Q:   Can I join Heritage Institute of Technology directly?

A:

Whether you can directly join Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the different ways of joining HIT:

Regular Admissions:

  • No direct admissions: Unfortunately,  HIT doesn't offer direct admissions for any B.Tech program. You need to go through the regular admission process,  which involves:
    • Qualifying in either WBJEE or JEE Main exams.
    • Meeting the minimum cut-off score for your desired program.
    • Participating in the counselling process and securing a seat based on your rank and programme choices.

Other Admission Options:

  • Lateral Entry: If you've completed a Diploma in engineering,  you can apply for lateral entry to the second year of a B.Tech programme at HIT. Admission is based on a separate entrance exam conducted by WBJEE.
  • Management Quota: Some seats in each B.Tech programme are reserved under the Management Quota. While not "direct" in the strict sense,  this might offer an alternative route for admission if you meet the eligibility criteria and pay the required fees.

Important Points:

  • The Management Quota seats are limited and admission isn't guaranteed. Merit and other criteria set by the institute determine selection.
  • Regardless of the quota you apply under,  fulfilling the program's eligibility criteria (e.g.,  minimum percentage in qualifying exams) remains mandatory.

Recommendations:

  • Check the official HIT website or contact the admissions office for the latest information on B.Tech admission procedures and specific eligibility requirements for different options.
  • Focus on preparing for WBJEE or JEE Main if aiming for regular admission through merit.
  • Explore the Management Quota option only if the regular admission process doesn't work out and ensure you meet the set criteria.

  • Candidates need to have completed their H.S. (10+2) examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they should have qualified for the joint entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

2. Entrance Examinations:

  • Prospective students need to qualify for either the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEE) or the JEE (Main) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education. The candidates should be recommended by the WBJEE Board.

3. Seat Allocation:

  • 80% of the seats are reserved for qualified WBJEE candidates.
  • 10% of the seats are allocated to qualified JEE (main) candidates.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

This college is not good for placement.
Placements: Placement in Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK) is concerning. Most companies are mass recruiters, offering 4 LPA-5 LPA. Our placement percentage is around 70%-80%. The percentage seems high because our college doesn't allow students to sit in placements once they are already placed. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, and others. The highest salary package placement is around 16 LPA, and the lowest salary package is around 2-3 LPA.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well-organised. They are not too big but are spacious enough to sit. The college is fully Wi-Fi enabled, but the network is the worst, so no one uses it. There is no hostel facility for boys, so you have to take a hostel outside, which costs around Rs. 7,000 rupees per month. Students also take PG accommodations with other friends. There is a hostel facility for girls, but it is just average. The campus is very small, so there are very few sports grounds like cricket, football, basketball, and table tennis.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and have done PhDs in their field. Their teaching methods are old. Students get bored easily, but if they pay attention, they teach well. The course curriculum is outdated and doesn't prepare students for the industry. Semesters are tough and rigorous. They don't give marks easily.
Other: I don't have any option other than HITK due to my mistake in JOSAA counseling. I got RVCE CSE, but due to financial reasons, I didn't join. The college doesn't have a hostel. One thing that should be done is that the hostel should be on campus. There are no fests, and the campus is very small with too much crowd for the area. There are no scholarships. I wouldn't recommend joining this college.

This college is absolutely value for money.
Placements: More than 80% of students got placement in their final year. The highest salary package ranges from 45 LPA - 60 LPA. The average salary package ranges between 6 LPA - 8 LPA. There are also very good internship opportunities with companies like TCS, Infosys, and many more, based on your abilities.
Infrastructure: College campus is not very large, but the infrastructure is good. Classrooms are well-maintained, and the library is fully air-conditioned. Laboratories are equipped with proper tools and enough resources for practical work. The hostel has a very friendly environment, and rooms are comfortable. The food in the mess is good, but food at the canteen is awesome. Medical facilities are also available. Sports and games are supported, and some students even compete at the national level.
Faculty: All teachers are highly qualified and experienced in their respective fields. Teaching quality is excellent. This course is great for securing a good job. Semester exam is quite difficult, but teachers are very supportive. They provide proper notes and assignments for exam preparation. The pass percentage is more than 40%.

