NIT Trichy Course Admissions 2025: Dates, Application, Eligibility & Selection

No, NIT Trichy does not provide direct admission for BTech. NIT Trichy BTech admission is entrance-based. The institute accepts admission to the BTech course through a valid score of JEE Main. Every aspirant needs to qualify for the exam in order to get admission. Selected candidates further need to take part in JoSAA counselling as well. There is no other procedure for admission.

NIT Trichy offers BTech courses in nine specialisations. BTech specialisations offered are Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Instrumentation & Control Engineering. Admission to all these courses are done through a common admission process. Candidates are selected via JEE Main scores. 

NIT Trichy BTech course fee includes multiple components such as an annual examination fee, one-time admission fee, alumni fee, etc. Fees for the candidates belonging to reserved categories vary. The aspirants with a BE/BTech degree with at least 60% aggregate can apply for M.Tech at NIT Trichy. NIT Trichy does not conduct any in-house entrance test. It grant admission to the courses on the basis of merit in national-level examinations. NIT Trichy admission process is entirely entrance-based. Candidates are required to qualify for national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, IIT JAM, CAT, etc., for the respective courses. Candidates willing for admission to MSc at NIT Trichy must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for the course in the first place. Students who want to get admission to MSc at NIT Trichy must graduate with a minimum 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA (for SC/ ST/PwD, a minimum 55% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA is required) in the respective subjects. For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Civil Engineering was 23230 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota.
