Q:   Which has better placement at Heritage Institute of Technology, B.Tech in CSE or B.Tech in ECE?

A:

When it comes to placements at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT), both B.Tech in CSE and B.Tech in ECE have their own strengths and advantages, making it difficult to definitively say which one has "better" placements. The choice can depend on your individual interests, skills, and career aspirations.

B.Tech in CSE:

  • Higher Average Package: Generally speaking,  the average package for CSE graduates at HIT tends to be higher than that for ECE graduates. Recent reports suggest an average package of around INR 6-7 LPA for CSE,  compared to INR 5-6 LPA for ECE.
  • More Top Recruiters: IT giants like Infosys,  Wipro,  TCS,  and Google tend to actively recruit CSE graduates at HIT,  offering opportunities in software development,  cloud computing,  data analytics,  and other high-demand fields.
  • Wide Variety of Roles: With the booming IT sector,  CSE graduates have access to a diverse range of career paths beyond traditional software development,  including cybersecurity,  AI/ML,  and blockchain technology.

B.Tech in ECE:

  • Core Engineering Focus: If you enjoy the hands-on aspects of electronics and hardware,  ECE offers a more core engineering curriculum compared to CSE's software focus.
  • Growing Demand: With advancements in automation and smart devices,  the demand for skilled ECE graduates is on the rise. This opens doors to exciting opportunities in robotics,  telecommunications,  VLSI design,  and embedded systems.
  • Specialist Roles: Beyond IT companies,  leading engineering firms like Tata Advanced Systems and other electronics manufacturers actively recruit ECE graduates,  offering lucrative careers in specific technology domains.

Additional factors to consider:

  • Your Interest: Ultimately,  choosing between CSE and ECE should be based on your genuine interest and aptitude in either field. You'll be dedicating years to the chosen field,  so passion is crucial.
  • Future Career Goals: Do you envision yourself coding and building software solutions in the IT world,  or are you drawn to the more physical aspects of designing and developing electronic hardware?  Aligning your goals with the strengths of each programme is key.
  • Research Industry Trends: Stay updated on current and future trends in both IT and Electronics sectors. This can help you understand the potential growth and job opportunities in each field.

Conclusion:

Neither CSE nor ECE is inherently "better" in terms of placements at HIT. Both offer promising career prospects with unique advantages. Evaluating your personal interests, desired career path, and industry trends will help you make the most informed decision. Consider attending college open houses and speaking to alumni from both programs to gain deeper insights before choosing your B.Tech path at HIT.

The faculty is great. You really get a great environment. Very study-oriented. Placements are good.
Placements: IBM and TCS are the main recruiters. For Computer Science and Business Systems, this branch was started by TCS. Many students get internships on their own by applying externally. The top recruiter for CSBS is most likely TCS. As long as you know what you are doing, you will get placed easily.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. You will get all the books you need in the library. There is also a digital library available, which you can access through your phone. The hostel food is average. The canteen serves good food. The canteen closes at 5 PM and is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Faculty: The faculty is great. The teachers are really dedicated. They are really helpful and knowledgeable. The curriculum makes the students industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult. They teach you so well that you will most likely pass with good scores.

Best value for money private college in Kolkata, WB.
Placements: Students who appear for placement get 100% placements but you have to pass the cut-off criteria. Many companies visit college. Some great companies visit, like Tajus Network, which offers 10 LPAs this year to students who are in CSE, ECE or CSE. Everyone is eligible for this.
Infrastructure: Don't go with a heritage hostel; you can very easily find any flat or PG something like this but there is no hostel on the college campus for boys. Limited seats are available for girls and foods are not so good and taste less.
Faculty: The faculty of this college are really good; they provide their contact numbers as well. If you want any help, you can WhatsApp them at any time. Some famous teachers are SPR Ma'am for HMTs and Venu Bihar Ma'am of Maths in our Cs branch. Math teachers are not so good except Ritvik Banerjee, sir, who is too good.
Other: The best thing about this course is that it was specially designed by TCS with respect for Ratan Tata.