Placements: In my course approx 50 percent student get placed because of their knowledge and skills. Although highest package is approx 9ac per annum and lowest is 3lac per annum and average 5-6 lac per annum. Top recruiter are TCS, L&T etc After placement they works as senior executive, site engineer etc
Infrastructure: The facility and faculties available for my courses is good as they are helpful and they will help not only for passing semester exam but crack the high profile jobs.there is wifi installed in every floor.labs will taken by 2-3 teachers to help everyone. There is no boys hostel in my college but hostel for girls is available in campus.having two canteens differ by size
Faculty: Teachers are helpful , qualified and knowledgeable..and if we see their teaching quality then you can imagine from the PPT the teacher taught is also enough for cracking government exams for this particular course. Semester exam is not dificult..it's level is easy to moderate..you have to score 40 percent to pass the semester

Overall, pretty good college and average placements.
Placements: The placement scenario at college is decent but not extraordinary. The placement cell works hard to bring companies on campus. But the number of opportunities largely depends on the department and your personal efforts. However, the packages are usually in the average range of 4–7 LPA. Attending many workshops, group discussions, and critical thinking exercises encourages the students.
Infrastructure: The faculty of the college is strong; some can improve their teaching. Most professors are experienced and knowledgeable. The quality of the instruction is pretty good. Hostels are not so good, but you can also rent the good nearby PGs. Overall, the infrastructure is pretty good.
Faculty: Semester and mid-semester exams are moderate. The curriculum is well structured and aligned with industry standards. Regular assignments are given. It can also help gauge progress throughout the semester. It is a college that is consistent and fair in its grading system.
Other: No fests are organized here, but definitely a lot of tech events and cultural events are conducted besides the study.

Life at HITK - A new journey to explore.
Placements: According to recent data, there is moderate placement from IT department with an average package of 4-6LPA. The highest package of this year is 12LPA till now for CSE branch and for IT branch is not known yet. Top Recruiters are TCS, Capgemini, Wipro, and many startup companies.
Infrastructure: The classroom of HITK is good and will give a solid 4 out of 5 as the rooms are big and spacious with a capacity of 60-70 students. The Library of HITK is the best attraction for the students due to its ambience and the number of books are around 20k+. Wi-fi connection is available but is poor in ICT building and is strong in CB and CME buildings.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and guide us in the specific subject quite well by providing notes and question paper of previous year. The curriculum for IT department is not quite relevant according to the current scenario. They still teach us some old subjects which are not required. The semester exams are not so tough to get a decent score. Just follow the class and the notes provided by the teachers.
Other: I chose this course according to my WBJEE rank and I always believe that after CSE Core branch is IT. So I got admitted in this branch. I wish the syllabus was new and according to current demand. There is no such fests in the college due to some internal issues. But many Clubs are there to participate and enjoy.

Beautiful buildings, less fests, more friends .
Placements: Placement rate is high (more than 80%) but on ground level most of them get 3.5 LPA (CTC) which is quite low. The highest placement was in the year 2022 - 1.2 crores offcampus. Companies like Infosys, Vipro, TCS, Confident etc. Visit. Average placement for B.Teach CSE is 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: There is no in-campus hostel for boys. There is one hostel which is 3 km away from College but only 30 seats and for 1st years only. After than you have to arrange at other place. But you will find PGs near college ranging between 8k - 10k (with food) For girls there are 3 in-campus hotels and 1 under construction. There are also PGs near College. Food is good, Wi-Fi is available but limited daily limit and requires login daily. Only few Classrooms have AC, Wi-Fi not reachable in classrooms. Library is good fully AC and Wi-Fi.
Faculty: Teachers are good, some are strict do not support extra curricular activities like practicing for teachers day etc. Do not allow to leave the classes. Course curriculum is quite good. There is performance based marking, MAR points, Assignments, Projects etc. Exams are only 20% weightage. Exams are average surprise tests are easy (10 marks only). The pass percentage is above 80 .
Other: Events, Fests are not promoted here. Only cultural performances etc. The surroundings and campus environment is good.
