I just want to say that the college is best for faculty, placement, hostel life.
Placements: 70% of the students in my department were placed last year. The highest package offered was around 7-8 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA. Several good companies, including L&T, recruit from JGEC each year.
Infrastructure: The facilities at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College are not too good and are quite limited. The same goes for the hotel here, where the only meal served is lunch or dinner; there is no breakfast. On the plus side, the hostel has good sports facilities, and the weather in Jalpaiguri is very pleasant.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, and the teaching quality is good. They prepare you for the industry. The difficulty level of the semesters is average, and the passing percentage is 40%.
Other: I chose this course because I am interested in the subject matter. I am finding the course to be challenging but rewarding.

There are many companies offering internships to the college, like TCS, Tata Electronics Pvt., TNS, etc. Companies are involved with the college. For admission to this course, 75 percent marks are compulsory.
Infrastructure: This college provides many facilities and uses high-quality materials and products, including facilities like classrooms, bathrooms, labs, fast Wi-Fi connection, good gymkhana, canteen, etc. Facilities are available in this college. The college hostel department organizes canteen facilities, and all varieties of food are available.
Faculty: The teachers in this college provide very good teaching knowledge, which is very helpful for the students. The JGEC Diary ( The good and bad side of a Tier 3 college).
Placements: In this academic year 2023-2024, 60% of final-year students are placed. The highest package is 60 LPA from Computer Science and Engineering. The lowest package is 3.6 LPA. The top recruiters are Atlassian, WTW, Knorex, Microsoft, Hexaware, L&T, etc. Ninety percent of students got internships from our college. The top roles offered in our course are Software Development Engineer.
Infrastructure: The hostel infrastructure is not too good, but they provide us with a LAN connection for the internet. In the hostel, they provide two meals a day; there is no breakfast. In front of our hostel, there are various playgrounds like football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, etc.
Faculty: In our college, some faculty members are good, but the majority are below average. Most of our faculty members completed their degrees from tier 2 or tier 3 colleges. In this course, the curriculum is mostly irrelevant. They don't prepare students to work in the industry. The difficulty level of semester exams is medium, and the pass percentage is 95.
Other: I chose this course as I didn't get a chance in NIT/IIT. The best thing about our course is that after graduation, you can either enter the IT sector or the Core sector. I hope that our college will provide good quality placements in both sectors. There are two main fests, one is the Cultural fest, and the other is the Technical fest. The Cultural fest is named JECLET, and it is the biggest fest in North Bengal.

It's worth to join, really good infrastructure and facilities .
Placements: The highest package was 60 LPA, and the lowest is 5 LPA. The average is 10 LPA. Companies like Wipro and TCS recruit here; students also get placed at Google and Microsoft and get internships. Students get jobs as software developers, data analysts, and many other roles.
Infrastructure: The labs are good. Classrooms need more care. The library has good books. The quality of food in the hostel is good. Sports and games are very popular here; everybody participates. The Wi-Fi facility is good here. The mess and canteen are very neat and clean.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified enough. They are very knowledgeable. The course curriculum is good enough to get opportunities in the technical field. It makes students industry-ready. Seniors also help a lot with our career perspectives. Semester exams are not that tough; you'll pass simply without any complications.

In the academic year 2022-23, almost all students were placed. Among core departments, nearly 90% of students found placements, while in non-core departments, the placement rate reached 100% in big companies. The highest package offered was 63 LPA from the CSE department in a Google off-campus drive, while the lowest package recorded since 2017 was 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Infosys, TCS, Adani, Tata, among others. Approximately 97% of students secured internships, both offline and virtual, in companies like Infosys, Capgemini, Microsoft, etc. Details regarding the top roles offered have not been properly published by the college yet.

Each hostel has its own separate canteen and a common room for recreational activities. Unfortunately, medical facilities for students are lacking, and water availability is inconsistent.
Faculty: For every department, there are almost 10 teachers, each of whom holds an M.Sc. degree. However, they do not teach us properly, and classes are often canceled due to the teachers being busy. As a result, the teaching quality is rated at 5 out of 10. The course spans 4 years, divided into 8 semesters. Each semester consists of one external exam and two internal exams for every subject. The questions are relatively easy, with a pass percentage of 40%.
Other: Two events took place: Sristri and Jaclet. The seniors are not supportive and often engage in ragging junior students.
