Q:   Which has better placement at Heritage Institute of Technology, B.Tech in CSE or B.Tech in ECE?

A:

When it comes to placements at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), both B.Tech in CSE and B.Tech in ECE have their own strengths and advantages, making it difficult to definitively say which one has "better" placements. The choice can depend on your individual interests, skills, and career aspirations.

B.Tech in CSE:

  • Higher Average Package: Generally speaking,  the average package for CSE graduates at HIT tends to be higher than that for ECE graduates. Recent reports suggest an average package of around INR 6-7 LPA for CSE,  compared to INR 5-6 LPA for ECE.
  • More Top Recruiters: IT giants like Infosys,  Wipro,  TCS,  and Google tend to actively recruit CSE graduates at HIT,  offering opportunities in software development,  cloud computing,  data analytics,  and other high-demand fields.
  • Wide Variety of Roles: With the booming IT sector,  CSE graduates have access to a diverse range of career paths beyond traditional software development,  including cybersecurity,  AI/ML,  and blockchain technology.

B.Tech in ECE:

  • Core Engineering Focus: If you enjoy the hands-on aspects of electronics and hardware,  ECE offers a more core engineering curriculum compared to CSE's software focus.
  • Growing Demand: With advancements in automation and smart devices,  the demand for skilled ECE graduates is on the rise. This opens doors to exciting opportunities in robotics,  telecommunications,  VLSI design,  and embedded systems.
  • Specialist Roles: Beyond IT companies,  leading engineering firms like Tata Advanced Systems and other electronics manufacturers actively recruit ECE graduates,  offering lucrative careers in specific technology domains.

Additional factors to consider:

  • Your Interest: Ultimately,  choosing between CSE and ECE should be based on your genuine interest and aptitude in either field. You'll be dedicating years to the chosen field,  so passion is crucial.
  • Future Career Goals: Do you envision yourself coding and building software solutions in the IT world,  or are you drawn to the more physical aspects of designing and developing electronic hardware?  Aligning your goals with the strengths of each programme is key.
  • Research Industry Trends: Stay updated on current and future trends in both IT and Electronics sectors. This can help you understand the potential growth and job opportunities in each field.

Conclusion:

Neither CSE nor ECE is inherently "better" in terms of placements at HIT. Both offer promising career prospects with unique advantages. Evaluating your personal interests, desired career path, and industry trends will help you make the most informed decision. Consider attending college open houses and speaking to alumni from both programs to gain deeper insights before choosing your B.Tech path at HIT.

I suggest you never miss the opportunity if you get the chance to join this college.
Placements: In terms of placements, Heritage Institute of Technology is one of the best engineering colleges in West Bengal. Every year almost 80-85% of students get placed among the top companies of India. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Capgemini, and IBM are the top recruiters of this college. If you are a computer science background student or you want to start your career in the IT sector, then this is one of the best places to start your journey. The highest salary package offered may vary, but the average salary package offered ranges from 5-6 LPA. Our college offers you to do internships in many reputed companies to gain knowledge of how the industry works.
Infrastructure: The best thing about Heritage institute is its campus. This college is located in quiet away from the proper Kolkata. The total campus is spread over 70 acres. It has everything from Wi-Fi to advanced lab rooms. The college library is huge with thousands of books. You can take every semester books from the library, and there is no restriction on the number of books. We have a very good canteen which has almost everything you ideally want to, but for me, I think it is a little more costly than outside. We have two huge sports grounds where you can play sports with your friends and spend quality time. It has some clubs like sports club, coding club, dance club, social service club, etc. It has hostels only for women. The male student has to take a hostel outside of the college on their own. But it would not be a problem, and there are many hostels for boys outside the campus. For medical problems, the college had enough to support you.
Faculty: It is an autonomous college, so the college makes decisions on its own. You at least have to get 75% of attendance to qualify for the semester. The question paper is made by our own teachers. If you follow your class daily, then it will not be a problem as they make question what they taught you. Most of the teachers are highly qualified, and they are very good at their work on how to teach a student. They conduct extra classes if the student approaches them. They sometimes teach as above the syllabus to understand the topic and give us many overviews of the industry as to how they execute the performance.
Other: I am a lateral student, and I did my diploma in computer science, so to gather more knowledge, I have chosen to come to Heritage Institute as everyone gives a positive review about the college. The atmosphere and the college campus attract me so much. We also had many programs or events during the whole year. Students are more enthusiastic about those events. The college also hosts a huge fest every year. The only thing if I want to change about this college is to delay the time of start the college. The classes start at 9 am, so many students like me who travel every day are getting hard.

Absolutely satisfied with the infrastructure but placement method is not so good.
Placements: In our batch almost 85 to 90 percent students have been placed in different organizations and in our previous batch it almost 90 percent students were placed. The highest salary that have been offered was 4 Lacs per annum and the lowest was 2.5 Lacs per annum. The companies that was visited, Wipro, Infosis, Accenture, Tech Mahindra etc. The offered position that was Software Developer, Database Administrator etc. 20 percent student got internship and salary offered in that time was 18k per month. Yes Heriatge has it's placement cell and it is very effective.
Infrastructure: Well the campus is definitely good that I have been seen over there. Wi-Fi is available, labs are pretty much well capacitive and well facilitated, library have it's enough books and also have enough reading area, Medical facilities are good, sports and games facilities are available for both indoor and outdoor. Canteen food quality is very good but it is costly. Hostel rooms have enough spaces with all type of facilities. No I have not faced any problem during my time.
Faculty: Well teachers are helpful and good enough in their areas. Teaching quality is very good in my opinion. Conventional and modern both teaching methods are used here. No I didn't get industry exposure. In my opinion curriculum is pretty much right but I think it will be better.
Other: Fest, Events, Connectivity, Scholarship, Extracurricular activities done here.

Q:   Can I join Heritage Institute of Technology directly?

A:

Whether you can directly join Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the different ways of joining HIT:

Regular Admissions:

  • No direct admissions: Unfortunately,  HIT doesn't offer direct admissions for any B.Tech program. You need to go through the regular admission process,  which involves:
    • Qualifying in either WBJEE or JEE Main exams.
    • Meeting the minimum cut-off score for your desired program.
    • Participating in the counselling process and securing a seat based on your rank and programme choices.

Other Admission Options:

  • Lateral Entry: If you've completed a Diploma in engineering,  you can apply for lateral entry to the second year of a B.Tech programme at HIT. Admission is based on a separate entrance exam conducted by WBJEE.
  • Management Quota: Some seats in each B.Tech programme are reserved under the Management Quota. While not "direct" in the strict sense,  this might offer an alternative route for admission if you meet the eligibility criteria and pay the required fees.

Important Points:

  • The Management Quota seats are limited and admission isn't guaranteed. Merit and other criteria set by the institute determine selection.
  • Regardless of the quota you apply under,  fulfilling the program's eligibility criteria (e.g.,  minimum percentage in qualifying exams) remains mandatory.

Recommendations:

  • Check the official HIT website or contact the admissions office for the latest information on B.Tech admission procedures and specific eligibility requirements for different options.
  • Focus on preparing for WBJEE or JEE Main if aiming for regular admission through merit.
  • Explore the Management Quota option only if the regular admission process doesn't work out and ensure you meet the set criteria.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   What is the expected JEE Main cutoff 2024?

A:

NIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the BTech courses. During the Round 1 cutoff, the closing rank for CSE was 25886 for the General category students under the AII India Quota. Among OBC candidates, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering stood at 8750. You must have done a diploma in the respective engineering department. Then only you can get lateral entry. Otherwise, after completing your B.Sc in computer science or physics or chemistry or maths.