Disappointed with the lack of fests & sports activities in college; placement scenario is average.
Placements: Total percentage of students placed in the CSBS department is approximately 70%. The highest package is around 16 LPA, and the lowest package is 3-3.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies in my course include IBM, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, ITC Infotech, etc. I think around 40-60% of students got internships in my course, with companies visiting my college for internships including ACC Ltd, RR Omerbhoy, Wipro, Infosys, and IBM.
Infrastructure: Heritage Institute of Technology's infrastructure is nicely prepared; some classrooms are excellent, while others are of decent average quality, but overall it's an okay situation. Wi-Fi is available in my college, but there are network issues in some areas. The Heritage lab and library are wonderful and great for students. Hostel facilities are decent but not too good, although the food in the canteen and mess is very good. Medical facilities are also available in my hostel. There are no sports and games facilities in my hostel. I honestly suggest that if you want to take admission to Heritage Institute of Technology, you should prefer a PG or flat over the college hostel.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are helpful in my college and provide one-to-one interaction if anyone faces problems understanding concepts. However, the teaching quality is somewhat outdated; I honestly believe the curriculum is not relevant for students' future industry needs. The average pass percentage for semester exams in my college is approximately above 80%.
Other: I chose this course because I have an interest in coding and business. I believe the course should improve by starting a new modern syllabus instead of the old syllabus. A major drawback at Heritage Institute of Technology is that there have been no fests or fresher parties in the past three years due to some personal issues within the college, but the events are awesome. The crowd is significant because the campus is around 10 acres, not too small and not too big. There is no special connectivity for my college, but the surroundings are beautiful. Scholarships are also available in my college, and there are extracurricular activities as well.

Good facilities are provided by the college.
Placements: Few seniors are placed in a computer Science and business system course due to the first batch are in the final year of my college. And there is a chance of the others seniors to be placed well. Graduates from a computer Science and business system programme can be offered a wide range of roles. Some common roles include Software Developer, Business Analyst, Data Analyst and Project Manager .
Infrastructure: In the computer Science and business system departments often have computer labs equipped with the latest software and hardware for programming, data analysis, and other related activities. Educational institution usually have sports facilities such as playing fields, gyms, and courts for various sports and games.
Faculty: The quality of teachers can vary widely depending on the institution and individual professors. Ideally, teachers in a good educational institution are qualified, knowledgeable, and committed, to helping students learn. Students feedback and reviews are often good indicators of the teaching quality.
Other: Many students choose this course because they have a genuine interest in both technology (computer Science) and business concept. It offers a unique blend of skills that can be valuable in variable career path.

I like this college but it should hold extracurriculars as well and provide facilities in hostel.
Placements: The placements were above average in this college for this year because of recession, but still 85% of the students got placed this year. The average package was around 3-4 LPA and the highest was 12 LPA in my department. Mostly TCS visits the campus. Other companies visit for the core branches except CSE which gets very less placements.
Infrastructure: We are provided Wi-Fi by our college. We also have AC labs and a library but non AC classrooms. The infrastructure of the college is pretty good. 3 buildings are into divided different departments. The college fees seems affordable to me. But the hostel is expensive with very little or no facilities at all. We have a canteen in our college which is good but the mess is okay. At times, you wouldn’t want to eat in the mess. Sports tournaments are often held at the college. We only have a girls hostel in the campus and no boys hostel.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable too. They are well qualified. Even teachers from IITs are a part of the faculty here. You will learn a lot in the labs but theory leanings depend up on the teachers. I personally attend labs because there is a lot to learn there, but theory classes are just average. Our curriculum is revised each year making us ready practically as well. Core departments are exposed to industries too. Semester exams are average. If you solve 5 years question papers, then you will pass. But since I am a fresher, I can't comment on the seniors studies.
Other: This college doesn't hold fests at all. It is all about studies. This is one thing that I don't like about the college otherwise it is a very great college to be in. There are a lot of opportunities everywhere with a lot to learn and explore as well.

  • Candidates need to have completed their H.S. (10+2) examination from the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal, or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they should have qualified for the joint entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.

2. Entrance Examinations:

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Q:   Can I join Heritage Institute of Technology directly?

A:

Whether you can directly join Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) depends on what you mean by "directly." Here are the different ways of joining HIT:

Regular Admissions:

  • No direct admissions: Unfortunately,  HIT doesn't offer direct admissions for any B.Tech program. You need to go through the regular admission process,  which involves:
    • Qualifying in either WBJEE or JEE Main exams.
    • Meeting the minimum cut-off score for your desired program.
    • Participating in the counselling process and securing a seat based on your rank and programme choices.

Other Admission Options:

  • Lateral Entry: If you've completed a Diploma in engineering,  you can apply for lateral entry to the second year of a B.Tech programme at HIT. Admission is based on a separate entrance exam conducted by WBJEE.
  • Management Quota: Some seats in each B.Tech programme are reserved under the Management Quota. While not "direct" in the strict sense,  this might offer an alternative route for admission if you meet the eligibility criteria and pay the required fees.

Important Points:

  • The Management Quota seats are limited and admission isn't guaranteed. Merit and other criteria set by the institute determine selection.
  • Regardless of the quota you apply under,  fulfilling the program's eligibility criteria (e.g.,  minimum percentage in qualifying exams) remains mandatory.

Recommendations:

  • Check the official HIT website or contact the admissions office for the latest information on B.Tech admission procedures and specific eligibility requirements for different options.
  • Focus on preparing for WBJEE or JEE Main if aiming for regular admission through merit.
  • Explore the Management Quota option only if the regular admission process doesn't work out and ensure you meet the set criteria.
