Q:   How effective is the placement cell for B.E. / B.Tech courses at Asansol Engineering College?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

    Effectiveness of Placement Cell

The placement cell at Asansol Engineering College (AEC) is considered average by many students and alumni. While some students reported having a positive experience with the placement cell, others felt that it didn't live up to expectations.

    * Limited placement opportunities: Many students mentioned that the college doesn't provide a large number of placement opportunities, making it difficult for students to secure jobs.

    * Good placements for good students: However, some students reported that good students tend to get better placement opportunities, indicating that academic performance plays a role in securing jobs.

    * Campus placements available: The college does organize campus placements, giving students a chance to interview with potential employers.

    * Training and preparation necessary: Students emphasized the importance of developing skills and preparing themselves for interviews in order to increase their chances of getting placed.

    * Average salary packages: According to some reports, the average salary package offered to students is around INR4 Lacs per annum.

Overall, while the placement cell at AEC seems to have some positives, it may not be the strongest aspect of the college. Students and parents should weigh these factors carefully when considering admission to the institution.

    Review of Asansol Engineering College.
Placements: Around 80% of students are placed every year. The highest salary package offered on-campus ranges from 12 LPA-13 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges from 5 LPA- 6 LPA and the lowest salary package offered ranges from 3 LPA - 4 LPA. Top recruiters are TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, Capgemini, etc. Talking about Internships our college didn't give on-campus internships but we can apply for off-campus. Many students got internships in Tech Giants.
Infrastructure: There are all kinds of basic facilities available at our college. Our college has a Wi-Fi facility and library with all types of books available there. Lots of labs like an IT project lab, software engineering lab, an IT workshop, etc. The quality of food provided in the hostel and canteen is average.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, polite, and supportive. Most of them are PhD holders, so they are very well educated, no doubt. Course curriculum is relevant as it has subjects like C+, Java, Python, AI/ML, and Core subjects like COA, DSA, and OS in its syllabus. Semester exams are quite difficult here students have to start studying at least 1 month before the exam to get a good CGPA.

Good but not better, average placement.
Placements: Above 50% of students are placed in our department. The lowest package of CSE is 3.5 LPA (TCS), and the highest package is 22 LPA, but only one student got the highest package. The average package is 5-7 LPA. The mass recruitment companies are TCS and Cognizant, and the minimum package of TCS is 3.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is wonderful and enjoyable. There is connected Wi-Fi in our hostel, and the college has its own tower for the network. The classrooms look wonderful and clean, and our college has a library where students can take books. A maximum of 5 books can be taken from the library at a time.
Faculty: The teacher quality is good but not too good. Students need to study from the Internet and outside the college, e.g., tuition, and coaching centers. Teachers are not helpful to students. I prefer YouTube as a good platform for learning, and there are teachers with higher standards.

    Not very satisfied. Poor infrastructure.
Placements: The highest salary package offered was 24 LPA and the average salary package offered was 4 LPA-6 LPA. Top recruiting companies: Amazon, Microsoft, Google, TCS, IBM, etc. A very small percentage of students got internships (not that much needed). In terms of internships, most students take opportunities from lower-tier companies just for the experience.
Infrastructure: Overall, infrastructure is not that good. Classrooms and libraries are okay. Hostel facilities are also okay. Canteen food is bad. Various sports and games are available. Medical facilities are okay. There is no ragging for hostel boys, especially for 1st years (CCTV cameras are everywhere).
Faculty: Few teachers might help students, but most of them are not that good. Teaching is not effective. It’s better to study on their own. Course curriculum is okay (not all subjects are needed in the future). Semester exams are very difficult. Guarding is strict. Teachers are quite strict.

    Really Good and Supportive Teachers.
Placements: Our course is the first course, and we are the top seniors of it. We are currently in the 3rd year and yet to be placed. On further, we will compete with the Computer Science and Engineering department, where currently 75% of students were placed with an average package of 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: We have been provided with a decent campus and hostel facilities. On campus, we have decent labs with a good amount of computers and other equipment for various subjects, with AC included. In the hostel, we have been provided with Wi-Fi facility 24x7, and proper rooms are provided (2 students per room). Fooding is just average or a bit below.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers here are helpful and skilled and have decent experience in teaching, except for some. The course curriculum is relevant but a bit outdated. However, after the college became autonomous, the courses have improved a lot, making each student industry-ready.
Other: Our course is the first course, and we are the top seniors of it. We are currently in the 3rd year and yet to be placed. On further, we will compete with the Computer Science and Engineering department, where currently 75% of students were placed with an average package of 5 LPA.

    Good facilities and infrastructure.
Placements: 85% of students are placed in our course. The highest package is 23 LPA, the lowest package is 4 LPA, and the average package is 10 LPA. TCS, Wipro, and EY are the top recruiting companies. 35-45% got internships in our course. And the companies are TCS, Wipro, EY, etc. The semiconductor industry plays the top role in our course.
Infrastructure: In our college, there are many good facilities like:- a good library structure, there are many types of books. Indian writers, foreign writers, and other types of books are also there. And also the infrastructure of our college is very good. In our college campus, the hostels are very good for their good facilities like emergency cars, mess food is also good, and also we have a playground to play many types of games.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are very helpful to us and their behavior is also good to us. The semester exam in our college is difficult because this year our college is affiliated to be autonomous. So in this academic year, it is tough to say how difficult the semester exam will be.
Other: The best part of my course is best faculty members and good infrastructure.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of poor students quality that came to our college.
Placements: Nearly 80% of students are placed in our college. TCS is the only company recruiting most of the students from our campus. Other companies like Cognizant, Accenture, Josh Technologies, Keysight Technologies, Nutanix, Deloitte, Delta X, Saxsen Technologies and many more also visit the campus for placement.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on our campus. The quality of food is very poor in our campus canteen as well as in the hostel. The classrooms are good. Lab infrastructure is very poor. The books in the library are not adequate.
Faculty: The faculty is helpful but the quality of students who come to our college is very poor. The course curriculum is relevant for engineering students in every discipline. But the student-faculty ratio in our college is very low. Overall, everything is satisfactory.
