Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for BSc students at Daulat Ram College?

    A:
    {Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

    Placement Cell:

    * The placement cell is very active and tries to offer as many placements as possible, especially for Commerce students. (Student)
    * Students from the Commerce department are usually placed, while Biology/Science students don't typically receive placements. (Alumni)
    * The placement cell focuses on providing internship opportunities to students, which can lead to job prospects. (Student)
    * The placement cell collaborates with big companies, but the chances of landing a job are relatively low for Science students. (Student)

One of the most expensive of all DU colleges, but can't really complain much.
Placements: You can't expect an IIT level placement at any DU colleges. But being a North campus college, it does provide pretty good placement opportunities. They have fine recruiters and add new ones each year. If you have skills and a good resume, you'll get placed.
Infrastructure: Not very good, I'll say. But since it's a government college, one should not have a lot of expectations. But yet there are things that are necessary to be maintained like the paint, Wi-Fi, and class location. I feel there aren't enough specified rooms for each course. Also, the auditorium needs a makeover ASAP.
Faculty: The curriculum is nice, as it is followed throughout DU. The faculty is much better, they are all very well-educated and don't compromise with your studies unless necessary. Even if class gets canceled, they try to take extra ones. Exams are easy if you study and are timely conducted.

Very good college to develop personality.
Placements: Placements at this college are quite good, with many large companies, including HDFC, participating in recruitment. Last year, 60% to 70% of students were placed. Students with a science background also have opportunities for placement in the research field, depending on their course of study.
Infrastructure: The classrooms, labs, and departments are all very well-equipped. Each room has functional AC, Wi-Fi, and projectors, which makes it easier to learn and present concepts. The hostel is also very nice, with all the essential facilities, and the food is great.
Faculty: The faculty in our course are very generous and supportive to students in every way. They are experienced, and their teaching qualities are very good. The curriculum of our course is very advanced. The exams were a bit difficult, but the passing percentage is 90% to 95%.
Other: I chose botany because I have a strong interest in nature, and botany is the subject that is most relevant to it. I am very satisfied with my course and the faculty. As a research student, I need the lab to be more advanced and have a good space for doing research. The college hosts many events, including an annual fest and departmental fests. The various societies also hold their own cultural fests each year, which are a lot of fun. In addition, there are many inter-college competitions, challenges, and activities that make college life much more interesting and enjoyable.

All You Need To Know About DRC!
Placements: For a life sciences student, it is necessary to complete your studies, at least up to the master's. This not only fosters your educational background but also facilitates placement following post-graduation. The student can apply for a post as a teacher in schools after qualifying exams for the same. Many companies expand their internships to many colleges at DU, and if the student stays active and keeps a regular check of all messages posted on different WhatsApp groups, he/she can easily become an intern. Sometimes, the student will have to settle for an unpaid internship to receive a LOR (letter of recommendation). This letter facilitates your preference for future internships. Paying fees for internships is better if you aim to gain more experience in less time and include your skills and experience in your CV.
Infrastructure: The labs are well-structured, clean, and tidy. Being fully furnished with AC in each room, projectors, and all types of equipment, studying is interesting. The Zoology and Botany Labs have ample reserved species that make each lecture interesting. Looking at creatures you're taught about makes studying and researching about the organisms much better, and luckily, these facilities are kept in mind at Daulat Ram College. I didn't opt for living a hostel life because I reside in Delhi itself. But as per my discussion with my classmates, the hostels have decent infrastructure and good Wi-Fi facilities. Also, the meals and snacks served are top-notch. The canteen is average. The Amul and Nestle outlets are comparatively better. One can find the prices at the cafeteria pretty affordable. The drawback comes from the absence of specific courts for some sports. There's no basketball or volleyball court. Plus, the gym does not have well-working equipment. The area allotted for the sports ground is good.
Faculty: The teachers of the Life Sciences Department at Daulat Ram College are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Only a few teachers are helpful and cooperative. The students must be highly cooperative with each other. I'd suggest the students create an inter-college group comprising life sciences students from as many colleges at DU as possible. This significantly helped me through my second semester, as the teachers didn't share all my notes with the class. To excel in your semester exams, the student must have a thorough knowledge of their syllabus. A very useful tip is to go through the previous year's papers, as many questions are repeated every year. The paper level is average in DU. If the students keep the above point in mind and follow the same religiously, He/she can score well easily. The worst thing about exams is the time when they are conducted. The odd-semester exams are conducted in December and January, when the winter is at its peak, and even-semester during May and June, again peak summer. In addition to this, conducting exams in Sadbhavana Bhawan in the auditorium, where there are no fans and the student has to complete the paper while sitting far away from a pedestal fan, becomes very suffocating. Complete all of your assignments, reports, files, and projects and give all your tests on time. Perform well and score decent marks. This will help you attain a good CGPA. I have no information about the pass percentage, but scoring below 5 CGPA is not good.
Other: Though this course makes my schedule cumbersome, it has its benefits too. With Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry as its major domains, the course provides a plethora of choices to pursue a master's from. Every year, annual fests take place in all colleges at DU, and it is an enjoyable moment for all students.

