B.Sc. (Hons.) in Food Technology - Batch of 2022
Offered by Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi
3.4

Our college has good faculty members but placements are poor.
Placements: Our institute does not provide good placements but it provides quality education.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our institute is not very good. It has a small campus. Labs are good. Classrooms are big. The library has all the required books but they are limited. Water coolers are available on every floor. The canteen area is good. The food quality is good. Wi-Fi is provided but it doesn't work all the time.
Faculty: All the teachers in our institute are helpful and well qualified. They are a little rude and strict. They provide notes to students for all the topics. The course curriculum is well-structured as it includes all the subjects that are needed for industries and helpful for further studies. Practicals are very helpful. If students study hard, they can pass the semester exams. Students have to give their best to get good grades.

It has good faculty members and a comfortable environment.
Placements: Placements in this course are not all that up to the mark. Some small companies come, but students prefer not to give interviews because of the lower pay scale. Nestle came before on campus. Mostly small-scale or start-up companies come for placements. The average salary for a B.Sc. student would be below Rs. 20,000 per month. It is hard to get a placement after B.Sc, but you can get training or internships surely.
Infrastructure: The department was good. Labs were also good, but labs got mostly equipment when we were in senior year. Classrooms were spacious, but it would be very irritating in the summer. Our college doesn't provide hostels, but there are hostels and PGs near the college. PGs in Hauz Khas are a little bit costly, but for sake, Palam has PGs in its budget. Mess food was also fine. Tender changes frequently, so tastes also change. Coffee is good. They have some sports like badminton, basketball, etc. Girls also participate in sports. The library has limited books, some of them purchased from another college.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good in the area of food technology. Teachers are so helpful, you can ask them anything. They have proper knowledge of this course. The curriculum gives you the whole knowledge of this course and the basic concepts, which are important for the future also. Semester exams are not difficult. You can pass them easily, but you have to study.
Other: This course is pretty interesting. People are becoming more aware of food, so this course provides students with better knowledge about the food we eat. There is a clash between food and nutrition and food technology. It could be improved. Some subjects which are not relevant to food technology subjects can be opted out. The festival is not good. The crowd is not that big, and no top singers or celebrities are invited. The area around the campus is good and peaceful. There are many interesting and fun places near the college. The college provides some scholarships. We have a dance, singing, and drama society. There are numerous competitions held at the college, such as treasure hunts, painting, and poster making. They will provide a price.

Enjoy your college life.
Placements: The percentage of students seeking placement is quite low because you really need connections in this industry. The highest package is 3–4 LPA, the lowest is 1 LPA, and the average is 2–3 LPA.
Haldiram's, Coca-Cola, Nestle, Mother Dairy, FSSAI, etc. are the top recruiters. 60–70% of students got internships at Haldiram's, Mother Dairy, the Quality Council of India, FSSAI, and Nestle.
QA labs, food safety & health, etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is really bad, classrooms are okay but surely a place where you can enjoy your college life, labs are handy, and the library is average.
There should be no hostel, food from the canteen should be improved, medical facilities should be provided properly, and there should be a society for sports and games.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, qualified and really good at teaching.
Yes, the course curriculum is relevant but to be industry-ready, there should be more practical knowledge and teaching.
Semester exams are quite handy, exam pattern is really good and the passing percentage is 40% or above.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to explore food with science, and this is the only thing about this course where you really learn about your daily food from the roots. Practical knowledge should really be improved for this course
Events, festivals, and crowds are quite happening at campus, connectivity is effective; and there is high scope for extracurricular activities as well.

Review of Institute of Home Economics, University of Delhi.
Placements: Placements for this course are not provided by the college itself. The top recruiters for food tech students are Nestle, Mondelez, Mother Dairy, and other food industries, we need to apply on our own. Roles offered are quality analyst, sensory scientist, etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel is not available in IHE, classrooms are small provided that in summers it becomes suffocating to sit. Wi-Fi accessibility is not in every corner of the building. The canteen is small but the food provided is delicious. The common room facility which is newly made helps to sit down with friends from other courses as well and have a nice chit chat or just completion of assignments. Library, sports, and games are also available.
Faculty: The faculty is highly knowledgeable and are strict with the curriculum which is rarely seen in any other college. That makes IHE stand out from others. Starting with internal assessments till the exams, everything is managed very well. As the course curriculum provided focuses on the theoretical part and a minor part on the practicals. I feel industry visits should be added for a better understanding of the same.
Other: This course provides detailed knowledge about food, everything from theoretical to technical aspects. As for some extracurricular activities, the college organizes successful events with the student council.

I am satisfied with our faculty members but not with the college and its facilities.
Placements: There is a placement committee, but there are no placements for food technology students. No good company has visited our college for ages. Placement drives are just for sales and marketing internships. The college will not provide any help in finding internships.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi is not good. Within the college, there is no network. There are no hostel facilities. It has the worst infrastructure. There is no proper place to sit. Only one common room is available for all students. The campus is too small. There is no playground. The library is congested and you will find barely any books there. The canteen here provides oily food only. There is no hygiene in practice.
Faculty: Faculty members are the only best thing in the college. Teachers are supremely helpful and coordinative. The curriculum for the course is relevant but provides less practical knowledge due to the poor infrastructure of the college. Exams are moderately difficult. They are lengthy and you have to write literally everything, including diagrams, flowcharts, etc. Some students get compartments but they pass at the end.

Hi,
You are eligible to get admission in this university. But, cut off goes very high. But, I will suggest you to participate in the counselling. And, wait for the last round cut off. If not getting any colleges in last round, then go for private colleges.
Best of luck.
