Q:   Is Faculty of Technology University of Delhi Tier 1 or Tier 2?

A:

Typically, the Faculty of Technology of the University of Delhi is rated as Tier 2 within India's context of engineering colleges. While it is indeed a well-reputed school in terms of academic excellence, faculties at large, and placement opportunities, this faculty still tends to be behind the strong elite Tier 1 institutes such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National Institute of Technology (NITs). It is one of the competitive choices for students seeking top-notch education in a prime professional university atmosphere. Still, in its ascending curves, it is a sure bet for young minds aspiring to be future engineers.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2027
2.4
2Placements2Infrastructure3Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life2Value for Money
The course restarted in 2023 only, so not much can be said, but everything looks good and satisfying
Placements: B. Tech under the Faculty of Technology is not a new course at Delhi University. Earlier, it was started and grown into Delhi Technical University. But in 2023, it was started again and I am in the first batch, so can't say anything with surety, but since it is under Delhi University and the course is started for the second time, the placements should be average.
Infrastructure: There is no separate building for FOT B. Teach. Classes are conducted in the main North campus of Delhi University. The building which is assigned has a limited number of rooms, but it is sufficient for two consecutive years of students. The labs are good, but there is no sports facility or games available. Wi-Fi is available No hostels available for B. Teach students Food quality in the University canteen is extremely good Medical facilities are also available.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified but not very experienced. Most of them are NIT graduates. There are some senior teachers who are working hard to do their best for students. The course is the same as any other video college, but has some differences and provides much of the practical knowledge. Like, in the 3rd semester, we are taught backend development, and in the 4th, we will be taught app development. The level of exams is very good, and practical knowledge is important to score good marks. The passing percentage is 50%.
Other: There are no events and fests conducted on campus for Faculty of Technology students. No extracurricular activities, but under my subjects, periods are allotted, like sports for life or Quit India once a week. No scholarships are given to students, but there is a criterion in which fee concession is given to students based on their family income, which you can go through on the Faculty of Technology website.

I am a bit satisfied with this college but not with campus life.
Placements: The B.Tech course was started in 2023. Placements are yet to happen. As the college has direct access to the main placement cell of the North campus of University of Delhi, placements are good. Internships are provided most probably in the third year by FAANG companies.
Infrastructure: Students have to face issues because there is no hostel. Students cannot expect great campus life. The hostel is provided to very less students.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-qualified and helpful. The curriculum is a bit up to the mark. Overall, the course is good and up to the mark. A very few teachers are not well-qualified. The course structure is good and follows modern standards.

Bad college life in the faculty of technology
Placements: Our batch is the first batch of the FOT so no placements have been made previously and we expect a good placement in upcoming years as Delhi University is a big name in the world and all over India. The average package expected by students is a minimum of 12 lakhs which is good for a new college and first batch. Internship will depend on the skills of the student in the college.
Infrastructure: No hostel is allotted to students by Delhi University, which is a very big problem for the students. Now students are living in different pg and flats, and private hostels . The canteen is not as good as such, but it is okay, and none of the sports facilities are provided by the college. Some of the medical facilities can be accessed by the Delhi University-provided hospital.
Faculty: Teachers present are very highly qualified, full of knowledge, and they have a very helpful nature indeed . The course curriculum is very relevant to the syllabus, but it doesn’t make the students industry-ready because no industry visit has been arranged. Semester exams are tough but okay for the average students AND PASS PERCENTAGE IS almost 85%.
Other: I chose this course as I was having flair in B.Tech and specially in computer science. I would say to improve the college life in the college. The college should have different fests and events and have different extracurricular activities.

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2028

3Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty2Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
If you want a college life with fests and clubs, don't come here. If you want to study, then do come
Placements: Currently, I can't say anything about the placements as our first batch of the college will pass out in 2027. The reason I still gave it a three-star rating is because it comes under a central university, specifically DU North Campus. The placements can be super good, mediocre, or very poor. Time will decide.
Infrastructure: Currently, our classes are being conducted at Maharishi Kannad Bhavan, inside the main University. It's a big 5-storey building (out of which only 2 floors are used for FOT though). So, not a very good infrastructure, but decent enough. The classes are fully air-conditioned, we have lifts, pretty big lecture halls, and well-equipped labs. The permanent building for FOT is under construction.
Faculty: The faculty is well-qualified and very helpful, but the backing management is very poor (typical of a government college). The curriculum also matches with the modern-day requirements, no issues in that. The exams are really tough here, you definitely need to study to survive here. In our first-year mid-sem exams, the class average score for a particular subject was 7 out of 24. So just imagine the toughness.
Other: I chose this course because I always wanted to explore the field of hardware, and I chose this college because of the DU tag. But, to be frank, DU really disappoints me here. There are no events going on in the college, literally nothing! The crowd is so boring and uninteresting. Many times, faculty members kept getting changed at the start of the batch. There are even no clubs or societies in the college, leading to a lack of junior-senior interaction.

Really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: First of all, I would like to tell that our batch is the first batch which will pass out in 2027, so the exact answers can be found only then. But yes, Faculty of Technology established their placement cell and additionally, Delhi University has its own Central Placement Cell in which we are also eligible.
Infrastructure: Our classes are held in Kanad Bhawan University of Delhi. Facilities: Fully AC classes with high-speed Wi-Fi, digital boards, and a water cooler on every floor. Stairs and lifts are both available. We have all types of labs like Advance Electronics Lab, Network and Synthesis Lab, and Digital Electronics Lab with all the necessary equipment. Unfortunately, a hostel isn't available; you have to take PG which costs around 10-15k.
Faculty: I can say most of our professors are well qualified. You have to score 40% to pass in exams; questions in semester exams are a bit harder, so focus on what your professor is teaching in class. If possible, try to make notes; it will be very helpful for semester exams.

College life can be challenging.
Placements: I am unsure about the placement opportunities since I am part of the first batch that started in 2023. However, this college is affiliated with Delhi University, which has a strong reputation, and that's one of the reasons I chose it. Additional, Delhi University has solid connections that can benefit students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good; the labs, classrooms, and library create a decent environment, and the Wi-Fi speed is satisfactory. However, there is a shortage of staff, and those available often delay their work, which negative impact the students. Additional, there is a lack of sports facilities.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and very supportive, which greatly benefits the students. The semester exam was more difficult than I had anticipated. Additional, there are many more courses available that assist students in their extracurricular activities, such as those in finance and English.
Other: I believe there have been significant changes in the electronic and communication course, representing a huge opportunity for students. I want to update the old syllabus to be more practical.
