The eligibility requirements for IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) did not involve a minimum percentage or marks in Class 12 for the majority of participating institutes. No, it is not compulsory for various course students to stay in the hostel while pursuing B.Tech programmes from Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar). Students can willingly stay at the hostel, IIT Gandhinagar has eight centrally air-conditioned hostel buildings. All of these hostels are largely managed by students through the hostel maintenance committee. These hostels offer a number of facilities to students including convenience shops and various eateries, a mini library with a big reading room, music room, common rooms, art room, sports courts, and others.

Candidates seeking admission to BTech at IIT Gandhinagar are expected to qualify both JEE Main and JEE Advanced and further go through JoSAA counselling to secure admission. However, getting final admission only on the basis of JEE Main score, is not possible. The least competitive MSc course is Mathematics with a cutoff rank of 391. So, candidates seeking admission to any of the MSc course must secure a rank upto 391 to be eligible for IIT Gandhinagar. 

IIT Gandhinagar admissio to the MSc course is based on IIT JAM scores, followed by IIT JAM counselling process. Only candidates in the JAM 2024 Merit List based on JAM 2024 scorecard will be eligible to apply for admission.  

No, candidates seeking admisison must have a valid score in IIT JAM exam and not GATE. GATE is the accepted exam for admission to M.Tech at IIT Gandhinagar. The institute also offers an Early Admit MSc, the eligibility criteria for that is as follows:

• BSc and BTech students from select colleges and NITs, respectively who will graduate in 2022 or have graduated in 2021 and are among the top five rank holders in the departments at the end of their pre-final year and final year are eligible to apply for Early Admit MSc
• BTech students from IITs who will graduate in 2022 or have graduated in 2021 with a CPI/ CGPA of not less than 6.0 at the end of their third and fourth year respectively are also eligible to apply

PhD admission at IIT Gandhinagar is subject to a written test and/ or interview conducted by the institute. However, students are also required to meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the institute.
