IIT JAM 2025 Eligibility Criteria
It's important to note that while the core JAM eligibility criteria 2025 set a national benchmark, individual universities can define additional program-specific requirements. These might pertain to work experience, specific test scores, or portfolios. This allows universities to tailor admissions to their unique program needs and expectations, adding another layer of selectivity and ensuring the right fit for both institutions and students. It is the responsibility of the candidates to prove that they satisfy the IIT JAM 2025 Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admission. The Admitting Institute has the right to cancel, at any stage, the admission of candidates who are found to have been admitted to a Programme to which they are not entitled, being unqualified or ineligible in accordance with the rules and regulations in effect.

Prior to filling out the IIT JAM 2025 application form, aspirants must ensure that they fulfil the IIT JAM 2025 eligibility criteria.
- In order to fulfil the IIT JAM 2025 eligibility criteria, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates who had appeared or will appear for their graduation exams in 2025 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof by September 2025.
- For the admission process, candidates who pass the IIT JAM 2025 exam will be eligible to apply for the admission process.
Till the year 2021, the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM stated that candidates should secure a minimum 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 50 per cent aggregate or 5.0 CGPA/CPI for the reserved category candidates. However, from 2022 onwards, this criterion was relaxed. Now, applicants will have to get a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, and no eligibility cutoff is there. Let us take a look at the other factors below.
Q: How much rank should I score to get IIT Madras?
Hello aspirant!
IIT Madras BTech cutoff 2024 got released across multiple specialisations. Based on the Round 1 seat allotment, to get into IIT Madras, students must score between 159 and, 9912 for the General AII India category. In addition to that, For getting into BTech Mechanical Engineering, you must have a rank upto 2302. Also, Mechanical Engineering is one of the most competitive BTech specialisations at IIT Madras. So, considering the round 1 cutoff, if you are seeking admission to Indian Institute of Technology Madras, you must secure a maximum rank upto 9912.
A detailed course-wise IIT Madras JEE Advanced cutoff 2024 is given below for the General category students under the AII India Quota.
Q: Can I do M.Tech in IIT Madras without GATE?
Yes, candidates can get admission to MTech course at IIT Madras without GATE scores. As per the basic eligibility criteria mentioned on the official website of IIT Madras, it is not mandatory to qualify for GATE entrance exam. Candidates with a BTech degree from an IIT, with a CGPA of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) and above can apply directly for admission to MTech programme.
Hence, it is possible to pursue MTech at IIT Madras without a valid GATE score. Such candidates are required to apply on the official IIT Madras website. These applications are then reviewed by the respective departments before taking the final admission decision.
Q: Can I join IIT Hyderabad without JEE?
It's not possible to get admission to the BTech programme without JEE. The primary method for securing admission to IIT Hyderabad's BTech programme is by taking the Joint Entrance Examination, which is a national-level entrance exam for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology. JEE is a mandatory requirement for most undergraduate engineering programmes at IITs, including IIT Hyderabad. Nevertheless, it is crucial to recognise that admission processes and criteria may evolve over time. To remain informed, it is recommended to regularly visit the official website of IIT Hyderabad or reach out to their admissions department directly. It's possible to get into IIT Hyderabad without JEE only if the aspiring candidate is looking to seek admission to the MTech programme. For admission to the MTech programme the candidates need to pass GATE exam and they need to have graduation with 60% marks.
Besides the proof for minimum educational qualification, candidates also need to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admissions. Candidates found unfit to pursue his/her Science course can be denied admission by the admitting institute.
