- Candidates must be enrolled in UG course at any of AKTU-affiliated colleges.
- Candidates should be from SC, ST, or OBC category.
- The family income of the candidate should not be more than 1 Lacs per annum.

The Department of Biotechnology provides the MTech programme. M.Tech is a 2 year programme and has 4 semesters. It is a full time course and the oldest programmes given by the IET Lucknow. The department also provides PhD programme and has good facilties for all.
