to appear for JEE Mains, and for B.Arch, they need to sit for NATA. Again, for admission into M.Tech course, they would have to clear GATE.

Courses: NIT Patna conducts four year’s full-time undergraduate programmes in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Information Technology and Architecture. It also offers two-year M.Tech programmes in various disciplines.

 

Fee Structure: Fee for the first years of B.Tech and B.Arch programmes is Rs. 165,700 while that of M.Tech programmes is Rs. 109,200.

 Maulana Azad College of Engineering and Technology (MACET), Patna

•          This is another top B.Tech college in Patna, established in 1987. It has the affiliation of Magadha University, Gaya and the courses it offers are approved by AICTE. Equipped with excellent infrastructure, it offers undergraduate programmes in various disciplines of engineering and technology. It also conducts B.Tech lateral programmes of three years.

 

Entrance Examination: Admission to this college in B.Tech and B.Tech lateral programmes is done on the basis of the score of BPTPIA-CEA, held in June.

 

Courses: The college offers four year’s B.Tech programmes in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering. Each discipline has 60 seats.

 

Placements: Placement cell of the college arranges job interviews for the outgoing students. Prior to that, they also arrange mock interviews to prepare the students to be successful in the final interview.

Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Patna

•          This private college was established in 2006, with the approval of AICTE. It is, however, one of the best engineering colleges in Patna, offering undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering and technology.

 

Entrance Examination: Students are admitted into the undergraduate courses on the basis of their result in JEE Mains. To get admission in a postgraduate course, a candidate needs to clear GATE.
