Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering 

at NIT Meghalaya, Shillong

To be considered for admission to the PhD programme at NIT Meghalaya, prospective students are required to fulfill certain eligibility criteria. These include having a minimum aggregate of 55% in their MA/MSc/BTech/MTech or equivalent degree, with relevance to the area of study, from a recognised university. In addition to this, candidates may also need to take the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or the National Eligibility Test (NET), depending on the specific department they are applying to

NIT Meghalaya offers both full-time and part-time PhD programme. The PhD programmes has around  eight department which offers multiple area of studies. The departments are namely:

• Civil Engineering
• Computer Science & Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Physics
• Chemistry 
• Mathematics

The total tuition fee of the M.Tech programme at IIIT Bhagalpur is INR 6,500. These fees are excluded of other fees that are payable only at the time of admission. Other than the programme fee candidates have to pay a application fee for the GATE exam while registering for the exam. The applicatipn fees are : 

NIT Meghalaya doesn't have any direct admissionn option. To apply in the PG courses at NIT Meghalaya candiates must have valid national level entrance scores and participate in the counselling process.  However, for the PhD and sponsored courses, candidates can apply via the NIT Meghalaya's official website and appear for the PI/written test.

To apply for NIT in Meghalaya candidates must follow the below mentioned points:

Apply for BTech programme :

• Qualifying the eligibility criteria of BTech cousres per the NIT Meghalaya admission guidelines
• Have a valid JEE Main scores
• Apply for the JoSAA counselling
• Finally, candiates alloted with seats must report to the institution for fee payement

Apply for M.Tech programme:

• Qualifying the eligibility criteria of M.Tech cousres per the NIT Meghalaya admission guidelines
• Have a valid GATE scores
• Apply for the CCMT counselling
• Finally, candiates alloted with seats must report to the institution for fee payement

Apply for MSc programme:

• Qualifying the eligibility criteria of MSc cousres per the NIT Meghalaya admission guidelines
• Have a valid IIT Jam scores
• Apply for the CCMN counselling
• Finally, candiates alloted with seats must report to the institution for fee payement

Apply for PhD/MTech (sponsored) programme:

• Qualifying the eligibility criteria of PhD/MTech (sponsored) cousres per the NIT Meghalaya admission guidelines
• Apply for the programme via NIT Meghalaya's official website
• Appear in the institution based written tets/ personal intrview
• Candiates alloted with seats must report to the institution for fee payement

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice. 

NIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the BTech courses. During the Round 1 cutoff, the closing rank for CSE was 25886 for the General category students under the AII India Quota. Among OBC candidates, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering stood at 8750. The total seat intake of the MSc at NIT Meghalaya is 60. The seats are distributed among the three specialisations in 20. As per the seat allocation guidelines, candidates must participate in the CCMN counselling for MSc seat allocation. However, if candidates fail to secure seats via the counselling they can opt for the institute mode, which required students to apply vis the NIT Meghalaya’s official website.

Direct admission is not offered for MSc at NIT Meghalaya. Admission to MSc is based on the JAM scores followed by CCMN counselling. However, the institute conducts entrance exam to fill the vacant seats after CCMN counselling. Further, before applying for the MSc programme, candidates must qualify for the course-wise eligibility criteria.
