B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.4

What is good about IIT BHU VARANASI.
Placements: In our batch, there are approximately 150 students. As in the recent placement sitting, about 80% got placed this year with an average package of 18 LPA. The highest package in our batch goes up to 50 to 60 LPA. Top recruiting companies include L&T, Tata Construction, etc. Roles offered are site manager, junior engineer, supervisor, chief engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college has residential facilities. Our hostel is a seven-storeyed building allotted to second-year students only, which has lift facilities. There is a common hall on each floor. The reading hall is on the ground floor. Two canteens are there, which are open till 4 am. Our hostel has big washrooms and bathrooms with good sanitation. It also has washing machines installed, which provide affordable washing of clothes. Food in the mess is quite good and healthy. We are given three meals a day, starting with breakfast in the morning, followed by lunch and dinner.
Faculty: All the teachers are amazing. Everyone is very experienced and well-qualified. Some professors are notorious for strict attendance policies and for giving low grades but believe me, those who pay attention and study sincerely will get good grades. Teachers are well-qualified researchers. Some have graduated from foreign and were their respective university toppers. The curriculum is very helpful and aligned with the demands of the course. Semester exams are average to hard when comes to difficulty, but you can score good grades just by preparing one week before the exam.
Other: The best thing about this course is that you will have to do a lot of site work. You will not fed up just sitting in a classroom and reading theory. We have many labs that we need to perform on the entire campus, like surveying. We just go outside and continue the learning. We have three fests in our college: one is a tech fest known as Technex, another is a sports fest known as Spardha, and the other is a cultural fest known as Kashi Yatra. You will get a lot of opportunities in terms of scholarships to assist with your academic expenses.

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi college review.
Placements: Placements at IIT BHU are a huge success. IIT BHU offers strong placement opportunities with a high placement percentage. Placements generally begin in the 7th semester. This year, 220+ people got PPO, and most of the mass got placed in the first 5 days of placement in December. We saw a huge diversity in companies that visit the campus for placements. Google, DeShaw, Oracle, Microsoft, Flipkart, Nvidia, Texas Instruments, Walmart, OLA, Zomato, Uber, Grow, PhonePe, Sprinklr are a few of them (a total of 250+ companies and profiles). Placement stats have improved a lot from the past year's recession period. TPRs are very friendly and supportive, and there is strict action against cheating in placements. Major profiles are Software, DA/this, Business/Consulting, Product, and Core. The highest (excluding PPOs) – DE Shaw 70 LPA, and Databricks 68 LPA for software profiles. Pace Stock Broking 75 LPA. The average package here is around 20-30 LPA. 10-20% companies: 7-12 LPA 40-50% companies: 13-21 LPA 30-40% companies: 22-40 LPA 10% companies: 45+ LPA Percentage of students getting placed: around 900+ already placed by the first week of December.
Infrastructure: Some hostels are old and need renovation, but major hostels are good, with good Wi-Fi LAN, geysers, vending machines, common rooms, canteens, cameras for security, badminton courts, big lawns, open surroundings, and greenery. There are plans to have ACs in common rooms as well. Meals are tasty and good, and we have a Satwik mess for only vegetarian food. The menu is nice. New hostels are being constructed: DG2 (7-floor boys' hostel, lift, 3-seater), Morvi-2 (9 floors, lift, 2-seater), IIT new girls' hostel, and many other hostels. Hostels' canteens are mostly open till 4 AM, so if your cravings speak after midnight, we got you covered. Some hostels are old, but renovation work is going on to improve them. Overall, the rooms are decent. First-year students get 3-seater rooms, while second-year students onwards have to stay in 2-seater rooms. No single rooms have been available until now.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio at IIT BHU is 23:1. Faculty members are highly knowledgeable and experienced, with many holding doctoral degrees and having significant research contributions in their respective fields. The relationship between students and faculty is generally friendly and collaborative, with most professors being approachable for academic and research-related discussions. Semester exams: Mid-semester exams End-semester exams Mid-semester exams start approximately 1.5 - 2 months after the semester begins, and end-semester exams are approximately 1.5 months after mid-semester exams. The difficulty of exams depends on the professor. Semester exams are not too difficult if you study well. Some courses are easy, and one night of study is enough, while others are hard.

