The placement scenario is good if you are joining branches like CS/IT, but core branches like civil and mechanical had fewer opportunities.

Integrated M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry - Batch of 2029

It is good for tech branches.
Placements: In our integrated M.Sc. Course, placements opportunities are very low because few companies are hiring students who are pursuing this course. Due to a post-graduate course, we have to do other courses to pursue some job and for this, we have to study more.
Infrastructure: To be honest for a government-funded college they can be better in their infrastructure and hostel infrastructure. But they are not paying a little attention to the terrifying college infrastructure. It had been not renovated for about 7 years or more.
Faculty: The academic session of our college is so good and here they give priority to attendance. Professors are also cooperative and they are very open to their students. But some of them are opposite to them as I described before rather than everything is good.
Other: Fests and events are breathtaking here.

B.Tech. in Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.4

One of the best universities with good quality of education and research.
Placements: Placement is around 70% of the total batch. The highest package, if you are in the core, is 6-12 LPA, and if it is in software, then it is 12 LPA. The lowest package is 3.75-4 LPA, and the average package is around 6 LPA. Many students take placements in Asian Paints, TCE, etc. It is basically about working on your studied subject.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good, but the infrastructure should be better. Wi-Fi facilities are available up to the classrooms. The library has access to all the books. Sports and games are organized with the Engineers Cup. The mess and canteen are located inside the campus, and the quality of food is average—not very nice, but not too bad either.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, and open to teaching the subject with deep knowledge and experience. The course curriculum is totally relevant to the GATE syllabus and includes practical experience as well. Semester exams are not that difficult if you revise every day for 30 minutes, and the pass percentage is an average of 5 CGPA.

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2028

It's an average college and it doesn't charge much.
Placements: Placements are not very lucrative, but you could get a good company like Deloitte, L&T, Tata, Maruti Suzuki, etc. Obviously, you need to work on both academic and skill development. The average package is 6.7 LPA. And CSE is most preferred if you are a placement-oriented guy.
Infrastructure: College has centralized Wi-Fi with a good network. But the infrastructure is not up to the mark. The walls need to be painted, and buildings need to be relooked. The hostel is not enough to keep all the college students. If you got something called low rank, you'll not get a hostel in college.
Faculty: Faculty is strict. The mid-sems, end-sems, and practical record are all checked very strictly, that too within the due date. The curriculum is hectic for sure in an engineering college. Being in 1st year, you could get help from seniors. Seniors are of good nature. Hope it helps you.
Other: Clubs do conduct fests and all. And the college being in the city is still away from the crowd in a jungle.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2028

3Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
After IIIT, NIT, and IIT, OUTR is the most recommended in Odisha for academics and placements.
Placements: Yes, it does have a placement cell but I am not so clear about its processes and eligibility, as I am a first-year student. But to my extent of knowledge, the highest package that has been acquired is nearly 42 LPA and the average package is near 7 LPA. This has been the same for 4 to 5 years.
Infrastructure: The college provides limited hostel accommodation based on rank and distance. Girls hostels are within the campus, while boys have four hostels, two for first-year students outside the campus and two inside for seniors. Food is served three times daily in the mess, with variable quality. The campus spans 100 acres, with several old and new buildings. There are seven main buildings, including laboratories, canteens, shops, libraries, and workshops. Construction of new hostels and classrooms is ongoing. Classroom seats are 80 but lack AC and smart technology. The campus has two entrances, a sports ground, and scenic top-floor views in new buildings.
Faculty: The faculty members are very cooperative and really care about students. Some show strict nature, but when you know them closer, they feel like good people. The chemistry professor is strict but gives very good grades in exams, so don't mess with him or make a bad impression. The faculty have over 20 years of teaching experience.
Other: Campus life is fair but not at a national level. The large campus and buildings prevent it from feeling crowded despite many students, including B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. students. There are clubs like Zaira and Spectrum, which you can join in the first semester, but I haven't because it is mandatory in the second year. They conduct exams and interviews for selection. Few fests and cultural activities occur, with only one fest and 2-3 activities so far. The hostel distance from the college is convenient, which I don't like. Overall, it's okay for me.

Faculty is not that good, I would say the best thing about this college is it attracts the best stud
Placements: Data analyst and marketing strategies are some good roles. Jobs are offered for also software development. Top recruiters are from Deloitte, Asian Paints, and Deshaw. Many students get internships. My course also has good job opportunities.
Infrastructure: Food is good, extra-curriculars are great, and academics are also great with a lot of clubs. Everything is good. Infrastructure is also good. My branch has some cool teachers; they guide us a lot, and I am very satisfied with everything. The college needs to work on food.
Faculty: Semester exams are pretty difficult, with the pass percentage being 60 to 70 percent. Students are very serious, so it doesn't cause a problem. Good students with a very good environment and clubs are fantastic. We have Ecstasy Fest, Engineers Cup, Zairzest, etc.
Other: Electronics and Instrumentation is a vast and good branch.

Average faculty in our college.
Placements: The placements are really average. The companies that mostly hire from our college are TCS, Accenture, Wipro, and Infosys, and some top students get hired by Microsoft, Google, or Amazon-like companies. The percentage placed is around 80% and the average package is around 8–9 LPA for them, and for CSE students in core branches, it is as low as 3 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our course is average; there are Wi-Fi facilities, but you can access only study-related things in it—no games, no recreational things—which is a bad thing according to me. The classes of IT and CSE are not equipped with AC but slowly they are making the classes AC. For example, in 2024, civil classes will be equipped with AC.
Faculty: The faculty members of our college are really average in teaching as they adopt a very old way of teaching and also the technology they teach is not up to date so you need to be updating yourself from outside sources. The exams are held every 6 months and they have a strict attendance policy of 75% to attend the exams.

Admission FAQs

Q:   Can I get CET BBSR, B.Tech with 88% in JEE Main?

A:

If your JEE Main percentile score is around 88%, your rank would be between 1,20,000 and 1,80,000. For the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar (CET BBSR), the cut-off is the closing ranks of JEE Main. The exact cut-off can vary from year to year. As per the admission criteria of the institute, only candidates who meet the CET BBSR cut-off are eligible for admission to undergraduate courses.
