B.Tech. in Information Technology - Batch of 2020
Offered by Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering for Women
3.6

The college has highly qualified faculty.
Placements: Almost 30% of students got placed in our course. The highest package offered is 13 LPA, and the lowest package is 3.4 LPA. The average package is 6.4 LPA. The top recruiting companies for our course are TCS and Infosys. About 50% of students got internships from our course. The top roles offered in our course are software developer, system engineer etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for our course and hostel is not so good. It is not like other engineering colleges. The labs and classrooms are average. The quality of facilities in our hostel is average. The food quality in the mess and canteen, medical facilities, sports and games are average.
Faculty: The faculty, curriculum and exams for our course are very good. The teachers are helpful, qualified and very knowledgeable. The teaching quality is very good. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are a little difficult to score high, and hard work is important.

Our college only focuses on completing the course curriculum and does not focus on college life.
Placements: Mainly, companies which visit our college for placements are service-based companies like TCS, Wipro, etc., and they offer a salary package of around 3 LPA-4 LPA. Our college provides a good training programme so that maximum students can get placed in such companies. Regarding the internships, our college will not help you to get them. So, you have to get an internship on your own if you want to build your profile. There are many options for students such as off-campus placement opportunities to opt for if they are not satisfied with salary packages offered by these service-based companies. Our college will neither encourage nor discourage you from opting for them.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided to students are not up to the mark. Classrooms are the worst, especially during hot summers, students cannot just sit and concentrate on study. Labs are average, and you cannot expect much. Most of the machines in the lab don't work, and there are still old model machines through which students cannot perform experiments well. Hostel rooms are not very huge, and the beds and wardrobes provided are old and of low quality. However, washrooms and rooms are cleaned daily. The food is a huge problem in any hostel. Breakfast and snacks provided in the evening are good sometimes, but lunch and dinner are bad most of the time. If they make something good, they will provide it in a limited quantity. Overall, the food is average. The canteen is just a room and not much huge, and there are no varieties of food items. They serve the same food all the time.
Faculty: In most of the colleges, the course curriculum is not efficient, and in this college also, it is not efficient. Our college follows the course curriculum provided by JNTU Kakinada. It contains just bookish knowledge and very less practical knowledge, and our college doesn't provide any exposure. Even if students are interested in exploring, the college will not encourage, and rather it scolds for not attending classes. Less than 10% of faculty members are PhD holders. Faculty members only teach what is available in the prescribed book, and almost none of them has any exposure in programming, which is the most important to get placed in product-based companies. Students are not encouraged to upgrade their skills because faculty members are only not aware of the current IT industry. Internal, semesters and all lab exams are taken seriously, unlike other colleges, where students are just provided with marks without evaluation. All the labs and classes are conducted as per schedule.
Other: Our college needs to improve its infrastructure a lot and also course curriculum and other facilities. Our college just concerns about your marks and nothing else. However, our college is better than other colleges available in its surroundings in terms of education. If students just want to complete their B.Tech and do not want to enjoy college life, then take admission in this college.

Absolutely worthless college because of the faults in everything.
Placements: The placement qualifying percentage cut-off was minimum 70% for us, and it was 60% for our seniors. From my branch, almost 7% of the students were placed. I think the overall placement percentage might be 20-30%. I don't have any idea about the highest and the lowest salaries because I never asked any senior about it. TCS is the only company that visits, and Infosys comes on rare occasions. Rest all companies don't even know about the college much. I have no idea about campus placements because I am not interested. The college doesn't provide any internships; we have to find them on our own, and it's not mandatory for us to do internships. There is a placement cell in the college, which focuses on the academic percentages of students rather than the knowledge and skills they are gaining.
Infrastructure: Jio Wi-Fi facility is provided in the college, but only the college staff use it, and students hardly use it. Labs are the only good facilities provided in the college, and the classrooms can be improved. There is a PT room, but just basic first aid is provided. We have a sports period only for namesake, and to be honest, we don't even have a playground in the college. The canteen is the worst part of all; it is put up in some shed, and the food provided is of the worst quality I have ever seen. Sometimes they also serve the previous day's meals to students. I am a day scholar, and we are not allowed to hostels, so I don't have any idea about the hostel rooms, but my classmates who are hostelers tell me that the mess food is very bad and they don't eat it. I don't think the term infrastructure is suitable for my college. We just have a building with small garden. The college infrastructure doesn't really match with the fees they charge.
Faculty: The teachers might be well-qualified and have good knowledge, but what they lack is the teaching skills. They cannot communicate in English properly, and they hardly teach in English. They use PPTs to teach because it would be easy for them to read, rather than to explain the concept. Also, they award us marks based on their impression on us; they don't really do a fair job in giving marks. I don't think the curriculum is useful at all.
Other: We have a technical fest, and sometimes the college provides us workshops. When it comes to the crowd, I think I have seen the most narrow-minded and judgemental people over here. There are no scholarships provided, and there are no extracurricular activities also.

Im totally satisfied with my college and faculty and good placements are also taken in our college.
Placements: Placements were good in our college. 80% of student have been placed from our college. Salary offered is not known. Companies like wipro, TCS, IBM, Tech mahindra etc. Visit our campus. There is a placement cell in our college and it is very useful during placements. Extra coaching is also given in our college to better approach during college.
Infrastructure: Our college offers free 1GB of jionet network daily and the connection is also too fast. Labs were neatly maintained and classrooms were also spacious and provides good ventilation. Library is very useful for us and number of books are available regarding our subjects. We have sports period every week and our college students visit tournaments to other college also. Coming to canteen, the canteen in our campus is not very spacious but the food quality is really good in our college and provides good meal for only 25rs and it is unlimited but some other items cost is very high and this is the only disadvantage we students face through canteen. Hostel room were neatly maintained and the hostel is located inside our college itself and many of our classmates are hostlers. Everything is good in our college hostel.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful when we students have any doubts regarding subject and they help us and also make us understand the concept in an easy manner. Yes they are qualified knowledgeable too. The teaching quality was also good and they use projectors to make the teaching better and also make us to understand better. We students understand clearly when the teaching is done through projector. The course curriculum was useful to us.
Other: Our college conducts events and fests every year. The campus crowd is standard in our college. The surroundings in our college are neatly maintained and our college is surrounded with greenary. Our college also offers scholarships and extracurricular activities like chess, carrom, shuttle are also taken place in our college.

Great quality of education and limited campus placements.
Placements: There are very limited individual placements. There were no internships provided. Placements happened including two or more colleges. Less than 10 percent of the students got placed in campus placements. There was no follow up too after relieving from college. We get very less information on job fairs, etc.
Infrastructure: The classrooms were quite good. The entire campus is small compared to other colleges. Food quality is pretty good. The hostel is well maintained. Adequate labs, workshops, library, etc., are available. There is a lot of place for extracurricular activities like sports, etc., and a gym is also provided.
Faculty: The teachers are very much knowledgeable about their subjects. Great teaching skills. They are very patient and easy teacher-student access. Good quality of education. The course curriculum was very much useful for students who preferred to settle in the same stream.