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2026
3
3Placements2Infrastructure4Faculty2Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
One of the best IITs in India, but declining due to it's security concerns and infrastructure.
Placements: So, we had a decent placement in the previous-year batch. Approximately 80% placement is seen in the Chemical of IIT BHU, including all the domains. The average package is around 20 lacs. And the mean package remains about 18 lacs. This data is not good as compared to previous batches due to the recession.
Infrastructure: IIT BHU is more than 100 years old, so the conditions of the buildings are not good at all. Lecture theaters are newly built and, hence, in good condition. But the hostels and departments' conditions are not at all satisfactory. But the work is in progress to build new hostels and renovate department buildings.
Faculty: IIT BHU offers one of the most qualified and best faculty members in India. A Ph.D. is the minimum criteria for the professors. Most of the professors are Ph.D.s and research scholars. And talking about the curriculum of the chemical branch, it is easier as compared to branches like electrical and electronics.
Other: The college has a great alumni network, and the placements are very good. But the college lags in its infrastructure and security.

Integrated B.Tech. + M.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2027
3.6

Overall, a nice college for placements as well as facilities.
Placements: Our college provides on-campus placement in which the students can sit in their final year (before the final semester). In placement 2024-25, the highest package in our college is ₹1.65 crore. Top recruiters this year are Flipkart, Google, Oracle, Accenture Japan, etc. In the mining department, usually around 60-70% of students get placed, and the average salary is usually 12-13 LPA. Top recruiters in mining are Tata Steel, JSW, and Vedanta.
Infrastructure: In our department, every classroom is equipped with smart boards and projectors. Multiple labs are there having modern machines. Every hostel and department in our college has Wi-Fi facilities provided by the college. Every room of the hostels has beds, study tables, and chairs. Each hostel has its own mess, and the quality of food given in the mess is good. There are 2 sattvik messes also. Almost all sports are present in our college. Also, there are 2 gyms. The student activity center is there for indoor games and the gym.
Faculty: Almost all the professors in our college are Ph.D. holders. They have good knowledge about the subjects, and some of them are very friendly and approachable. The course curriculum is well structured, giving knowledge about not only the respective department but also some institute core subjects that are also mandatory for all, like engineering mathematics, engineering drawing, fundamentals of electrical engineering, etc. The difficulty of exams is moderate, but it also depends on the professors. Some professor always set difficult papers.

Integrated B.Tech. + M.Tech. in Engineering Physics - Batch of 2026

Totally worth it, just come to an IIT and you will live your life.
Placements: There are more than enough rules offered for this branch, as well as the core structure, which is really interesting so that the people can explore their fields and their interest in pursuing higher education in physics, as well as give them a chance to get to know about other departments and their courses by selecting open electives.
Infrastructure: The hostels are more than enough for staying only 4 years, and the core structure is also pretty good. Roads are pretty good. Cleanliness is around the whole campus, and dedicated classrooms and lecture halls for different departments so that they can accommodate many people at once are also there.
Faculty: Not every subject is an easy one, but yes, there are a few easy ones, and there are also tough ones, but mostly you don't have to worry about scoring marks because the grading system is relative, so it will be normalized according to that. Welcome to IIT; everyone is smarter than you.
Other: Welcome! It is an IIT, so the fest is also good, and the crowd is also pretty awesome.

Not too disappointed, infrastructure is bad, but placements are the best thing.
Placements: About 68% students got placed in my branch this year, which is quite low according to previous year, top recruiters are Goldmann sach, microsoft, jaguar, tata, Google, etc., the highest this year was 54 LPA, the lowest was 7 LPA; the average was 19 LPA; and if we talk about interns, approx. 20% got intern in adobe, tata, Google, etc.; the top roles were sde, data analyst, finance, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is so poor as it is too old, so you have to compromise with it. Wi-Fi connectivity is good, classrooms are bad, no AC is installed, the library is the best full-air conditioned, hostels are bad, only DG2 is good, the quality of food is good, although. canteens are best open till 4:00 am, the medical facility is good, ambulance support is 24 hours a day, and sports and games facilities are also good.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, but they don't want to teach us perfectly. Only a few are good ones; teaching quality is bad. I don't think that the curriculum is relevant; it doesn't make students industry-ready. Ya, but semester exams are tough, and pass percentages in all courses are good, but for a few courses like F.M. and H.M.T., approx. 25% fail each year.
Other: I opt because only I am getting this; the best thing is that it is so tough; teaching quality must improve; ya, festivals are a good thing about it, but only pro nights, not the whole fest.
