Review of NITK surathkal .
Placements: In my course, 92% of students got placed this year, of which one got the highest package of 30 LPA. The lowest package was also not that bad, it was 8 LPA, and the average was 13 LPA. Top recruiters were Ola, Uber, Deloitte, Wells Fargo, Reliance, ONGC, etc. 70% of students got internships. The roles that were offered were Manager and Tech Department Expert.
Infrastructure: Internet speed is one of the best things you will get here; it’s almost 1000mb/s. I know it’s somehow tough to believe, but it’s true. And what should I say about the infrastructure? It’s the best—marvelous, lush green campus, and it’s really mesmerizing. Hostel facilities are also very good. You will get a very nice and clean room, and there will be everything you need in your room. There will also be a common room.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers were really helpful and friendly. They are well-qualified for the course they are teaching, and they even have their own research experience. Many professors have patents for their research and they are still working on some of their research. Yes, this course is relevant to my future job. It will really help in my future. Semester exams are medium in toughness. The passing percentage is almost 35%.
Other: I chose this course to get into this college. There is no such restriction to go into your core field; you can find your future in whichever field you want to. No, there is nothing to be improved, it’s really the best. Events are really amazing; the ones that happen here are really impressive. The fests of my college are really popular, and many well-known faces are invited, such as Sunidhi Chauhan, Vishal Dadlani, and Vivek Samtani.

B.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2028

Life of an average student at NITK
Placements: In my branch, which is Mining, around 90% of students get placed out of those who registered. In my course, the highest package was 30 LPA, while the average package was 12 LPA. I am not sure about the lowest package, but it may be 7 LPA. For Mining particularly, there is Coal India, Bharat Petroleum, etc. But many students got placed in tech companies based on their skills and CGPA. To sit for tech company interviews, core students must have a CGPA greater than 9. Around 30% of students are going to do internships in top companies like Coal India.
Infrastructure: For 1st-year students, there is a special building called 'CIDS' where all 1st-year classes are held. For Mining, a special building is situated near the main building, and Wi-Fi is available in all the departments 24/7. Labs are well-structured, and the instruments are of good quality. If we talk about the hostel, there are 4 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels. The food has an average taste, but you can at least survive by eating it. If you are from the North, you may have some problems at first, but it will be fixed as time goes on. There is also a night canteen where you can order food.
Faculty: Professors are very polite and helpful, especially for 1st-year students who are not yet familiar with everything in college. All professors are well-educated. One has done her Ph.D. from ISC Bangalore, one is from IIT Bombay, one is from NITK, and so many other well-educated professors are here. For 1st-year students, all branches must learn all subjects. For example, I am from Mining, but currently, I am learning Python. If we talk about industry relevance, it is definitely relevant but not 100%. Many old strategies are still used. NITK Maths papers are famous in all NITs. Passing CGPA is 5.
Other: I didn’t choose this course; I chose this college because I am more interested in the tech field. After doing much research, I concluded that NITK’s curriculum is very good for programming. I didn’t choose CSE in a tier 1 or tier 2 college, and I didn’t want to go to a tier 3 college, so I chose NITK’s lower branch. There are two annual events: Engineer and Incident. Other events are also held. The campus does not have too much crowd. The bond between seniors and freshers is very good. Many extra activities are available, like swimming, gym, and sports.

Do you think your JEE Preparations are worth National Institute of Technology, Suratkal (Karnataka)?
Placements: Around 70% of the students get placed in NitK from Mechanical Engineering. The highest package is 10LPA without the Minor. On taking minor courses the average package will increase. The average package is around 7LPA and the lowest is 5LPA. One of the top recruiting company is Tata Mahindra. Many students get internship opportunities and avail Pre Placement Offers before reaching the final year. The minimum requirement for sitting in campus placement interviews is 7 CGPA.
Infrastructure: Before answering this question, let me tell you that I have visited NIT Calicut and my answers will be based on their comparison. The infrastructure and buildings like CIDS and CRF are top modern buildings in NitK. We have a Central Library and a Digital Library. The construction for a new Library is going on and we can soon expect them. The hostels are average. The mess food is okayish. Every hostel has appointed GMC and MC for representing the hostelite and their mess food. So, make sure you voted for them wisely. We have 3-4 Gyms with the latest equipments. Many Sports tournaments are conducted through out the year, both inside and outside the campus. We have a Health Care Centre opposite the main ground. We get prescriptions from there and we also have a pharmacy inside the Health Care Centre.
Faculty: Even though the Teachers are highly qualified, we have to rely mainly on self study. The course curriculum is advanced and makes the students knowledgeable. There are many Clubs which will help you gain world life experiences. There are clubs for everyone taste and passion.
Other: There are many club activities where you can come out of your comfort zones and try something new. There are mainly two massive events which happen all year round. A technical fest which is called Engineer and a Cultural fest called Incident. Every year, for many club activities, the alumni visit the college. You get to connect with people from a wide variety of cultures, backgrounds and mindset.

This is an overall awesome college.
Placements: NITK Surathkal has consistently demonstrated strong placement performance across various engineering disciplines. In the 2023 placement season, the institute achieved a 92.99% placement rate for B.Tech students, with 796 out of 856 eligible students securing positions. The highest package offered was 54.75 lacs per annum, while the average package stood at 18.26 lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: State-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern tools and software. Well-equipped with projectors, audio-visual systems, and comfortable seating. A central library with access to thousands of books, journals, research papers, and e-resources. Sometimes hostel LAN is not working.
Faculty: A majority of the faculty members hold advanced degrees, such as Ph.D.s, from prestigious institutions in India and abroad. Some faculty members have prior industry experience, which helps in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Batch of 2026

College is pretty good; a good amount of companies come for placements and internships.
Placements: My branch is electrical and electronics. People from my branch can get into both core and software; however, getting placed in core is quite hard, so most of the students try for software jobs. Almost all companies allow our branch for placements. 80-90 percent of students from our branch get placed.
Infrastructure: Yes, we have decent labs, but the equipment is a little old. We get Wi-Fi facility 24 hours, which is quite fast. There are 2 libraries: central library and e-library. The central library is open till 5:30, while the e-library is open till midnight. You can go and study there. AC facility is also there.
Faculty: Faculty is average. Anyhow, you study on your own in engineering, so it doesn't matter much. Exams in the electrical branch are quite easy. I don't know why people call it the toughest branch. By studying one night before the exam, you can easily get an 8 CGPA. I think the curriculum is not that related to industrial standards; you need to study extra.
Other: The best thing about electrical is that there is not much theory to memorize. Everything is based on understanding concepts, so I find this branch quite interesting. To improve the course, I guess we need to have more courses that would help in getting us into companies.

A Review of NIT Surathkal - National Institute of Technology.
Placements: In our course, on average, nearly 90% of the students get placed every year. In this academic year, the highest package was 54 LPA and the lowest was around 8 LPA. Many MNCs come to the campus to recruit students; some of them are Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Uber, Ola, etc. All of the students might not get on-campus internships, but around 80% of the students do.
Infrastructure: The ECE Department has well-equipped labs with modern electronic equipment and Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms with projectors and blackboards. There's also a central library with a vast collection and a dedicated ECE section. Hostel life features some clean and basic hostels with laundry facilities and a common room. There's a healthcare center with qualified medical staff, sports facilities, and a swimming pool.
Faculty: The professors at NITK are highly qualified. Many have PhDs in their respective fields. The course curriculum is constantly reviewed and updated to stay relevant to the latest advancements in the field of ECE. The exams will be challenging, and the minimum pass percentage will be 20%, but it varies with the respective proof.
