GATE 2025: New Two-Paper Combination List (OUT), Exam Dates (OUT), Mock Test Links Available, etc.

IIT Roorkee has REVISED the GATE 2025 application form dates. As per the revised schedule, GATE 2025 registrations had started on 28 August, 2024. The last date for GATE 2025 registration have been extended to October 3, 2024 (without late fees). Earlier, candidates had to submit the application form by 26 September 2024, with regular fees. Candidates will be able to submit the GATE 2025 application form with late fees until October 11, 2024 (extended).

To enroll for the GATE exam, candidates have to pay a requisite fee of INR 900 (for female/SC/ST/PWD candidates) and INR 1800 (for other candidates) during the regular period. A late fee of INR 500 is charged for candidates applying after October 3, 2024.  

IIT Roorkee has revised the last date of the GATE 2025 application form. The last date to submit the application form with regular fees was October 3, 2024, and October 11, 2024 (with late fees). IIT Roorkee has released GATE 2025 exam dates on its official website. The GATE 2025 exam will be conducted on 1,2,15 and 16 February 2025. GATE 2025 exam will be conducted in multiple days and multiple shifts for all 30 papers. 

GATE exam is conducted only once a year to offer admissions to master's and PhD programs at top institutions, such as IITs and NITs. Students applying for GATE 2025 can opt for two subject papers from the prescribed set of combinations. Earlier, the candidates could apply to appear in only one subject. The GATE 2025 application form correction facility started on October 31, 2024. The details has been released on the official website. The last date to submit the changes has been extended to November 20, 2024. Earlier, the last date to submit the form correction was November 6, 2024, which was later extended to Nov 10, and then further extended to Nov 20. The exam pattern and distribution of questions for test paper codes - CE, CS, EC, AE, AG, BT, CH, ME, MN, MT, EE, IN, TF, XE, PE, ST, and PI are as follows -

• General Aptitude (GA)-  15 questions

• Engineering Mathematics (EM) - 13 questions

• Subject-specific questions - 72 questions 

The total number of questions asked in the GATE examination is 100 questions. 

Passing marks in GATE exam is different for all 30 papers. The GATE qualifying mark for PSUs recruitment is also different. Candidates appearing in any GATE paper have to obtain the minimum mark in order to be declared qualified for the exam. Only qualified candidates are considered for admission to MTech/MSc/PhD programs and the MHRD scholarship. As per the exam pattern of GATE, the exam is conducted online as a computer-based test. The exam will have a total of 65 questions from the candidates pre-selected paper. The questions will be Multiple Choice type, Numerical Ability type and Multiple Select (more than one option correct) type. 

Out of total 65 questions, 10 questions will be from General Aptitude and remaining 55 will be from the subject selected by the candidate. The marking scheme is different for each GATE question paper section, which is as follows -

• For 1 mark Multiple Choice Questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

• For 2 mark Multiple Choice Questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

• There is no negative marking for Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.

• No marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.

GATE Syllabus have 3 major sections namely General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Chosen subject.

GATE General aptitude syllabus is based on intermediate level general understanding to test aptitude of candidates. The GATE 2025 is a computer-based test conducted for 30 subjects in different parts of India. The GATE examination lasts three years, comprising 65 questions for 100 marks.

No, you cannot challenge the GATE response sheet, as it is meant to evaluate the probable scores. GATE answer keys can be used to challenge the responses. Every year GATE counducting authority releases provisional answer key before the final answer key. GATE-candidates are allowed to raise objections against answers through GOAPS portal. Candidates will be required to pay a fee of INR 500 per question.

2. Log in using Enrollment ID and password.
3. Select the paper
4. Click on the "Raise Objection"

IIT Roorkee will release the GATE 2025 provisional answer key on its official website- gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The facility to raise objections in the answer key will be available online. The GATE answer key and response sheet can be used by the candidates to verify their answers and predict their scores. To calculate the scores, candidates need to follow the marking scheme. No, candidates can not raise objections in the final answer key of GATE. The facility to raise objections is provided only in GATE provisional answer key. It is thus advised to candidates they raise the objections only in provisional answer key, in case having any objection.

The GATE 2025 answer key will be released within two to three weeks of completing the examination. IIT Roorkee will conduct the GATE 2025 exam in two sessions on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. The exam timings for the GATE exam is - Morning (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm).

The GATE cutoff is evaluated based on the sum of the marks secured by all the candidates divided by the total number of students.

The GATE cutoff is one of the most important factor that candidates must be aware of, mainly if they are appearing for the GATE exam. The cutoff is the minimum qualifying mark required to qualify for the GATE exam, and it varies for each test subject. Candidates who get scores more than the GATE cutoff are eligible for the GATE 2025 counselling.

The GATE CCMT cutoff is the minimum score required to be considered for admission to the participating institutes, including IIEST Shibpur. It is released by the exam conducting authority, IIT Bombay, and is different for each category of candidates.

On the other hand, the IIEST Shibpur M.Tech merit list is the list of candidates who have been selected for admission to the M.Tech programme at IIEST Shibpur, based on their GATE scores and other factors. This list is prepared by IIEST Shibpur and is based on the GATE cutoff scores.

So, while the GATE CCMT cutoff is the minimum score required to be considered for admission, the IIEST Shibpur M.Tech merit list is the list of candidates who have actually been selected for admission.

NIT Agaratala cutoff for M.Tech is based on GATE scores followed by the GATE CCMT Counselling. The GATE 2024 cutoff scores of NIT Agartala based on the first round of GATE 2024 CCMT seat allotment is as follows -

The GATE scorecard is valid for three years. Within these three years, qualified candidates can use the scorecard to apply for admission to various IITs, NITs, and other reputed colleges. A valid scorecard can also be used to apply for Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) jobs. No, candidates will not be able to download the GATE scorecard after December 31, 2025. The scorecard will be available for download from March 28 to May 31 free of cost. After May 31 till December 31, 2025, candidates will need to pay INR 500 for downloading the scorecard. During the counselling of GATE, candidates have to participate in the document verification process and submit the following documents -

• Provisional allotment letter

• Self-attested copy of GATE scorecard

• Valid Photo ID copy, such as Aadhar card, Voter ID, PAN card, etc. 

• Original Birth Certificate issued by the competent authority

• Class 12th mark sheet

• Marksheets of all the qualifying examinations (all semesters)

• Degree/Provisional Certificate

• Category certificate (if applicable)

• Three recent passport size photograph

• Printout of the GATE application form, counselling form, and locked choices

• Migration certificate

• Transfer certificate

• Original Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institute last attended.

The GATE counselling is done online soon after the results are declared. The GATE 2025 results will be announced on the official website on March 19, 2025. The CCMT and COAP will conduct the GATE counselling. Candidates wishing to be admitted to IITs must register for counselling on the COAPs portal.
