A: 

There is no such provision for direct admission to any of the programme at IIIT Kottayam including BTech. IIIT Kottayam being a centrally funded technical institute just like all others IIIT’s across India follows the guidelines established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. For admission to the BTech programme at IIIT Kottayam, candidates need to qualify the JEE-Main exam. Candidates having their JEE-Main rank above the closing rank mentioned in the merit list released by IIIT Kottayam can apply for the counselling process through JoSAA for admission to the BTech programme.

NTA released the JEE Main application form 2025 session 1 on October 28, 2024. The JEE Main 2025 registration date was October 28 to November 22, 2024. JEE Main 2025 application form was available online on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. As the JEE Mains 2025 exam will be conducted in two sessions, NTA will release session 2 application form on  January 31, 2025.

NTA announced JEE Main 2024 dates. NTA coducted the JEE Main 2024 exam in two sessions. JEE Main 2024 exam date session 1 was January 24 to February 1 while the second session was held from April 4 to 15. Candidates can check JEE Main 2024 exam date session 1 and 2 on this page.  JEE Main 2024 application form session 1 was available from November 1 to December 4. For session 2, NTA released application form on February 2.

Computer Science engineering from the IIIT Kottayam.
Placements: IIIT Kottayam is offering multiple placement opportunities to students of computer science and engineering. Almost 70–80% of the students get placements at this college. The average package offered at the college was between 5-7 LPA. Various national and multinational companies visit our college for placements in the software and development fields.
Infrastructure: The college has really good infrastructure for the computer science course. Various modern facilities were available at the college for the development and interactive learning of the students. The college had computer labs for the programming practice of the students. Library, canteen, and hostel facilities were also available for the students.
Faculty: The faculty of the college was helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. IIIT Kottayam was offering highly experienced faculty in computer science engineering. All the teachers were giving necessary support and assistance to the students in getting good placements. The course curriculum of the college was relevant and made the students industry-ready. Exams at the college were hard, and to pass them, students had to study hard.

Inside Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam.
Placements: Placements is one of the attractions of the college. We have a placement percentage of nearly 90 percent. Top recruiting companies include Amazon and Nvidia. SDE is the role which is offered to the majority of placed students. The highest package offered till date is 58.93 LPA.
Infrastructure: The campus location adds a feather to our college life. Hostels are well furnished with Wi-Fi, LAN ports, sports rooms, and TVs. Each wing is also assigned a washing machine. The mess menu comprises dishes from all over India to maintain diversity. We have a good place for various sports.
Faculty: The faculty members are just too good. Each one of them holds a doctorate from one of the most prestigious universities in the nation. The level of the exam is good enough to test your knowledge. We have one mid-semester and one end-semester. Along with that, various assignment submissions and quizzes are held on a fortnightly or sometimes weekly basis.

Satisfied with Infrastructure of IIIT Kottayam.
Placements: Campus placements are relatively low, with an average package of around 6 LPA for Computer Science and Engineering. The highest package reached 20 LPA. Many students secure internships independently, with top roles offered in fields like machine learning. Approximately 30% of students get placed.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is unreliable, often switching off, but classrooms and department facilities are satisfactory. Sports and games are encouraged, although the quality of the mess is inconsistent—sometimes subpar, though it has improved recently. Medical facilities are adequate.
Faculty: Some teachers are very supportive, while others display a degree of partiality. Overall, teaching quality is good, though semester exams are challenging, with a low pass rate of around 5.5. Mid-semester exams, however, are manageable.
Other: Events are well-organized, but they rarely invite notable guests or experts from outside the institution.

A great experience at IIIT Kottayam.
Placements: All my seniors who were pursuing the Computer Science stream have been placed. The college is well known for its faculty and research management. The highest package is around 59 lakh, and the lowest is around 5.8 to 6 lakh, with an average package of around 14.8 lakh. As the placements have been completed, in IIIT Kottayam, the top recruiting companies are Google, Amazon, Flipkart, etc., and students get on-campus internships from top companies. There is a well-functioning placement and training cell in the college. To get an internship or to sit in placement, a minimum CGPA of around 7.5 to 8 is required. By seeing this, they offer internships from the companies, with the percentage being about 60 to 70 percent of students. The course offered in IIIT Kottayam is different from other colleges offering the same course because it is totally industry-based and offers a wide range of technical material, supporting students to contribute in every niche present in the software industry.
Infrastructure: Every hostel on campus is very specialized, with all facilities and good infrastructure. To avoid congestion, they allocate each hostel for only 100 members. Wi-Fi facilities are available everywhere on campus and in hostels too, but the phone signal is very low, especially for Jio and Airtel users. The library is not very large but just enough to get the required books, and it has plenty of books required for the course. The atmosphere in classrooms is great; every classroom has a smartboard. There are separate labs for different courses like EC lab, CS lab, etc. Every hostel has separate washing machines for every floor, drinking water supply, and Wi-Fi support. The rooms are three shared rooms with common bathrooms. For food, I rate the mess 4.2 out of 5. The food menu is decided only by the students themselves. There is a gym, and students can play any sport like cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis.
Faculty: Every faculty member works for the students and helps them in all aspects. Every faculty member has a good qualification from prestigious colleges like NITs and IITs. They teach us outside the box with good teaching skills, preparing students for the software industry with good knowledge. The semester exams might be a bit difficult as the course is tough in the college. The pass percentage is around 85 to 90.
Other: I am very passionate about software development, so by researching this college, I got to know that it gives a great experience of software technologies. The college gives time and allows students to develop skills outside the box. There is an annual techno-cultural fest that lasts for three days, providing lots of enjoyment to students. The number of students is less compared to other colleges; this also benefits us, with fewer students and great concentration on students by the management. The campus is on the hill railway station around 30 kms from the college. There are daily extracurricular activities like coding activities, hackathons, tech talks, and other club activities like dancing, singing, music, and other stuff.

Review of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kottayam.
Placements: You need to get a minimum of 8 CGPA to qualify for a job offer or interview. In my CSE core course, the highest package is 48 LPA and the average package is around 10 LPA. Mostly all the students will get placed on or off campus. Many companies visited our campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the campus is designed from Germany. The whole campus is connected with Wi-Fi and unlimited data. Classrooms are good, and the library is also good. In the hostel, we have 3 members in a room, washing machines, and no shortage of power.
Faculty: All the staff are skilled and have much experience in the teaching field. Compared to other colleges, the course curriculum is good and helpful to get a job easier. The semester exams are not easy and not difficult; they are between moderate and difficult. Pass percentage is based on class performance.
Other: I like CSE so I chose this course, and many clubs are in this campus. Clubs like Apoorv, Betalabs, Trendles, Adavya, Elix are run by students.
