Review of Indian Institute, Kolkata.
Placements: Students go abroad for research works and then be a professor and researcher. Some seniors got jobs at some R&D of renowned institutes.
Infrastructure: Hostels are fabulous and are homely, well built, and well furnished. Bathrooms and other facilities like Wi-Fi and electronics are good.
Faculty: Faculty is good to interact with some of the finest professors. The best thing is the professors are helpful despite their busy schedules. The curriculum is a bit hard. If you are going to be a researcher you have to work hard and college prepares you for that. Students will get enough time to have fun.
Other: There are different clubs for every event and sport. Students can join them and host events or be a part of them. The campus is beautiful with greenery. Students get scholarships from DST if certain criteria are achieved.

In IISER Kolkata, there are good facilities of labs and classrooms.
Placements: Students who scored a CGPA of 8.5 or above should get a chance to apply for a junior scientist in foreign or can get a chance for an internship in renowned institutes like IIT or IISc. Salary packages are not offered as IISER don't have any campus placements. However, if students can get a chance in a good institute as a researcher, then they can get more than one good offer. Mostly, students go to Germany for research. I am not sure what percentage of students got internships, but almost 80%-85% of the students get good internships. Initially, students will get a role of an intern and then a junior scientist. Then they can do their own research work or can continue with study.
Infrastructure: IISER Kolkata has a 3 storeyed library with all useful books for all subjects taught here. Apart from that, a lot of science magazines and research papers are available there. There is a total of 3 hostel campuses for all years of students with boys and girls hostels different. All of them have Wi-Fi on every floor and is easily accessible for students. Classrooms are completely air-conditioned halls with projectors and huge boards. There are multiple labs for all courses, which varies from year to year. Labs are completely equipped with all the necessary equipment for every course. The hostel is completely equipped with all necessary household things like beds, almirahs, tables and chairs. There are 2 huge washrooms on each floor of the hostels. The quality of food available in the canteen is very good. Every day we get new dishes which are repeated every week or two weeks, and they taste really good. 24x7 medical facilities are available at IISER Kolkata, and there are doctors and ambulances also. It is more than enough for first aid treatments and minor emergencies. There are a lot of games inside the campus, starting from a different cricket ground, football ground, volleyball and basketball court. There are places for table tennis, badminton, carrom and many other sports.
Faculty: Every teacher here is highly qualified and completed their studies and research from renowned institutes in foreign. They are really friendly towards students and are very helpful. The course is designed in such a way that none of the students faces any difficulty. The course starts from very basic in the 1st year and gradually upgrades with every year. Semester exams are not very difficult if students study the course well and follow it carefully. Sometimes it gets harder, but it is the situation of a research institute. The pass percentage is 50% of the total marks.
Other: I was interested in mathematics from the very beginning, and I wanted to pursue my career in mathematics only. My aim was to study in ISI, CMI or IISER, and hopefully, I got selected here. This course is very interesting for me, and the main thing is the course topics are the same as that of the 12th standard. However, here we learn in-depth about the subject, and I really like that. Our institute organises fests every year and invites a lot of popular artists and bands from all over India. Students of many colleges situated around Kolkata are invited, and it is completely fun. The campus has good connectivity as it is near NH34, and it takes 20 minutes by bus to reach the Kalyani railway station. There are lots of ways to get a scholarship like by scoring good marks, etc. Students can get scholarships from the institute only.

All about IISER Kolkata .
Placements: The institute is meant for students who are interested in research; there is no placement. Like, very few students sit for placements. Generally, students prefer that Ph.D. internships are not in companies; you will intern in some professors labs, which you have to find ourselves.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good all over IISER. WiFi is maintained. Labs are well-equipped, and classrooms have comfortable chairs and spacing. The library is well managed; you will find every book that you need during your coursework. The quality of the food is good. Medical facilities are average, as are sports.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful. They take your feedback regularly and work on it. All of them have PhDs, and many have post-doctoral degrees. The curriculum is multidisciplinary, which is what is needed in today's research world. Semester exams are not that tough, and you will get good marks if you study.

It is one of the best research institutes in India.
Placements: These are the colleges made for research purposes, and they are not job oriented. There are no official placements in any IISER. Most of the students opt for higher studies in abroad. Moreover, IISER students get a benefit over other students during admissions in abroad colleges due to its reputation in the field of research.
Infrastructure: IISER-K has an average campus in comparison to other Indian institutes like IITs, IIScs, IISERs. However, it has a very nice and beautiful campus in comparison to other private institutions. There are modern buildings, and the best building is the Research Complex. It has an Olympic size swimming pool, and all other sports are also available here.
Faculty: Almost all faculty members in our college are good in academics. They have done well in their academics. Most of them are from Bengal, almost 98% of them. Regarding the course structure, it is completely different from normal B.Sc. and M.Sc. It is research-based and completely theoretical. If you don't like to read and memorise much, you should not opt IISER. Engineering is a practical study, while pure science is completely theoretical.
Other: Inquivesta is one of the biggest fests of science in Asia. It is organised every year. Apart from this, it organises other events like cultural, IISER sports meet, and ISM. Other normal events like DJ night and department days are also conducted.

A place to study pure science.
Placements: Not many people get placed in our college; in our college, people getting a Ph.D. are more preferred. Only 4 people were placed with an average package of 11 LPA in Deloitte and TCS. Almost every student gets internships here under different professors.
Infrastructure: Hostels are quite clean except for some areas and a lack of maintenance for washing machines. Wi-Fi is available and works well with good speed. Labs are excellent classrooms, the average library is excellent, food is average, a medical unit is available, and the doctor is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Faculty: The courses are great, the education is the best, the teachers are good, and the facilities are enough to do great in your courses and get a Ph.D. abroad. The courses are relevant, but they won't make you industry-ready. The semester exams are a bit difficult, and 40 marks are passing marks.
Other: I wanted to study pure science; that's why I opted for this college courses. The very rigorous campus culture needs to be revived, and entrepreneurship needs to be promoted.

Q:   Does IISER Kolkata offer better placements than Presidency University, Kolkata?

A:

The median package offered was INR 6 LPA during placements 2021. However, the median package of INR 7 LPA was offered in 2021. The stats we got from this year's campus placements at IISER-B are highly varied. For instance, the highest package offered was around 10.5 - 11 LPA, whereas the lowest was around 5.5 - 6 LPA.

On the other hand Presidency University is a good college for physics Hons with great faculty members and good infrastructure. Placements: Physics is not a technical course, so there is no such placement in this course. However, it is the best course to go for higher studies. Students can get a chance to do their PhD from abroad. So placements in Presidency University is good as IISER on their equal terms.

Q:   What is the minimum cutoff for M.Sc at IISER Kolkata 2023?

A:

The minimum cutoff for M.Sc. at IISER Kolkata for the 2023 admission has not yet been announced as of today, December 30, 2023. The Autumn Semester 2023 admission process is still open, and the cut-off scores won't be revealed until the selection procedure is complete.

However, you can use data from prior years to obtain a sense of the possible cut-off:

Autumn Semester of 2022: The MSc Chemical Sciences programme had a closing rank of 843, and the MSc Mathematics programme had a closing rank of 403 for the General All India category.
