Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Infrastructure and Campus Life

    * Good infrastructure, including well-equipped labs, libraries, and hostels
    * Cleanliness and maintenance are average
    * Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus
    * Sports and recreational facilities are available

    Academics and Faculty

    * Well-qualified and knowledgeable faculty members
    * Helpful and motivating teachers
    * Relevant course curriculum, although some students feel it needs improvement
    * Limited exposure to practical applications and industry-level topics

    Placement Opportunities

    * Decent placement record, with around 40-70% of students getting placed
    * Top recruiting companies include Oracle, Infosys, TCS, and others
    * Average salary package range from INR3-6 Lacs per annum
    * Core placements are limited, particularly in mechanical and civil engineering
    * IT-related jobs dominate the placement scene

Effectiveness of the Placement Cell at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kerala

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's an analysis of the effectiveness of the placement cell at RIT:

    * High Placements: The majority of students (around 80-85%) get placed every year, with most companies offering decent packages (average salary package is around INR3.5 LPA).
    * Active Placement Cell: The college has a very active placement cell that actively engages with companies, organizes programs to train students, and provides internship opportunities to gain hands-on experience.

RIT KOTTAYAM- A Gateway to Success if Walked Through Properly.
Placements: Almost half of the students are placed every year. Most of the placements however come from IT fields so getting a core job after course completion is difficult, but not impossible. The packages are decent ranging from 20k to upto 60k. In EEE few core placements arrive with the most frequent being L&T and TATA.
Infrastructure: Hostels could be better. Food is below average. The college hostels are good, but the number of seats is limited. The private hostels are somewhat expensive when combined with the daily food expenses. Also, the canteen is poor with low food quality and frequent food poisoning outbreaks.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are helpful and the end semester exams are okay. The courses are somewhat outdated but relevant, but it is up to KTU. RIT is ranked 2 in the exam results in 2023 with the least failures in Kerala. It is mostly self-study in the college, but it helps the students in improving their learning skills.
Other: I chose RIT because it is closer to my home, and it is also one of the leading GECs in Kerala. The campus life is decent with frequent extra-curricular events. IEEE, SAE etc. Are all active in the college where IEEE focus mainly on connectivity and SAE on hand on experiences.

It is a good college for students who want to study in a pleasant and creative atmosphere.
Placements: Less placements are provided in our college but it is recommended for academics and good exposure. Many placements are offered for all the departments every year. It has a placement cell for placement purposes. Few core companies are coming for placement drives but a lot of IT companies visit to offer placement drives.
Infrastructure: Our college provides a good infrastructure with large and separate buildings for every department. There are many spots where students can gather and interact with each other. Due to rubber plantation and hill contour, our college has a cool atmosphere in every season. There are 3 ladies' hostels and 2 men's hostels on campus.
Faculty: Most professors and associate professors are qualified from renowned IITs and NITs. Lecturers are good. They give proper guidance for startups, projects, and other ideas. There is cordial relationship between students and staff members.
Other: The environment of our college is comfortable.

    Good Atmosphere and Faculties
Placements: Around 75 percent of students were placed, and many students went for higher education. The highest package is around 14 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA. TCS, Microsoft, Wipro, Bosch, MRF are some of the recruiters. Around 85% of students get internships in various companies like TCS, L&T.
Infrastructure: The buildings are too old, but the faculties here provide the best education. All types of labs and workshops are available. Each department has separate buildings, and free Wi-Fi is also available. The library in RIT contains all types of books, e-books, and newspapers. The canteen is budget-friendly, and all types of sports activities are included. There are government hostels for boys and girls, and private hostels are also available. Special reservations are available for reserved category students for hostel accommodation.
Faculty: The teachers here are well-qualified, and they provide quality education to students. Every four years, there is a change in our curriculum, which helps us to learn the latest technology and ideas in today's world. This year, every engineering student has to learn Python, and every student has a physical wellness class, which helps to improve focus on our health.
Other: There are also various fests like Tech Show, Robotics, and Auto Show.

Faculty: Faculty members are well-educated. They are also knowledgeable in their domains. The course curriculum is prepared by this university. Semester exams are conducted by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala.

It is one of the best top 4 colleges in Kerala.
Placements: Few core companies visit our college for recruitment. Few students got placed in the core fields. Almost 90% of students got placed in both core and non-core companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. Every workshop is conducted in our college. The infrastructure of this college is very old. The auditorium is good. There are 3 girls' hostels. Hostels are very good. Technical machinery is available. Laboratory is good compared to many other government colleges. The boys' hostel is also available on campus.
Faculty: Faculty members are good. Our college follows the syllabus of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Semester exams are also evaluated by KTU. Faculty members are not permanent. Teachers are very friendly with students.

My one-year experience in RIT Kottayam.
Placements: About 15-20% of students are placed through campus placement. There is an efficient placement cell that provides you with whatever guidance they can give. Most of the students are placed in IT companies. Core placements are comparatively fewer. Students in Mechanical Engineering are more into designing automation fields.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi available in most places. Infrastructure beauty is commendable. You can enjoy the beauty of nature on the campus. High-class lab and workshop facilities are available in the Mechanical Department. We have our own CAD CAM lab, 3D printing machines, etc. There is a vast ground available for sports. And also, a basketball court and a badminton court are available. Mess food I can rate about 8/10. There is a canteen and two cafeterias here. The ladies' hostel has a curfew from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am. It means the hostel has no restrictions.
Faculty: Teachers here are well-qualified from NITs and IITs. KTU syllabus is updated every 5-6 years. So, I think the course is relevant. Even though I feel that there is a gap between the industry and students, it can be rectified through internships. Exams are quite difficult, but through systematic study, you can crack them.
