Review of Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu.
Placements: In this college, very few students get placements. The average salary pacakge offered is 10 LPA. Samsung and small companies visit to hire students.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very slow and low, infrastructure is average now that good department. Laboratories and classrooms are also average. The quantity of the facility in our hostel, and the quantity of food served are available in the mess and canteen. The medical facility, sports, and games, are also provided.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good, and the course does not make students ready for industry. Exams are hard and pass percentage is not easily achievable, and students study a lot but still, it is not sufficient enough.
Other: There are not many options available for students after JEE mains so, students have to join either university or this college or private college. Improvement is needed in this college. Events, fests, campus crowd, connectivity are held.

I am dissatisfied because of lack of good faculty members and placements.
Placements: There are very less placements in our college. Some below standard companies visit here every year to hire a few students. From the last year, there has been an improvement in placements as some good companies are visiting for placement drives. But not more than 2% to 3% of the students are offered jobs during these drives.
Infrastructure: For the course facilities, there was not any improvement in this college from the last 10 to 15 years. Wi-Fi facility is available in our college, but it is mainly restricted to faculty members for their use. Students get less benefits from that. Labs, classrooms and library are below average with substandard facilities. The hostel is also in very bad condition.
Faculty: There are no permanent faculty members in this college. Many teachers are on a contract basis, and they are not up to the mark. Students have to study on their own through different sources. There are some industrial visits, but students have to struggle to benefit from them.

This college will not provide great career opportunities; you have to do it on your own.
Placements: Less than 5% of students are placed, and the highest package is 5.6 LPA, while the lowest package is 2.4 LPA. Top recruitment companies are Pisoft and some small-scale companies. Less than 10% of students got internships from our course at Pisoft, and the top roles offered are designer and website developer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good but needs repair and maintenance. The library is good, but classrooms are old-fashioned and require development. The quality of the mess in the hostel is not very good, and the rooms are in poor condition, needing significant repairs.
Faculty: Most of the faculty are contractual, so after every session, we face issues and a lot of time is wasted because teachers are not available. Many subjects that are irrelevant to our course are included in the syllabus. The semester exams are tough compared to the teaching provided.
Other: The government opportunity is great in this course, and the extra syllabus must be removed if it is irrelevant. Events and fests are totally organized by students. Scholarships are provided by AICTE.

Dissatisfied about infrastructure, normal placement scenario, good faculty and students
Placements: The placement scenario is not so special. Companies do pay a visit but the percentage of students selected is quite low. Recently, Cummins, TCS, etc. visited the campus. The average package was around 5 LPA. Generally, the students are the ones who interact with the companies so as to make them pay a visit to the college. They interact with the company people so that there can be on campus placement. About the internship, the college promotes us to take internship under various sites like Internshalla. But due to the heavy burden of assignments, only a few students take up these courses.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not up to the mark. There is no block for the branches electrical and electronics and communication. The playground is under construction. There are courts for lawn tennis, volleyball, badminton and basketball (proposed). Labs only in the computer department have access to Wi-Fi. The classrooms are fine but the desks are broken there. There is only one hostel for boys which is good but the food served is of very poor quality. The rooms are sharing as well as single rooms. The girls' hostel is under construction. The library is quite good with proper seating arrangement and sufficient amount of books. The canteen is not up to the mark. The food served is not that special as most people rely on packaged items when hungry. The college has ample of large bushes around which is a great problem as these have thorns and many people get hurt due to those. The workshops are good with proper equipment and tools.
Faculty: The faculty team is great here as all the teachers have a minimum of the Masters degree in their field. Moreover, the senior teachers like the HODs are scholars and have papers published under their name in several international journals. The faculty members generally take a deep interest in teaching the student. The faculty team has to answer all the doubts of the students. To sum up, the faculty team is highly qualified from prestigious institutes. Sometimes, visits are organised to places of interest.

GCET Jammu: heaven for civil engineering.
Placements: The training and placement cell of our college works day and night to get students placed in the best companies The highest package offered to the student in our course was 6.5 LPA, and the average package is about 3.5–4 LPA. Topic outing companies for a course special in civil engineering. Almost 10–20% students get internship from higher institutions like IIT Jammu, IIT Mandi, etc. There are other students who got their internships from PWD Jammu. The top roles offered in our course are junior engineer, superintending engineer, construction supervisors, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of a college is not the best, but it is not that bad; it is average. The Wi-Fi services are available throughout the campus. Labs are well-equipped with almost every kind of testing machine. The classrooms are spacious and well ventilated. Talking about the facilities in our hostel, we have a decent room with a ceiling fan, a study table, and a chair. Then the food available in the mess and canteen is very good. But the medical facilities are not so good, and sports and games are also not given priority at the college.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. Most of the faculty is hired on a contractual basis. The permanent faculty is very highly educated; most of the permanent faculty teachers are Ph.D. qualified, and the contractual faculty is also masterful in their subjects, but some of the contractual faculty members are also Ph.D. qualified. The course curriculum is very relevant; the subjects that start in the course are directly related to civil engineering. The curriculum makes the student industrial-ready. The question paper for the semester exam is set by the University of Jammu and is of moderate level. The passing percentage is not to high, but it lies somewhere between 60 and 70%.
Other: The main reason for choosing the course for me was the hype of civil engineering department at the Government College for Engineering and Technology, Jammu. My two cousins are also the passwords of civil engineering department from Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu; both of them are working as junior engineer in railways and PWD departments of Jammu & Kashmir government, respectively. By getting influenced by them, I chose to get into the civil engineering branch. The things I wish we were better in a course were the extra activities, such as sports, etc. Not very much but our college hosts one cultural festival every year The name of the festival is Weaves. The campus crowd is not very large, but it is somewhere between 600 and 700 students at a time the campus crowd is not very large, but it is somewhere between 600 and 700 students at a time. The campus is built on the banks of the Chenab River. Students can avail scholarship scholarships at this college if they belong to reserved category.
