B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2009

Other: The faculty here are extremely helpful. They are always ready to help you out in every situation. Infrastructure is very good, some teachers are good and some are normal. The hostel facility is fine but poor placements. The campus is good. It has a good and secured hostel facility. Library is just awesome and big. All labs are quite well equipped.

Other: It was a good college in 2009, the year I joined. Then all of a sudden everything changed. The dirty politics in the management reflected in college also. But, apart from this, our college has a great lab facility and even students from other college come there to do their practical. The college campus is pathetic and also the college canteen. If your primary aim is to be a graduate, you can choose AWH. On the other hand, if you want to be a graduate, want to enjoy your college or want a good campus placement then don’t choose AWH because the campus placement is just a myth in AWH.

Other: AWH Engineering College (AEC) was established in 2001 and it’s a self-financed engineering college managed by Association for Welfare of Handicapped (AWH), Kozhikode, and Kerala. It is affiliated to the University of Calicut and is approved by AICTE. AEC offers at present B-Tech in 6 branches, MCA program and also M-Tech Courses in Industrial Engineering, Structural Engineering and VLSI. They are also planning to start a full-fledged MBA program. Academics is good with regular classes from Monday – Friday, which ensures the day to day improvement of students. Well-equipped lab with updated systems and a large library is another facility that is available for students. Experienced professors from different universities and fresh faculties together makes a blend in making the curriculum more effective and interesting for students from different city. AEC is having both boys and girls hostel facility which is identified as one of the best hostels available for professional students in Kerala because it is very hygienic in terms of cleanness and the food which we get with the staff behaviour and obviously a 24hr power back. The life in college and hostel is too good for every professional student that they can experience the best facilities with different kind of background which also helps student in gaining different industrial/ sector knowledge. Placements were less in the previous year due to some management issues. But now everything is controlled and good results are coming from the collage. However, placements is still not up to the mark i.e. not 100% for sure. The life in the college will be too good with curricular and co-curricular activities like various sports cricket, football etc. and few other events like cultural fest, which will give you a lot of experience that will help you in rest of the life also. Studying in AEC was one of the best thing happened to me that I got a lot of friends and a lot of experience, both for life also the quality education which is helping me as a student even today.

Other: AWH is the best college on the basis of teaching and lab facilities when compared to other engineering colleges in Calicut. The only problem is there is no place for relaxing like garden and all. During exams if we want to make last time preparation we can access the college library only. That is, there is no suitable place for simply sitting and do preparation. But the library is a nice place but there also sitting capacity is minimum.
Unlike other colleges AWH don't ask huge amount of money for anything. Even the college bus also worth.
Also teachers are very helpful and very friendly. They provides suitable study materials and reduce the complexity of lessons.
The college canteen is too small and not at all active. If we want good food we must access hotels outside the college.
One important thing is that there is not much campus placement takes place. They conducted many programs regarding job placement and all (aptitude test, classes, seminars) but all of them are waste. These all are only for show.
In my batch only few candidates (3 or 4 out of 60) got job now, remember approx.30 to 40 are full pass with no arrears in the history. But no job still now.

I am not satisfied with its infrastructure and our college life is not good.
Placements: We did not pass out the batch currently. The average salary offered ranges between Rs.10,000 and Rs.20,000 per month. Few students got internships in this course. The top roles offered are class representative and some other activities.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are boring. The building work is not completed yet. There is a good library. Computer laboratory is old, and the chairs are broken. Computers are also not updated so there are 2 gigabytes of RAM which is not useful at all.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. The teaching quality of some teachers is good and a few teachers conduct classes for selective students only. The course curriculum is not relevant but you will not get any job by studying this course.