    Dissatisfied with infrastructure!
Placements: Around 30-40% of students got placement; the minimum package was 70 thousand and the maximum package was around 2 lakhs. It was a decent experience; they need to work more on placement...most people don't even get to know about placements...there should be proper measures to make students aware of placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was decent, but the hostel was closed, the college was under construction, the washrooms were unhygienic, the water cooler was only on the ground floor, and the lift wasn’t working either.
Faculty: Faculty was nice. There were some good teachers, but a few were not that good. Some teachers used to just read from slides, but most of the teachers were really good. There should be more smart classes in the college. Exams were decent. The curriculum was also good.

Daulat Ram College: One of the best women's college.
Placements: Only a few students got placement in college. BA and BCOM students have more placements than BSC students. There are many internships provided to students in our college. Some are not paid but some are paid. Only 2-3% of students got placement in the BSC course.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very amazing. There are ACs in the whole physics department. Wi-Fi is also there in the college. There is a canteen also in the college. Medical facilities are provided to students in college. There is also a library in college.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable. They take classes on a regular basis. Labs are also there in the college. Lab staff helps us a lot in doing experiments more than teachers themselves. Semester exams are moderate.
Other: There are many events held in college every day. Mostly all festivals are celebrated in college. Our college's main fest is held once a year, which is very good. Physics hons. is a very good course as they teach coding too.

Infrastructure is not good but overall studies are good.
Placements: Placements are less because most students go on to do Masters. The highest salary package is 8-9 lakhs per annum, the lowest is 2 lakhs per annum, and the average is 5 lakhs per annum. Top recruiting companies are Leading Client, Gyantu, and many private companies. Students get internships in various fields, including research, healthcare, and corporate internships. Students also take part in projects initiated by the college, such as the current project on drosophila. Top roles for graduates are zoologist, scientist, professor, marine biologist, research scientist, conservation officer, and clinical analyst.
Infrastructure: The labs are well maintained by the lab staff, and the classrooms and labs are spacious and fully air conditioned. The library is also big and well maintained, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The only problem is that Wi-Fi is not provided in the classrooms and labs. The hostel facilities are good, and our hostel is the best among all DU hostels because it is well maintained and in good condition, with all facilities provided, such as good quality four-time meals, gym facilities, air-conditioned rooms, a computer lab, laundry, security, a sports complex, a garden area, and a medical room.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and hardworking and always ready to help in studies. Curriculum is relevant because all practicals are done in class. Semester exams are not too difficult because paper is syllabus-based and pyqs repeats so everyone is able to pass exams with a good CGPA.
Other: I chose this course because I love Zoology. In this we study many interesting subjects like Human Physiology biochemistry, diversity in chordates, etc. And the only thing I don't like about my course is that there is lot of file work to be done. Other than that, everything is okay. We also have our society named koshika and have our department festival and events like speaker sessions, workshops, etc.
